I used to watch "Black News" with my late grandfather every Saturday night on WNEW Channel 5 in New York and they would show this commercial EVERY WEEK. My grandfather would crack up at this commercial every time. Seeing it again after all these years makes me think of him. Thanks for bringing back a very happy memory.
I was about 10 yrs old when they started airing this commercial on TV. Me and some of my friends used to tease our other friend because his mom's name was Diane. We would see him and go "Oh, Diane." Back in the 80's, if a woman told you her name was Diane, the first thing you thought of was this commercial.
That's before people were 'out of th closet' about weaves. You'd think you were watching a special ops exercise by the time, you saw all of those dark glasses and over coats, entering through the back door.
I wonder if Diane is still doing hair. I was a friend of Guy and would like to make contact. I was also a client. Even spent some time at Diane's "estate" with Guy. Was a friend to Guy's sister too.
THis is sooo funny, I haven't seen this commercial since I was in Junior high. Isn't that ist girl they show the girl prince Hakim was to Marry in 'Coming To America'? And he tells her to "Bark like a dog"? Or am I just trippin'. Damn, I watched way too much t.v. in my youth.

My boss' name is Diane. You KNOW I say this every time I see her! She didn't grow up in NY and thinks I'm crazy.
