At 32 years of age. Beltran still has enough baseball in him (at least for another 3 years). However, getting paid $19 million for 2010 while recovering from an injury really hurts Beltran's signing back in 2006. When breaking down statistics, Beltran only had one maybe two good seasons. I hope when Beltran comes back fully healthy (probably after the all star break), he will get back to his all-star form. Still, Beltran hasn't reached his potential since signing with the Mets.

Carlos is a fine ballplayer but he's made it very obvious he can't be counted on. Who misses half a season with a bone bruise when half the team is already out hurt? He would'nt even start his rehab assignment until he was completely pain free for two full weeks. Now that the team is out of everything he's back, whoopeee. He would never have made it as a hockey player or football player.

Any way you slice it this guy is a soft player who refuses to take the field unless he's 100 percent, not just this year but every year. You're the dumbass for defending anybody on that team after the torture they put their fans through over the past few seasons. I played football and hockey as well as baseball and I was taught that you play whenever you can even if there is pain because your team is depending on you. This guy goes on the D.L. almost every season and always takes his sweet ass time getting back as if it was all about him. I'm a Mets fan too but they are an absolute disaster from top to bottom. They have some players with good stats but they are not winners. They are so far behind teams like the Phillies and Cardinals it's not even funny.

He was injury free last year for probably about the only time ever in starting 158 games but don't worry I'm sure he'll miss plenty of games next year too since he only plays when he's 100 percent. In my opinion, beltran is one of the most underappreciated players by met fans. When guys like reyes and wright cooled off in the last 17 games of '07 and '08, beltran didn't. He had many big hits down the stretch in both of those years. Had the mets taken advantage of his game-tying 2-run homer on the last game and won that game, met fans would have instead looked at him as a savior.
