I've owned a mustang in the past and thought about buying a '12 shelby. Went to the autoshow this weekend and was so disappointed in the interior. I know im "only" payin 50k or so for an incredible drivetrain but come on Ford! They really need to up their interior aesthetics! I will pass on the Ford for now.
The engine in the GT500 is not the same as the one from the Lightning, they do both be 5.4l but the Lightning has a 2-valve SOHC and a cast iron block and the GT500 is 4-valve DOHC with an aluminium block.

to be honest the is no Shelby cobra mustang (unless u got it mixed with the GT500) Before Ford bought Shelby and put it as part as SVT (Fords high proformance division) they had the Ford Mustang SVT cobra as their high proformace car and now that they own Shelby they have the Shelby GT500 as a high porformance car hopfully i cleared that up

@poplarroad I think for another 25k you send the gt500 to a factory and they add a bunch to the whole car and its called shelby gt500 supersnake. I watched a video where they raced a suped up nuformz challenger. within the last couple years. Ford stopped making the cobras but when you purchase the supersnake package it has the old cobra emblems on it

@frostonflakes123 The snake is on there for association. It gives people a reference to past models, for comparability purposes. Regardless, there is really no difference in the pedigree. Cobra was just a symbol anyway, it was always still a Mustang, and it still is. The snake was there to signify Carol Shelby and his influence of performance. The two words are synonymous. So yea, in a way, this is a Cobra. Why nit pic.
