still performing consistently, still has the skills on guitar & vocals...still making great music while many others that may have had more commercial success in the past sound like lame caricatures of themselves when they perform now...classic music from a fantastic act, now and always...
Cool! Truly talented musician right there. He's a million times better than most of these hack "musicians" today! This dude can rock and write cool songs with cool meanings. Simply put: Fine music right there.
during the cold war, the russians would pull up so close to us that theyd get under the angle of our flight deck. i had a little cubby hole that was a front row seat. i used to play this at the russians from my boom box. blowin dime store bubbles at em while sittin on a big box of rockets. FTW. Ya wants some then get some, but ya better ask yourself.... "whos behind the door".Fly Navy!

Saw them for the 1st time in a local club on Long Island, NY in '84-ish... AWESOME! I think that it was Quiet Riot that stole their steam being that they both released their albums at the same time.
I first saw Zebra in 1980 or 1981 live in a little club called Detroit in Port Chester, NY. It was one of the best live shows I have ever seen. The lyrics and production are terrific. Its amazing over the years you just don't get tired of this song or this band. I wish I had a time machine and could go back to that club and hear that concert again. Awesome.
The first time I saw Zebra was back in about 1983 on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, what a performance! Great band all around, it's a shame they never got more recognition.
We opened for Zebra at a dive gig somewhere in south LA. I really didn't know these guys when I first heard of them. Barely 20 people were there. The next time we did the gig, we were unloading the truck outside and a bunch of girls drove up and asked if we were Zebra. We said no, and off they went. Too bad for them, Zebra was next!
This was one the gems of the 80's. This song flew under the radar. But those that lived when this song came out. Wow.. unforgettable.... Great to see they're still playing --- awesome song..
Great band..saw them in 1983 at Toledo Sports Arena. They were a support band, but I cannot remeber who, which says a lot about Zebra! Broke out my vinyl copy with this about a year ago, and still play it frequently...
From what I remember, they also were opening for Loverboy on the first album. I know...kinda like Hendrix opening for the Monkeys, right.
Side note to all: The only people who panned Zebra early on was Rolling Stone. You know, the mag for people who "like" to think they know squat about music. I can't think of anyone who actually plays an instrument that reads Rolling Stone and I would put more credence into a Zebra review from Hit Parader, or Teen Beat than that butt wipe of a hippie rag.
This is one of those songs that I've always loved, but I feel guilty loving it so much...because it's pretty silly, right? Still...I love it, I love it, I love it!!!
Thanks for posting this video!!! Sorry about all the exclamation marks!!!
Come see Zebra at the St. Cletus Oyster Festival on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 8 p.m. 3600 Claire Ave., Gretna, LA 70053. Admission is FREE!!! Come early and bring your appetite, as there will be a huge variety of South Louisiana's favorite foods, draft and bottled beer, wine, daiquiris, and more.
always a very underated talent..these guys never fully got they're due. I used to tell people about Zebra and they'd say who..what? Saw them in 82 in Florida back in the day and they totally rocked it.
Reminds me of the Celebrity Apprentice with Tom Green, the one testicle nutcase who can skate figure 8's around you for Zappos and Zebra and Zeppelin and Zen and Zelda and Zydeco. My St. Christopher's Medal continues to become stronger and stronger. Tell Donald Trump I Zaid Hi! Ledz get this Poydraz Zt going ffs!
Dude, I have no idea what the fuck you are smoking, but if your posts are any indication of what kind of mental shape you are in, please don't try to drive.
Louisiana is the sound of a thousand tiny shrimp. Find that old sidekick of Jackie Martling and Howard Stern who is now in LA with Leno lifting coffeecups tell you that it's not a city that never sleeps nor is it a city of the angel. It's from the city of the Saints, and we got the best right here.
R U kidding? When this album came out in 1983 (Zebra) it was the fastest selling album in Atlantic's history..even selling faster than any of the Led Zep or AC/DC out there. You can buy it at FYE or anywhere on line. It is one of the greats out there.
Do you or anyone else here in youtube land have a close up home made video of Randy Jackson playing the song TIME [from the 3.V album] on his 12 string? Live he usually plays it before they do "Who's behind the Door". I am trying to learn it and I am unsure of a few parts (as the song is in a funky tuning [GGDGBD]). If you have such a video, please, please post it. Thanks a zillion in advance!

This is the first song you learn to play after buying a 12-string:) Brilliant intro.
Why does he have to make it look so damn easy.

Do they ever pet the animals before hurting them severely? They could have a room where the animals are petted nicely
maybe...Then after the severe hurting maybe they could pet them again, but maybe just pet around where the blood might
be...or they could put a tube in there to take away the blood during the severe hurting. Then they could even pet them
longer, or maybe pet them even where some of the red blood may be.

@68nevets68 you are correct. They did open for Loverboy and I have never forgotten them. Loved them ever since. They blew Loverboy off the stage.

I've seen these guys play about a dozen times. Mostly back in the early 90's when they would play at The Chance in Poughkeepsie.
They are by far one of the most under-rated bands I've ever seen. Randy is fantastically talented, and this band really thrives on stage.
It's too bad they get relegated into that "One Hit Wonder" label, or the "80's Zeppelin Clone" label.
