as a seventeen year old im very sad watching this movie. is there going to be old couples so in love like this by the time i get old? everyones either divorced, remarried or swinging. on the other hand my friends parents are happily married after 20 years (but those kind of couples are so infrequent nowadays =/)
Anyone loving this movie should read the remarkable chapter examining it in the book "Romantic Comedy" by James Harvey. It was a popular book when it was published, and has been reprinted; many libraries should have it.
I just watched this movie the other day (thanks Netflix) with my mom on her 75th Birthday. My sister was there, too. Needless to say we boo-hooed off and on! What a beautiful and touching movie. Thanks!

One thing James Harvey points out is the peculiar resemblance between the hotel manager and the FDR of the late thirties.
