But let's face it, as long as we can avoid the real issues of this election which is McCain VS Obama, we can keep turning our backs to the fact that there are Americans ready and willing to send a Junior Senator with no major accomplishments to the Oval Office!
Can America really be this naive? I beginning to think they can.
No major accomplishments? You've obviously not done your homework (nor do I think you really care to).
Funny how, when a Republican works their way up from humble beginnings, they are celebrated as a model American.
When it's a Democrat like Obama they are denigrated with pejoratives like elitist and celebrity. George Soros, a self-made billionare, yet discounted because he doesn't subscribe to the Rupert Murdoch model of corporate imperialism.
Wiley, these articles are not as damning as you make them out to be. Reading between the lines, Todd Spivak suggests that Obama is too ambitious. The other complains that he's not Progressive enough, not in so many words, but it is a litany of complaints of where Obama crossed the party line. Is Obama a shrewd politician? Absolutely - and that's what like about him. Obama has never claimed to be a Progressive, which is why when right wingers call him the "Most" Liberal it is essentially wrong.
It is dismaying you were swayed by these pieces. Todd Spivak's article falls into that category of yellow journalism that Conservatives cite as examples of a journalists trying to "make news" instead of reporting it. His article has the tell-tale signs of cherry-picked evidence. Spivak cites Tony Rezko but fails note that Obama had been cleared of any connection to Rezko's dealings. Spivak overtly attempts to paint an unflattering picture that brings into question his objectivity.
Obama has made political enemies on both sides of the aisle. It is sad to see Progressives attack him for not being progressive enough. It is also sad that a few in the Black community don't want to see him succeed because he's not Black enough. Jesse Jackson's remarks are one example but the quotes in Spivak's article of "resentful" Black politicians seem to echo this as well.
Obama is a political animal who knows his environment and knows how to survive, and for this he is singled out.
Regarding accomplishments: As US Senator Obama spearheaded the most stringent Ethics Reform bill since Watergate, The Obama-Coburn Act mandates transparency in Federal funding in addition to tracking those funds & their recipients. After Katrina, Obama authored bills to aid storm victims.
Think what you will, but Obama is a hard-working, astute and judicious politician who isn't married to ideology. As President he will reverse the last eight years of GOP ineptitude and malfeasence.
Forgot where I saw it, but I saw a clip where it looks like McCain is checking out her ass at the podium. IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW. "Attending to the health of the President". Hahaha chock one up for the dirty old man vote! I wonder if he calls her a MILF like his wife is a C*NT. And to think that roughly half the US population are complete friggin idiots and will vote for these jagoffs

Typical of Conservative hypocrisy.

Mike-
I've "done my homework." I was a potential Obama supporter until I read two articles which changed my mind, and my vote.
Do a google search with keywords:
Barack Obama and Me houstonpress
Then google
the Obama craze count me out
Both articles will be first in the search and
neither are smear or conspiracy- Just facts.
I have no doubt you're open minded.
After you've read them, get back to me on some suggested reading on Obama's major accomplishments. I look forward to your response!
