I have the andromeda but prefer to leave that in my studio than to take out live , so this is ideal for my live synth with a virus and Poly evolver ... all nice and light ;-)
I just got mine today. a few things to mention other than the known volume sound differencesthat can be fixed. i noticed the inside display screen is a little crooked. it's not that bad but i can notice it. go figure i get one crooked! i was wondering if any other blofeld owners noticed this on theirs? also my volume knob was a bit loose not tight like the others. maybe all this is common sice i was told they are hand made. thanks for any info
No there is no favourite category. But of course none stop you from saving the sound one after the other for easy access. The banks are very easy to acces because they work by numbers, letters and cetogories. So in the end you have for example "A22" category "pad".
LOL ... You compare a 400 euros synth with a 3000 euros synth. But even in this case , Blofeld can be stand on its own even in front of all might Andromeda. Andromeda is better though.
@Neyowolf different strokes for different folks, the andromeda is one of the most overrated poly synths in my opinion i would much rather a prophet. Yes on paper its a beast, but the sound is nothing special. The blofeld actually in my opinion has a ton more character, granted most demos dont really do it justice, If you want proof pick up the vst version (largo) 20 mins with that synth and you will see what i mean, its has an incredible metallic resonance about it and gets so filthy so quickly
Could you please make a follow up to this video now that you've had a chance to learn the thing better? I think that this video don't fully show off the potential and I'm excited to see what else this little beast can go.
Actually I am planning to release a song made entirely on blofeld. I will invest a month on testing the limits of my blofeld. At the moment I finishing a song but my next song will be the blofeld song.
Well As you can see I have finished the track called "Silence before the Storm" it is a 100% blofled song and you can find it in my YouTube videos. I have spent the month but it seems that Waldorf Blofeld's capabilities are never ending.
This synth can seriously jeopardize your social life.
oh by the way ...I made this video to show how easy it is to edit with Blofeld interface. Not to demonstrate Blofeld's sonic capabilities. There are plenty of demo songs made with Blofeld and I have made 2 , that I have uploaded in youtube , just check my channel. They demonstrate true Blofeld power.
Check the video response for Blofeld's Sonic Capabilities with sounds I made tweaking Blofeld's presets. The track is called "Silence before the Storm" and it is 100% Blofeld , made by me ,with some Reverb added in Ableton Live 6. Enjoy!!!!
Testing Blofeld is not going to show you the true potential. Only the factory presets which frankly are disappointing. The synth itself is huge though, with enormous amount of options which will keep you occupied for months.
If I do to much people , will complain that I will do too much , If I do too little people will complaint that I am doing too little. All I am doing is showing how the interface work , I am trying to prove that I am good at building sounds.
Also this video is used in a thread I have opened for synthesizing strings. It is meant to be watched by people not experienced with sound synthesis.
Can the blofeld do Boards of Canada style "warbling" pads easily?

Can you store patches easily on this under favorites so when playing live you can just look up the sounds you have saved? Many thanks

Really nothin special compared to the Andromeda. However, it is a worthy synthesizer.

@thekilon Although the Andromeda seriously looks like a plastic piece of shite!

@thekilon Better for analog sounds only though.

Now is a first freeware editor for Waldorf Blofeld!
If you want that, look at the link in Bulletins on my profile.
ArtBonVivant 3 years ago
It says the link is invalid. "404 Not found"
thekilon 3 years ago
Change the end of the link to ZIP. I don't know why, but the YouTube auto-changed the link to Z[space]IP. :-(
Or you can check the thread "Waldorf is back to rule the Vorld.. mohaha" on a Korgforums. There are more infos and correctly link.
Best regards!

are you connected via usb, its the connection reliable?
Quiggers1981 3 years ago
I have tested the usb connection and it seems quite reliable. I am using midi only at the moment though.

for strings you better use a noise source through a combfilter ( or a small delay line ....relatively high feedback and some phasing

Thank you for the advice , I will try it.Love learning how to make sounds.

I'm looking to get one next week. There's just not enough videos around. Thanks for this. Really hope you do more.
Looks like I'll be taking a gamble with it, not being able to test in a shop (mail order only for me).

Are you having trouble with programming this synth? you take a long time and do very little. Or is it hard to program?

Can you just play the pad sound and tweak the filters a little? That's all I want to hear!
