Was Radio Broker supposed to portray "emo" music or was it just the all encompassing category "hipster"?

@thinkpad411 In essence, the roots of the "hipster" movement really came from the "scenesters" which were simply older people(mid 30s) with the same scene. When they abandoned that scene, younger peeps (20-29) took over and that's when the name switch happened.

Imho, "hipsters" became mainstream because of Scott Pilgrim. Ever since that movie came out, all I see on youtube is "hipster" this and "hipster" that while most of the people who use the term don't even know what it means.

I always thought that a hipster was just a person who stays up on the latest trends and evokes trends themselves by wearing/introducing styles that are often weird or uncommon, or sometimes taboo. I also thought they were people that only ride a trend to look cool, and usually not because of it's actual values.

The hipsters of this decade came from the scenesters of the last 2 decades. In essence, they are simply a bunch of trust fund kids who wear tight jeans, ironic shirts, give judgmental stares, attempt to never smile and instead pout at shit, ride 1 gear bikes, and party like fucking crazy. After their exaggerated partying, they blog about their night.

@thinkpad411 After being heavily obsessed with knowing what a hipster exactly was, I did research on them for 2 days and read some long articles about them. They aren't as hard to figure out as you'd think they'd be. Their mentality is that of anti-mainstream to the extreme of hating something ONLY because it's mainstream. This stems from the older generation's frustration leading to the stigmatization of anything mainstream. It is simply a subculture that mocks any other subculture.
