  • WOW!! what a fuckin talent Randy was......he sounds better live then recorded and now days its the COMPLETE oposite with most music......the music industry has fucked up BIG TIME!

  • very cool.. have trouble Believing that this is from the soundboard, but after this tape got remade and passed around for 30 years, i see how the quality degenerates..

in addition to the random echo hes putting on the solo, sounds like hes also using some kind of octaver (or early gtr synth?) in the solo, too... this is very dif from other boots i heard from this tour.

  • i love it all but why would he use pretty much the whole solo from mr crowley??

  • Chunky tone here, with Randy's signature over-chorus effects. Great!

  • @Blues353 it's......well, divine, all over the place, not a mess, genius

  • There will never be another Randy Rhoads. This is my favorite Ozzy song with Randy. Thanks for this! RIP Randy.

  • wow, Randy!

  • how can there can be dislikes?!? how!?!?

  • @PurpleSnowFox No reason for the name calling. I thought he meant something else.

  • My god... My favourite Ozzy song, with Randy, performed just three hours from my home. Bittersweet.

  • My god... My favourite Ozzy song, with Randy, performed just three hours from my home. Bittersweet.

  • Randy was good. His personality, his talent and taken out with no pretection from evil because he chose to ride on the back of an evil one.OZZY

  • if Randy would to be alive,i just can think of his greatest, there is absolute no compare,he was way ahead of his time!

  • just sick.has to be 1 of the greatest rock licks ever.the guy was to good.damn.wish he never got on that stupid plane.just imagine.thanx for this 1

  • @BRIGHTSHNIDER Perfect English man the Message Is CLEAR!! Rock 'n Roll Randy lives on in our hearts forever!

  • @73sebrougham THANKS MY FRIEND

  • i mean randy is goo no denying that but zakk wylde is just awesome, there's somthing about him that just screams METAL!!!!!

  • preach it to me FATHER OZZY!!!!!!! nobody ever gives ozzy the credit he deserves for what he says in his songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just listen to the lyrics of this song, WATCHING THE TIME GO, FEELING BELIEF GROW. RISE ABOVE THE OBSTACLES!!!!! YOU GOTTA BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, OR NOONE WILL BELIEVE IN YOU!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!! oh yeah and RHANDY IS UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!

  • @ozzyhead73 The author of the lyrics to Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman is Bob Daisley, not Ozzy himself.

  • @ozzyhead73 ozzy didnt right the lyrics

  • Justin Bieber already has 2 biographies, and yet, there are no pro videos of him live. What an unfair world we live in.

  • great stage show no doubt. remember when they hung the midget, and then break out into Goodbye to Romance while he swings??? sick stuff but i loved it.

  • Wish I coulda seen Randy live but I was born 17 years after he died.

  • yeah Jackson guitars fukka!

  • BEST FUCKING OZZY song EVER!!! with the best heavy guitarist ever.... what do u want more? ... SEE THEM like me ! :D ozzy vocal sound so much more powerful live :P

  • oh man thats so overdosed

  • I was at this show, 5th row, also saw him at River Flat Jam on the UofM campus.

  • went to see ozzy with randy in 81 at port vale football ground in england, they played over the mountain and flying high off the diary of a madman album, feel blessed!

  • ohh never heard that solo.. i like the echo randy use... WELL i like everything of randy as any open mind guitarist xD \m/

  • Just Randy's pick can send Sakk far away

  • guys my first solo was inspired by Randy's Mr Crowley solo. When I recorded it I knew that he will be alive in my heart 4 ever!!!HARD ROCK / METAL RULE!!!!Don't let Randy be forgiven..I am 15 years old,so I will keep his spirit alive with my music if I can..RIP RANDY...

  • RANDY FUCKING RULES!!

  • @Melted...Good job son, if your friends like rock/metal, you have to get them into Ozzy, especially Blizzard of Ozz/Diary of a Madman, classics! And of course all of the Black Sabbath w Ozzy on vocals albums.

  • Keep Randy's spirit alive, he was always learning, not like these new 3 chord wannabees. I'm proud to see young people diggin the almighty Rhoads!

  • to bad more young guys dont listen to randy &ozzy the guys my daughters run with are hiphop punks i hate that shit

  • All you young guys you better keep Randy Alive and going don't listen to that emo bullshit ...step out from the bullshit

    Randy Rhoads .....

  • I'm 16 and i listen to this music more than anything. HATE THE EMO SHIT AND SO SHOULD THE REST OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!

I play R. Rhoads' stuff all the time.

  • I wasnt born til 13 years later..lol

  • Randy is a great influence on any guitarist that doesnt have their head up their ass.

  • I was 1. this is amazing.

  • 1/15/82 I was 7 days old!

  • I was still a a hippy sperm in my dads balls. I did pop out 4 years later :D

  • Randy blows zakk away, no way you can question that. sooooo great.

wish i was born earlier so i could see him live

  • @davyaelmans Randy and Zakk are totally different players, no matter how much people want to compare them. Zakk is more in the old blues man/EddieVH tradition. He doesn't really know all that much technically and he's extremely repetitious. Not bad, just repetitious. Randy is a classical guitarist at heart with a love for distortion. A closer comparison is Paul Gilbert, who is, imo, the closest we have to Randy now. Yngwie is classical but he leans too much on it. Randy knew to balance.

  • @davyaelmans zakk is still amazing, i just love the old shitt. its alot better than the new shit

  • @davyaelmans SOoooo True Bro` !!

  • @davyaelmans wish I was born earlier so I could tell Randy to take a bus.

  • @davyaelmans is that really necessary? this guitar player blows that guitar player away

  • I was at blizzard in long beach, ca 13 yrs old, drunk , wish I wasnt drinking, what a waste fell into the wrong crowd, was a sabbath fan had no idea what I was witnessing

  • I saw Randy in Sept. of '81 during the last week of the "Blizzard" tour. Greatest rock n rol memory of my life. His playing and stage presence were just beyond description. After the concert, I was in the right place at the right time to meet him very briefly and get his autograph. An incredible night.....an incredible memory.

  • OMG

wish I where born earlier, I'm 13 now...and Today we don't have many good bands or guitarists anymore...Rest in peace god Randy, My greatest inspiration and idol

  • haha true

  • I also got to see Ozzy on the DOAM tour in Feb. 1982 in Charleston, WV. Just after he bit the head off of the bat onstage, I was so excited to see what he was really like in concert. Ozzy was great, the castle themed stage was awesome but Randy just took over and little did I know I was watching a living legend that wouldn't be alive a month and a half later. I feel blessed to have seen him play live.

  • I was so Blessed to witness Randy in St. Louis back 2-6-82. Ozzy was all messed up but it didn't matter Randy stole the stage and floored everyone in the house.

  • I wish I could have been alive to see him play. He died 8 years before I was born... Randy has been a big influence on my guitar playing.

  • randy rhoads ....is the best

  • i was at this concert, freaking awesome!!

  • There must be a lot of unseen footage with much better quality. I mean Jimi Hendrix Live At Woodstock was filmed i 1969 and is great quality so why is this so bad, you would think they had advanced quite a lot in audiotechnology in thirteen years.

  • wow 1:29 - 1:32

  • need.. quality recordings.. ugh

  • Can't freaking believe how LITTLE video there is of Randy, but you can get a rappers life story from birth to their last meal, sucks!!

Why wasn't anyone taping this professionally???

    Insane!

  • there making a Randy Rhoads documentry

  • It better be an Autobiography.

  • hes dead you dumb fucker

  • OH RLY?

  • serious? where can i learN more?

  • I bet there will be a ton of repeat footage. There really isn't a lot of him... Anywhere..

  • when will it be released?

  • yeah i know what you mean. but i think that there is actually alot of footage not released... I know ozzy has a bunch locked up and is keeping away for respect reasons... but think about how big ozzy was back then... theres pro footage of him before and after rhoads... it exists but its hidden away =(

  • At the time, no one ever thought that Randy would become a Mega Influence to millions of adoring fans on how he played and toured with Ozzy.

  • No shit bro. This guy was a gift from God only here for a while. The modern day Mozart.

  • my opinion and alot of other peoples opinions are that sharon and his mom havent released them. cuz your right, how could there not be?? ya know. but i saw the doc. trailer and theres footage ive never seen before on there

  • I hope you're right. I'm a major Rhoads fan and would like to see some quality live stuff.

    Cheers!

They need to release it, the huge Rhoads fans are living right now (the people that actually saw him live) if they wait won't be as big of an interest, he will always be great but the next generation won't appreciate him like we do.

  • did you see him live??????? and i mean if me as a 14 year old loves him as much as a another 14 year old did in 1982 you dont think the next gen. will appreciate him.. man i hope so! ha. and yeah im sure of it(to the other footage)

  • Yes, I saw the Diary of a Madman tour in Evansville, IN or Chicago @ Rosemont can't remember been 27 years or so. I was 17 at the time.

Another cool thing I found, was looking for ticket stub to this show and ran across my Highway to Hell concert shirt 1979 with Bon Scott, still looks great, but too small now, ha.

Some cool stubs I did find, KISS for $9, AC/DC $11, Dio Holy Diver tour $13, prices sure were cheaper then!

  • thats sweet id do anything to see randy live

  • yeh i saw ozzy and motley crue in 83 for $12.50

  • Cool man, I'm 13 and I love Randy, he IS the best, no more to say

  • True that.

  • @SpaceAceTX Ozzy was taping it professionally but they never released the tapes. Now they are going to in November along with the original two cds with all of the original drums and bass. Around Thanksgiving i believe. Can't wait for it.

  • @vaibanez17 for real? holy shit man, that's amazing.

  • Yeah I can't wait for that to come out. It's a Randy fans wet dream.

  • @SpaceAceTX Because no one expected him to die so young. I'm now 12 years older than he was when he passed. Think about it, he's a healthy 25 yr old, living his dream. In retrospect that should'a been a sign but really...look at Brittany Murphy. Who would've predicted her death? We don't expect younger folks to die.

  • @Colierrannd2 True no one expected it, but look at the footage of every other flash in the pan no talent pop star. How long has that worthless piece of trash Lady ga ga been around, and look at the film wasted. This was his 2nd album & tour with Ozzy, voted best new guitarist of the year, remarkable talent yet no cameras were rolling!!!!

But they got plenty of footage of Men at Work and Flock of Seagulls that year since they were in Top 10 of year bracket, pretty disgusting

  • r.i.p randy. u are #1

  • Reminiscent of the King Biscuit Flower Hour Shows but wtf with the space invaders at 4:18?

FUCKING AWESOME EITHER WAY! Thanks Killingsense!

  • ok? so there is no existing live soundtracks of randy playing diary of a madman?

  • Nope. He never played it live.

  • So is this Randy I'm listening to or someone else?

  • It's him

  • I must have seen his ghost then , when I saw him play it live on the Diary tour.

  • @killingsense That really sucks too, no doubt it would've really showcase his versatility in a live setting.

  • What about Tribute?

  • Oh you must mean the song, sorry I thought you meant the album in general. Sorry, my mistake.

  • @killingsense then why is there a live version for the RR tribute?

  • @killingsense I do find that hard to believe.

  • @killingsense Serios WOW thats sucks that would be the most rairest thing on the planet

  • @randyrhoads4737 sad eh. Anything to do with Randy "on stage" is rare as rockin horse shit. God I WISH WE HAD MORE!

  • @randyrhoads4737 he has... actually... i have it on a video.. 81.. he plays it after over the mountain.. without the acoustic intro of the song... . dont listen to this newb

  • @wmehar2 what video did you see it on

  • This is the most exiting song to do live off diary of a madman to play live. It sounds wicked

  • @randyrhoads4737 He never played Diary of a Madman live on stage, he did play it at a Guitar Seminar held in PA on the DOAM tour, and that is on bootleg. It wasnt the full track, just broken down sections.

  • @korvettemaster is there anywhere i can hear it? That you might know about?

  • thats a great fuckign ending

  • Most people dont relize how small Randy was. I mean this Jackson is very small guitar and its almost as big as him. His hands were small and his playing was phenominal dispite.

  • I was there.NEVER before this had I seen an audience FULLY engaged on the show.Scariest (Really!) moment is goodbye to romance. The midget.iron man is running around te stage and gets HUNG! and is swinging behind the drums for the song!!Trick and all..fucking wicked!!!!

Best show ,damn near ever.2 odd months later ..good bye Randy.

  • HOLY SHET!!!! AWESOME!!!!

  • wow that was a good version and i like that pic of Randy where do you get those pics

  • Thanks for sharing this, I was at this very show!

  • Only randy can mess up his own solo to make it better than the original.

  • Randy was a tone MASTER! What an incredible stage sound.

  • Randy really could fill up that musical space. Wow, this sounds so big and powerful. RIP, Randy....

  • Randy was a great player. awesome metal player too, could be flashy, but tones of emotion, really dug in. The qualities alot of wanking, tapping guys miss out on. And randy could keep up or exceed those guys in speed, technique.....yes, Ozzy himself stated this song was a Purple Haze influence. The intro, & tempo to start, I hear it....Tjuliano, come out shooting with no idea what YOU are talking about.

  • Randy's feel and emotion, plus his musical knowledge, were what made him stand out. Oh, plus his tone and stage presence, too.

  • RR Tribute is still one of my favorite metal albums of all time. Technically there may be many more flashy guitarists than Rhoads, but Rhoads composed truly excellent metal tunes.

One of the very few that could write a solo worth listening to ... that didn't feel superfluous.

  • I think you have been smoking purple haze . so way off you must be stoned

  • reminds me of a reworked updated Purple Haze

  • The morons that disagree don't know this is exactly what Ozzy had in mind. This is influenced by Hendrix. Ozzy said in an interview.

  • is it me or after 2:55 does it start sounding alot like mr. crowley?

  • Dude, come on now.... are you serious? Why don't you just let me ask that question>

  • ???????????

  • the best solo of randy

  • You cant not listen to that riff from 2:37 to 2:55 and not nod your head to it :D

  • it would be so awesome playing on a set like that. Its a castle! now that is rock and roll!!!!!

  • actually, that set caused more problems then you could ever imagine. it may kick ass, but i think all the problems with monitoring and other audio would majorly outweigh the cool factor

  • yeah i know they had to place amps and moniters in all kinds of retarded places but i would made the set differently. i would have put the amps in the wallls of the castle behind big gates or something. but its still a kick ass set.

  • Yep. The whole band had a lot of problems when they first started rehearsing with the castle. I'm sure as hell glad I wasn't one of the crue setting up that stage for each concert. I wonder how long that would take.

  • probably a fricking long time. lol

  • One of the best stage set ups visually.Right there with Judas Priest's Screaming for Vengance mammoth multi level set-up of Marshalls. Also Iron Maidens Piece of Mind Egyptian set-up was awesome.

  • The Egyptian setup was on the Powerslave album's tour. I'm right. Check it.

  • I slipped on that one. Saw both tours just confused the 2. Both were amazing shows!

  • Metallica Justice set up was kick ass the one from 89 shit binge and purge. Those three are the best.

  • that solo sounds alot like mr crowley

  • No duh, lol, its like a remake of the solo, only in a different key, its still good

    R.I.P. Randy Rhoads

  • The album version was quite different, and really the only part that's the same as Crowley is the first couple measures. I'm pretty sure he used that one cuz he didn't like the studio one and felt it was really rushed (IDK if he ever got to a final version he liked alot but w/e it still rocks).

  • Yeah. You're right. For some reason the band was being rushed to finish the whole album. Therefore, the Believer solo is like Mr. Crowley's and also the solo in Little Dolls is just a scratch. Randy never had enough time to put the one he wanted in it.

  • Sort of, but I see what you mean, he did kind of rush, at least thats what it seems like

  • awesome

  • I cannot thank you enough for this. My Brother and I were there. I was 16, my Brother 13. We stole the parents car, drove 60 miles in the sub zero weather, and got grounded for a month for doing so. I have seen many rock concerts, and many Ozzy shows, and this by far was the most awesome. Ozzy in his prime with Randy. It is so awesome to here a show I was at so many years ago. Thanks so much!!!

  • Now that sounds awesome!

  • thats very inspiring...thx for sharing.

  • This Rocks!

  • I live in Minnesota!! I went to same concert in Target Center
