I sorry but I just don't see the justfication in buying something like blu ray for a prettier picture. Give me a player that can upconvert my dvds to the highest quality and add a massive storage capablities to it so I can down load movies that are new and store my dvd libary on a hard drive. Theres got to something on the horizon that will do this.
i like a lot of people have waited for the format war to be over and see which format wins
it is just like betamax and VHS in the 80's betamax was superior but it was more expensive so VHS won out, this Blu-ray won cos its better it has more capacity and is now not nearly as expensive to make
next time a format war breaks out and its only a matter of time WAIT first
Dude your an idiot hyping up a format for the most part has a iffy future. Digtal download will be very big by the time your 15 yrs old cousin is an adult by then a format wont be in question but where and how you'll store your movies? Sony only won because they went and bought their way into winning the format wars in a market that only clinched 2% of the market. When vhs one over beta it took three to four year before they did in a market that had a 68% adoption rate!
people will always want to have hard copies not everyone will be like yeh i want to download it some people will always feel better having a hard copy so im pretty sure what u said will happen but bluray will also still be around for the people who like hard copies dont have a credit card or dont want to blow their download limit
I am not a teckie but i knew blue ray was better, so the better system won. it is not like when betamax beat vhs, betamax was better quality but would not do porn, so vhs won that battle.
things always change, don't buy until the war is over.
its the same as dvd thats why the xbox can have hd games just to make things hd it takes up a hell of alot of room compared to sd so hd dvd was no different just more space and bluray whilst a little different essentially just had more space
I don't get it. They both look the same to me. Why is there a winner and a looser? The real winners are the retards who are making the money and making all this fuss.
LOL cant admin blu ray better the hd dvd 25 go(blu ray ) hd dvd(15 go) max of the hd dvd (720p)max of the blu ray (1080p) cant remember litle gay blu ray have won because peapole start to being pissed off the crap
the only reason blu-ray won was cuz hackers found out how to bootleg blu-ray discs and then the sa;es went up so the movie studios went blu-gay....i'll jus get a duel player wit HD DVD and blu-ray
I agree that Toshiba sold us out. I was reluctant to buy a DVD player in the first place because they don't hook up with analog televisions. I bought a portable DVD player with HD technology. Now I can't go to the video store just because they changed the format? We have to discard perfectly good technology because of the format? Give me a break!
All these people who blame toshiba are the stupid people who spend hundred of dollars to buy an hd-dvd player & discs while the format war was still going strong. I hope you have your lesson now, dumbass. Now all the smart people will go buy their BLU-RAY player, and they will laugh at you dickhead. Soon HD-DVD will not sell anymore. You can throw your player in the garbage, and save your money for a BLU-RAY PLAYER HAHAHAHA
Idiot, that's what happens for buying an inferior format. There are no limitations to Blu-ray, especially not had you chosen to buy a PS3. Did you know that Transformers was gimped on HD-DVD because they couldn't fit the whole thing? That would have happened forever had HD-DVD won. An HD generation without HD sound, how pathetic. I'm glad blu-ray won.
YOU IDIOT! This is the best thing to happen to you! Now you can snag movies for dirt cheap. Yeah its dead but there are still 400 movies out there with extra content for you to get a hold of.
That's the only plus side to this. How much are they now anyway? I might as well get an HDDVD/Blu-Ray Hybrid later on when they get cheaper or something.
The funny thing about all of this, HD DVD movies also have more on it than the Blu-Ray versions. So you're paying less, for the same movies. And don't forget, Toshiba is not stopping customer support for HD DVD players =O
I like HD-DVD over Bluray. because of best SDVD upconverting and actually the quality of HDDVD and Blu is pretty much the same, plus extras included. Toshiba sucked arse big time in this format war. I'm not buying a Bluray tho, unless Standard DVDs get off the shelves (wich I believe it won't happen real soon)
I got a Toshiba Tv but now after this, I am not buying any more Toshiba Products. I knew Blu Ray would win, Sony is still a good company. I will buy their PS3 soon and experience Blu Ray.
Thanks for the video dude, it was worth watching.
My computer is a Toshiba, it's lasted me awhile but I'm getting a Dell when this one fries. I haven't experienced Blu Ray yet either, but I guess I'll have to because they're going to stop making HD DVDs and regular DVDs eventually.
No problem! But thank you for your original awesome vid! I'm showing it to all of my friends! LOL!
But as for the HD DVD sales, I thought that it sold 1 million over the holidays. Wow, Toshiba sucks! I bet Sony paid them to fail this a while ago. Well, at least the HD DVD movies will be a baragin now. Might as well get a HD DVD/Blu-Ray Hybrid.
Yeah, no kidding. I have a PS3 and two HD DVD players. I bought another A1 for $65 after the Warner decision because I knew HD DVD was going to die, and rather than sell all of my movies and rebuy them later on Blu-ray, it made more sense to just buy a backup HD DVD player in case one of mine dies sometime.
I sorry but I just don't see the justfication in buying something like blu ray for a prettier picture. Don't underestimate the Wii!
Look at Super Mario Galaxy, frankly it looks amazing.

I don't know where you guys got the 720P HD DVD compared to Bluray's 1080P?
That isn't true, they're both capable of 1080P, the only difference was the capacity of the disks.
xsalvioutlawx 4 years ago
i completely agree with you, i compared them both and the only thing that changes is the capacity.
