@ashoftmorrow "a sea of posative acclaim"?!?!? I've never met a person who liked him as the doctor. Out of all the fans I know, I got the highest opinion of him.
@ashoftmorrow well I just just saw the first episode of Series 6 and his acting has improved. (it's not the best bet it's better, I think he's just getting into the role) it wasn't just his acting it was the way he was written in series 5. It's starting to look better.
The reason I love Rory is that he is completely out of place in any and every scene and shot in the series. He looks completely lost and you can tell that he barely knows what's going on. But he is determined. He spends 2000 years protecting Amy in one of the most touching parts of Doctor Who and his comedic feuding with the doctor works as I am unaware of anybody ever getting the better of the doctor who wasn't all... alien.
Rory is Amy's puppy. Cute, daft but unquestionably loyal and loving
Oh and in the christmas episode. It's easy to glance over but Amy is a policewoman and Rory is a roman... I wonder what they might have been doing in there?
@Kanze2u444 no offense but Matt Smith is a rubbish actor, he was poorly casted and anyone who says otherwise is blind. This is not spam, it's the truth!
@JoeyHollywood1 There's a difference between object truth and subjective OPINION. If you think that he is a bad actor, you're allowed to think that. It may be an extremely misguided opinion but you're welcome to it. Just realize it's an opinion- not fact. You thinking it does not make it fact. Whether or not any form of art, be it painting or photography or dancing or acting, is good or not is determined exclusive by opinions. And your negative voice will get lost in a sea of positive acclaim.
Late in commenting because I've only just discovered your channel (which, by the way, I adore). Anyway, I really enjoyed this episode. I was slightly disappointed the Doctor wasn't dealing with real, honest-to-goodness vampires. It's a shame so much of the episode ended up on the cutting room floor (particularly the Doctor finding a new world for the survivors to live on). But, it was still great fun.
No offense, but I think that was the worst episode. Except for the part where he crashes that party. LOL, my friend just asked me what sex ed is!!!! LOL
I'm only just getting into Dr. Who, catching up on the past 50-odd years, but you've given me a couple of things to think about with this series. Very cool stuff, folks.
These Vampz are proper vampires!! With Fangs and that! Not like the twilight rubbish - Im not dissing twilight or anything but those vampires arent very...Vampirish y'know?...BTW this ep was great !
its 3am here and just watched end of season 5 (im british) and also its not that special and just flicking through some youtube vids and is it just me or does other people notice this...you look a little like rose tylor that did it with david tenant sorry just how i see it =]
What is it about this episode you don't quite like? Maybe it's the fact that it's almost a copy structurally and thematically of another Toby Whithouse story he wrote for Tennant's Doctor: "School Reunion". Creatures in disguise who consume victims, Doctor having to face the consequence of his actions, Doctor climbs at the climax.
Watch "School Reunion" again. You'll see it immediately, even in the structure of the acts.
What I love about Rory is that his reluctance to travel with the Doctor makes sense. He's not cowardly or mundane. Instead, he's intuitive but he also wants to have very normal, human things: a home, a wife, a career. He's an intelligent response to the Doctor and the romantic notion our space hero represents.
What another male companion. Been a while since that one has happened. I'm not counting Capt Jack. I'm going all the way back to Adrick. Many doctors ago.
The problem that I find with characters like Mickey and now Rory is that its inevitable that the doctors companion falls for the doctor as Amy clearly has since she was a little girl and when you bring Rory into the TARDIS suddenly he becomes like Micky, a third wheel that never really develops anywhere until he's suddenly just dropped off the TARDIS and reapears only as a side character. it remains to be seen how this Rory character works out in the end.
Having Rory part of the group is a good thing. It gets away from the RTD style of having all of the Doctor's companions in love with him + Rory is already a bit skeptic of the Doctor so he will become a good counterpoint to the Doctor.
Being Human is an incredible programme! It has pretty short series but each episode is just as good as Doctor Who, but with more adult themes, comedy and an extra 15 minutes. I love it, and this episode completely reflected that - Toby Whithouse ftw!
I like that the Doctor has brought Rory aboard, & the dynamic between the three of them. Rory in many ways already has his act together in a way Mickey did not (a dear friend has a huge crush on him already). Methinks he's good for Amy, will be good for the Doctor.
I kind of like Rory and his adorable awkwardness. xD I'm just glad he's not another Mickey. :) He definitely get points for referencing SpongeBob and making a your mom joke! ;) And the next episode looks really good! :D
@TheOrangeDream I really like Rory's awkwardness too. He's the perfect combination of adorably bumbling and oddly gallant. And yes, the new episode looks amazing :)
Yes! The new giant awkward space turtles in Who with Matt Smith are EXCELLENT! And the fact that the girl's name was Isabella made me just about fall out of my chair. I love Doctor Who so much. Also, I must start going through your older videos, because I sort of love you. Keep up the awesome videos!
Oh! (Geez Kiera, get to the end of the video before posting your comment so you can here the comment question...GEEZ.) What I think about Rory joining the team: I love his reluctance to be there and the tension between him and The Doctor that The Doctor doesn't even seem to notice. I like that he keeps a cool (and SANE) head about The Doctor and calls him out on how irresponsible he can be with others. Like, I love the man, but he does put people in bad situations a lot. Okay. Out of room. BYE!
@ianswertobob I know! So, so perfect. Who is sarcastic scifi done right. :) I hope you erm, enjoy my older videos...you can totally tell the point when my last video camera decided to soundfail and when I spent my entire audio rights advance money on the shiny new one.
