  • I absolutely love this camera thanks geekanoids for helping me get to grips using it! ;)

  • @TheLilgynx Thanks for watching & commenting.

  • How to do manual focus like 0:44? I just bught this camera and I'm pretty new in this DSLR thingy.. so I really, really confuse XD Thanks for answering, sir :)

  • @GemaMagician You need to go into the menu (not on the lens or mode dial) and change to manual focus there.

  • what type of sd card do u need (like type 4or higher ?)

  • @baisinka1 Class 4 should be OK, though I would go Class 6 or higher.

  • @davomrmac thank you a million

  • A few questions

q1: What is the flash recharge time between shots?

q2: What is the battery life when recording video in HD 1280, or HQ 720?

q3: How many minutes/hours of HD 1280p or 720p video per 2GB memory card?

q4: How long does the battery take to charge, and is there is better battery?

q5: How many Highest quality photos per battery charge (flash & lcd display included)?

    Thanks.

  • @cobalt120 1. Around 1-2 seconds. 2. Approx 120 mins. 3. No idea. 4. About 3 hours and you can get slightly higher rated third party ones. 5. Around 300-350 photos was my average, maybe a little more.

  • @davomrmac

    I thank you. Very informative.

  • Does the EPL1 do 24P?

  • jello 0:40

  • how much is it in the usa?

  • Can the Olympus ELP-1 video file be edited using Virtualdub software on a PC?

  • Nice should I get this as my first dslr os should I go for something else but this seems to expensive

  • @arrow1archer What type of photography will you be doing?

  • @davomrmac Like stuff on holidays and i want a dslr for it

  • @arrow1archer Well, this would be ideal as it is more compact too, so you would find it a lot easier to carry around.

  • @davomrmac i no this does look nice is this what you use for all your pictures

i might have to save up for this one but i will have a look around this might be my best choice

  • I'm having trouble taking the AVI's that my e-pl1 records and editing them in Premiere Pro cs4. The audio is good but the video freezes the entire time. Any ideas or have you heard of his before?

  • @yougottaletmesee Not heard of this generally. It might be memory card speed, or processor speed on your computer.

  • @davomrmac I'll try a different memory card, we'll see. The original file plays back great but gets messed up in Premiere. Oh well, another case of Adobe not playing nice with others!

  • @yougottaletmesee Good luck.

  • @davomrmac Thanks! It's a great camera though, very fun to use!

  • @yougottaletmesee I agree, great camera.

  • I'm now deciding between E-P1 and E-PL1. I like the vintage style of E-P1, but does it have less features than E-PL1, such as diorama, etc.?

    Which one would you recommend?

    Thanks.

  • @zhaksyeken I would save the money and go for the E-PL1 as it has built in flash, same optics etc. Just a little less on controls.

  • I've been wanting to start posting drum covers on YouTube, but an important part is definitely video quality. After seeing the commercial for this camera I was really interested and looked on YouTube for a good video. How much does it cost? (it will be my first time buying a camera for myself (I'm 15), would this be a good choice?)

  • @ACardFan Not sure on current cost, google is your best option. This is a great choice, though if you can add a SEMA-1 external mic kit that would help with the drumming pickup.

  • @ACardFan Careful - it only shoots video for about 7 minutes at a time.

  • @gumonthepants from the Olympus website Max. recording time 14 min (SD) / 7 min (HD)... @ACardFan

  • @ACardFan around $600 should get you this camera. Then with a little shopping around you can get it at near $500 i believe.

  • can't anyone just make a movie with this damn thing? Shoot your cat taking a crap, Idk. something!

  • @CDBigShow totally.

  • how long can it record in hi def?

  • does it have conintuous autorfocus like the gh1

  • @bfg2600 Yes it does.

  • @davomrmac many thanks for your suggestions. I wasn't pressing the shutter long enough to focus properly before clicking it to take the pics, hence the horrible blur! That problem is solved, thanks to you!!! However, as far as the video goes, I think the zooming is not for a great distance and is quite limited especially if I want to take say for eg. a scene far away, maybe I need a more sophisticated zoom lens for it?

  • @sarchakra Check out my unboxing of the Double Zoom kit, that might tempt you, the longer lens is pretty darn good.

  • Thanks, but bought on Amazon, also going off on holiday soon... Have to just take photos for now!

  • Thanks for the response- I've tried zooming with the lenses but can never get a crisp picture, everything seems to blurr; have tried via the zoom button that is on the top right hand side of the camera???

  • @sarchakra Hmmm, is it possible for you to pop in where you purchased it to check it out? After you zoom in, you half press the shutter button to focus?! Maybe there is something wrong with the lens or camera body.

  • Hi bought this camera recently. When I put the video icon on, I can't zoom, when the iauto is on for pictures, even if I zoom, the ultimate picture I take is not zoomed in. What am I doing wrong???? Help!!

  • @sarchakra Sorry if this is a lame question, but are you zooming by rotating the lens barrel or pressing the magnify button on the back of the camera (which just magnifies the screen display)?

  • I see some "jello" effect in the outdoors water scene with boats, due to the rolling shutter. These cameras still won't replace dedicated camcorder, due to the rolling shutter.

  • @whiteqtipful

I've noticed that rolling shutter effects tend to get worse if you have IS turned on in movie mode (which is only digital IS for movies anyway). I get the best results if I turn IS off, then run the video through something like Deshaker which does a much better job.

  • what lens did u use for the manual focus on the church?

  • @damndopey Throughout the review I used the kit 14-42mm lens.

  • How is the quality of the mono mic on this camera? And compared to the stereo mic on the E-P1 and E-P2, is it much worse, or? This is an issue that might keep me from buying this model...

  • @alexdecker In the studio or indoors the mic is very clear indeed, nice quality audio. Outdoors in high wind it picks up a lot of wind noise. I am soon to be testing the SEMA-1 External Mic, which should be good and is quite cost effective too.

  • Alright, very nice. Is the stereo on E-P1 massively better? I cannot for the life of me figure out if it's worth getting a cam with a stereo mic instead of a mono mic. What do you think, in your professional opinion?

  • @alexdecker Well, I have not used the E-P1 so cannot really comment. I think the best option is E-PL1 with mono built in, then the SEMA-1 for good stereo and noise isolation too.

  • Nice one again.

  • Where do film, it looks pretty cool!

  • I always travel down to Folkestone, Kent to do my camera tests, so viewers have the same scenery to compare performance with.

  • that's not bad at all. good quality, and compact.
