The most curious thing that I've noticed about Conservatives/Republicans is how they always claim to HATE government, but they WANT to be in the government! Think about that. Does this attitude make sense? No. If government is so incompetent, why would people who think that way want to join the government?? Because they know that the government is the only institution that can rein in the abuses of the private sector. Everything else the neo-cons/conservatives/Republicans say is a smokescreen.
Actually, a case could be made that what have today in our politics vindicates FDR. In the 1930s millions of Americans were members of communist, socialist & other leftist groups. It was the threat of these that led FDR to enact what measures he did on behalf of working people. What followed was the red-baiting of the 50s and beyond. FDR saved American capitalism.
