Geva Theater is in a not-very residential area, and is quiet on weekends.
There are other parts of the city that likely would have had more on offer - Dinosaur BBQ over by the War Memorial, for one, Highland Park in the South Wedge for another. Interesting pics to be able to study the statuary and buildings we don't often have the time to stop and look at. Don't forget the Suburbs, too.
Shawcross, Bianchi ( the hillside strangler ) the double initial murderer , it has some infamous sick scumbags....but Rochester is just one of the cities under duress.. the companies that went to Mexico , China etc . nailed the job market hard. 1800 of them have headquarters in the Cayman Isles and pay little or no taxes ...The city is'nt what it was , but it's public market is rated tops in the country . Planetarium is cool and it's near the Finger Lakes
I agree. It has charm. At least it did at one time. To go back there these days is a heartbreaker, esp. past Kodak Park, which is a ghost town. It is shabbier. Is Seabreeze still around, I wonder. There is no equal to Seabreeze.

I'd say that temperature-wise Rochester and Toronto are fairly equal...the difference is that since we're on the south shore of Lake Ontario, we get all the prevailing winds and therefore most of the lake-effect snow. Thus, while we are no warmer or colder than Toronto, we regularly get pummeled with lake snows - just like we are today, as a matter of fact.

The downtown was known to be pretty dangerous.
And then the winters. The weather was so bad with strong blizzards and snow storms coming from the direction of lake Michigan time and again.
