150 years ago? thats just wrong, fast google search told me 106–43 BC. but i know anchient tribes played a kind of soccer with dead heads.. atleast proven 3000 years old sport.
when he said its a pity england national team cant heigher one of tose robo legs...i was like OHHHHH,OHHHH,ohhhhhh....its a shame that america cant do the same though
can we all get passed what it is called?? its the same game all over the world. a ball isnt called a ball in every part of the world, but it is still a ball. get off America for calling it soccer and live the game. its people that bash America that destroy the game. its the same sport all over the world so everybody please shut the hell up already
I ALWAYS WONDERD WHAT HAPPENS TO THE BALL AFTER A PRO MATCH AND WITH SO MANY TEAMS ALL THE WORLD THATS THOUSANDS OF BALLS AND I KNOW THEY DON'T USE THEM AGAIN MAYBE A GOOD IDEA WOULD BE TO DONATE THEM TO LOCAL FOOTBALL CLUBS WOULDN'T BE GOOD FOR KIDS SOCCER COS MY SONS UNDER 10'S TEAM ONLY USES SIZE 3 BALLS AND OBVIOUSLY ADULTS USE FULL SIZE 5 BALLS
this ball doesnt have the lines of the classic black and white ball, which has lines to do the kick more accurate, thats the only problem about balls today :\
in my opinion, the jabulani has improved the game. The average goal per game has increased dramatically in this cup. thanks to this ball? in the end, the teams that deserved to advance in the tournament did. So, the 'whackyness' of this ball did not have any bearing on what teams came out superior. If you're a good team, you will win against a week team any day, even if you play with a rock. As an fan of soccer, I want to see goals. And I've not been disappointed in this cup.
@Juankar1os we dont complain about goals, we complain about the ball which is a round piece of elephant shit. how many free kick goals did they score in this world cup? that was because of the ball... its shit dude
@CharIiePresents Also, you do know that "soccer" is an old BRITISH slang term for "Association Football". It wasn't Americans that coined the term "soccer". Nor Canadians, Aussies, Kiwis, or South Africans, it was the British that coined the term "soccer". So you were wrong before we were ;)
But if you're going to get on Americans' case for calling it "soccer", just remember, we aren't the only ones.
Oh, and "Football" will be coming home....Wednesday, I predict. Hopefully, I'm wrong though.
@DMwhufc I wasn't too sure about the Kiwis, but I knew that Americans, Canadians, and even occasionally the Aussies and South Africans call it "soccer" (Socceroos? Soccer City? Anyone?)
@WoolyWoolwine83 Well the British obviously realised how bent the term 'soccer' was, unfortunately the Americans haven't yet realised that because they are bent.
@CharIiePresents But like I said, we're not the only ones. And besides, why do you care what we call it? It's the same game, and that's all that matters.
@WoolyWoolwine83 well hey, it was the british who were the first to talk british. so naturally the word would come from there. however i can't still quite get it why the americans call this sport of theirs "football", since there is no ball in that game, and they rarely even kick it, or even touch it with their foot! they should call it handegg or padded-sortof-like-rugby-type-game... with pads.
@WoolyWoolwine83 so what if it is a foot long, that just makes even less a ball, i doesn't even resemble a ball! besides, imperial units are useless in every sense but that's a whole other argument. it's not a ball, you don't use a foot in the game for nothing, other than (apparently) to call a foot long egg a ball.
An Aussie Rules Football doesn't resemble a ball, yet they still call it "football" (or footy/aussie rules). What's your point?
Another reason we call our football "football"? It was one of the first games here in america to be played on foot (other games were played on horseback)
@CorinWright Well, the origins of it calling it "american football" range from the ball being a "foot" long, to the fact that it evolved from "rugby football" or that it was one of the first games here to be played on foot. It's really complicated. Oh, and you might want to lump Canadians into our pile as well, because they have Canadian football, which is very similar to American football.
you do know that "soccer" is an old BRITISH slang term for "Association Football". It wasn't Americans that coined the term "soccer". Nor Canadians, Aussies, Kiwis, or South Africans, it was the British that coined the term "soccer". So you were wrong before we were ;)

@CharIiePresents Fucking Retards we already HAD Football we cant have 2 Footballs. besides Soccer is fucking GAY. anyone who would get so strung out over kicking a goddamn ball down a field needs to be kicked down the field himself.
@Toyman1982 Considering that football is Americans favorite sport, I don't understand why NFL teams play just once a week for a dozen-and-a-half of games per season, plus I don't know, 3,4 or 5 playoffs games ?
