The cop's problems are poor training and lacking supervision. I have a press pass, I hang on a lanyard. I can make press passes. I've also printed leaflets explaining your rights to privacy, your right to leave, the 1st Amendment, 4th Amendment, and my rights as a photographer/reporter. Seems to me that the cops were making illegal arrests. Read "The Photographer's Right" by Bert P. Krages (you'll have to search Google to find it, YouTube will not let me post links, but there's an EBook version of it right on his website IIRC.) It's an interesting read about photographer's rights. I think it applies to journalism as well.

The El Paso, TX scene for ABC-7 news was shocking. It just shows what it looks like when police far overstep their bounds.

For the ABC-7 reporter that was arrested and immediately released once taken to jail, he should go to small claims court, where the cop can have NO lawyer with him, and sue his ass for the maximum ($7.5K or $10K depending on the state) for FALSE ARREST and harassment. If the cop doesnt show? He wins by default.

Sue the cops PERSONALLY! This will all end overnight!!!
