@myowndo Aaaaah so excited. I'm getting a mandolin soon :D(just for referance, if you didn't realise, :D :) :/ and the like are all smiley faces, but seeing as you have a computer you would realise that and now I made myself look like an idiot...). May I ask, what inspired you to start playing?
@222GOO (:{D> That's me! Bald and facial hair!! I really like the music, and its fun to play. The band I was in all put down their Rock instruments and picked up Bluegrass instruments and that was 20 years ago and the rest is history! How about you? Why the mandolin?
@myowndo Absoloute bull that's you. You're more (:{D>>>>>>>>>>> ;P(wink). In truth, music is in my family. My Dad is a natural player and he's always had instruments in his household. He used to play professionaly with a band years ago but he had a motorbike accident in his early twenties leaving his left arm disabled. If that hadn't have happened I think he would be up there with Paul McCartney now. My Mum, on the other hand, wasn't such a natural but she learned to play the hard way..
@myowndo so I guess I've always been around music. I played the drums until we moved house and haven't had the kit set up yet, but yeah. Now, as for the mandolin specifically, I heard some comical music on a movie a little while ago and asked my Dad what style it was, to which he replied "bluegrass". In my typical fashion, I looked it up on yuotube and it just so happened that I landed on Bill Munroe's "Southern Flavour", and I was instantly taken...
@myowndo since then, I've been considering learning to play, and recently negociated a way that funded the mandolin. As it is, we were going to get one from amazon, but it's from Germany and I live on an island in Scotland, so they're a bit iffy with the delivery. Still, eventually I'll get it :).
Sorry for the length at which I left my reply but I'm like this on keyboard and in person, simply LOVE to talk :D
@222GOO I too was in a motorcycle crash about 10 years ago, but for the most part my legs were injured, so when I could, I would play as therapy to keep active. I wish you and your family well and good luck getting and playing your mandolin!! I look forward to hearing you play it some time!!! - Dan
Very nice playing and especialy the rythmn part, I like the sound and style of your playing. I am keen to learn this myself and would like to copy something of your manner. Do you mind my asking who influenced you or what/or who you learned this from ?
@quinnfaescotland Thank you very much! It's the Em and B7 I enjoy. It's a Bill Monroe song and because I can't play like him I just play it my way, so I can't play it wrong! I'm glad you liked it, and look forward to hear you play it. If you do it your way you can't be wrong either!!! Dan
FOUND IT! It's great :D

Any chance i can get ya to break down that style into a quik lesson, like maybe just the first 4 bars, and some of the chorus?
