I sincerely think today's artists should go back to this style, when men presented themselves as well-groomed gentlemen and women were nothing less than queens. They show class.
THANK YOU for posting this. For me, this brings back a memory of being at a summer camp in New York in '68 and watching several of our counselors (all of them white like the rest of us) entertaining us campers by lip synching to this record while attempting to duplicate the original choreography. I only knew the Temps' more recent stuff at that point, but this song immediately became a favorite and has been ever ever since. Man, they were awesome, both to listen to and watch.
DAMN these brothers are sharp. Its funny, you're so used to seeing so many pictures of them later in life, its amazing just how young and sharp they look here!!
This video is off the hook and it's really really good for it to be that old and holding firm and strong for it to be from the 60's. whoever found this video and posted it! did a heck of a good job. peace vainsfrosty from youtube videos!
Oh yes, the most elegant, hip and soulful group ever. I was lucky enough to see them in their prime and this really brings back the memories and the thrill of those years in the 60's.
This is when it was based on real tlaent and not studio made. These gentlemen were smooth as hell and sounded that way as well. The music from this era is my fave and always puts me in a good mood. True they had their demons but it isn't no different then the singers today with those same demons. TEMPS, TOPS, SUPREMES AND SMOKEY AND THE MIRALCES just to name a few are icons and the artists today still can't touch them. Thank you for the clip, it's awesome to see those moves :)

While it is horrible how David Ruffin treated Tammi Terrell (and How James Brown also beat her) It did not contribute to her getting Brain Cancer. She had had symptoms going all the way back to her childhood of severe headaches. You don't get Brain Cancer from Blows to the Head. Not to defend David Ruffin, but medical facts are still facts.
Too bad, David Ruffin aka Dennis Rodman is a woman beater!! I heard he beat on Tammi Terrell a lot of times..that's why she got the brain cancer...Tammi Terrell is a famous duet with Marvin Gaye "You're all I need to get By"
I aint no JB but I dislike this song due to the fact that David Ruffin was a woman beater...and that's why Tammi Terrell got a brain cancer because of his terrible beating. I hope he burn in hell.

@BrownSugar253 True. My God, he hit Tammi in the head with a motorcycle helmet! He was also a heroine and cocaine junkie, an ego maniac, & irresponsible. bu, I guess none of that matters 'cause "he sure could sing!" The Tempts rescued him from a crappy career & made him their lead singer. He repayed them by missing rehersals & performances & insisting that they change their name to DAVID RUFFIN & the TEMPTATIONS! R u F#@%ing kidding me? But, to some of us, the worse u are the more we like u.
One group...So many great singers. These men where master performers, fantastic singers dancers and performers. They were backed by the finest R&B musicians, Hell! Some of the greatest musicians ever. I hope the next generation can emulate or surpass theses great artists! I had the joy of watching these people perform at Clevelands' Front Row theatre the year before it closed. They made great music and music history.
These guys were simply the BEST back in the day, and to watch these old clips is pure pleasure, how classy and smooth can you get! They had it all and shared it with us!
I am so glad that I was rised in detroit at that time. Right down the street from motown. Clairmount and 12TH street .Did'nt get any better. TEMPTATION's 4EVER.
This video is amazingly clear! Very nice!!! Thank you for sharing! It really takes me back. During those years, the camera men were used to (white) singers just standing still so they basically focused on the face of the person singing. It always did bug me when they'd miss all of the choreography of the Temps. I was glad when Suzzane DePasse & Otis Wms showed the Temps choreograpy when they made the movie about the Temptations. The actors did a fantastic job.
I like to compare musical videos of 60's and other decades, and see the evolution of the choreographies, the playing of the instruments and of course the voice performance. And I like so much that the voice of the vocalist of The Temptations (sorry, I don´t know his name) was always pure and clear as in his beginings. I admire that kind of voice.
I remember the next day at school, after seeing this on tv, everyone was talkin about their clothes. They set the pace, at least on Elton Avenue in the 60s. Black and white kids, both. The music then smashed all barriers.

thankyou i listen to my girl on here all the time, and i really enjoy the movie ending with the purple suits. but this is great, the video quality makes it really enjoyable, see them bust there move. love the temps
I used to love to hear my mom and grandmother talk about how the talent shows at her elementary school on the last day of the school year.
No matter who was in that contest only one of three kids would go on to win it. It was either Al Wilson (who sang SHOW AND TELL) or David and Jimmy Ruffin in Meridian, Mississippi.
I wish that I had been born a few years earlier. It must have been an experience.
One reason this clip is so great, you actually get to see the on stage present of the Temptations, the symmetry of each member in the group is outstanding and it becomes crystal clear to the viewer eye when they line up next to each other.....
Thank you so much for this clip of the Temptations with my man David on lead, that man invented swagga , he was smooth and then Ruff and then he was bittersweet and icy hot, you couldn't comprehend him. Make no mistake these are the REAL Temptations.
Real Singing
Real Dancing
Real Style and POLISH.
The actors who where fortunate enough to impersonate them in the "movie" had to work very hard to capture the essence of their stage presence.
These men had the goods for sure. They invented their own SWAG and it was not FAKE.
Nobody was as smooth as the Temptations.
