Han Solo enlisted as a cadet in the Imperial Navy, not as a stormtrooper. But according to some novels and short stories the Empire actively looked for soldiers, who were suitable as donors to produce new clones for the Stormtrooper Corps. Darth Vader himself controlled this program, at least for some time.

Oh, that is great. All we need is the laser weapons and a real life Imperial Army can be raised to fight terror. Nevermind, just plain Cloned troopers combined with a Terminator body and regular modern Elite Troops will do. A military draft creating an Army of Human officers for the Clones and the Special Forces could be great too.
