I saw one raiding house sparrow nests. It's hard to believe that they are considered to be a factor on cottontail populations.
Oh I've also seen them drop the same mushroom from the trees about three times. They would gnaw a bit of it and then drop it out only to get it later. No idea what effect the mushroom had on the squirrels.

@RPfishh no, i've heard that they do that. i've seen them eat beetle grubs from a fallen tree
recently i added a squirrel skull to the collection and they've been gnawing on that...the little cannibals!
