@moomoo1337 You're missing the point of the device. It has great specs, runs Android 2.2, has the Amazon App store (which has a good amount of the android apps), and is priced super cheap. It's meant to be a true alternative to the iPad by being cool and inexpensive

I'm not saying that the Fire is better than the iPad, but a great alternative. As long as I can surf the web, read my subscriptions and books and whatever more for 200 bucks I'll be happy for awhile. What I can see happening is that the Fire will want me to experience more and better things eventually and I will buy an iPad 3 or 4.

I have a real Android tablet with a card reader, mini and finalize usb ports, front & rear cameras that an iPad could only dream of, and a full 720p screen. And fyi, the browser on the Fire uses the same tech that Skyfire developed years ago. So, enjoy your welfare tablet.

To be honest I'm dissapointed, no 3g, no camera, no mic. Its basically a Nook Color with 1/2 improvements. Supposedly B&N are coming out with a new Nook Color by years end, and it'll most likely be better than this. I am waiting for the 10" Amazon tablet though, this on the other hand, is just meh...

@ZeeLobby Correct with the price point but on the stance of functionality of a rooted NC, i think that that eventually the Kindle Fire will be rooted there for making it a possibility to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb. And this part is personal i dont really want to pay for another 3G plan but no camera or mic is very disappointing. And finally i think 7 inches is best and i also do think that barns and nobles will release a new even better nook but for right now the Nook Color is still crying

Fire looks decent, under the light that is, while touch looks like crap light or no light, and 79$ one even has ads.

Old Kindle now called Kindle keyboard ( from 1 hour ago: "Kindle 3 becomes Kindle Keyboard" ) is still the best bw reader I have ever seen.

If I was buying I'd go for either fire ( to read in black and white look at the promo for a cover in bw it looks stunnig) or the old Kindle 3.
