  • SOB. Ahhhh. I LOVE YOU, MOIRAINE. ;) But I'm happy now. Although I wish RJ could be here to see this, as BS doesn't write very well, imo. :(

  • Amazing... absolutely amazing...

Does anyone else get the epic tears from reading this story? You know when something is just so incredibly awesome you get tears from it? This book gives them to me too much... I can't even imagine how the last book is going to be and I haven't even started on ToM let alone MoL...

  • O____________O Well that was great.

  • Walk in the Light, Robert Jordan

  • I still think people are underestimating what a movie on the Eye Of the World would really mean. The google search spike alone from a teaser trailer would be worth it even as a buzz maker.

  • After what happened to Tolkiens work, I would hate seeing WoT butchered to fit a time frame. If you can't hold still for long enough to read this epic tale, then its obviously not for you. The watering down of fantastic literature is too common place. Save WoT the shame, there's already a 'game' out there. Don't beat a broken horse :(

  • @MCLudafiske you are right. But I love the WoT so much that I would probably watch and love anything that came out onto film or a TV series.

  • Spoiler warning anywhere? :(

  • Very cool but the voice sounds almost electronic, like from a text-to-speech tool. Aside from that, so great!

  • Or maybe she helps with channeling the unlimited power of Callandor somehow. One or the other, she has to have a GIGANTIC role to play, not just some wussy little lesson about forgiveness to teach to Rand.

  • According to Min Farshaw, Rand is going to fail at the Last Battle without Moiraine there. So what could she possibly bring to the table that could help win. The ability to create new seals is my guess! Seals that are made by women and men, not just the ones that Lews Therin made that were all man-made with no women involved. The seals are FOCUS POINTS, and Moiraine just happens to be the only one specaialized in using things for a Focus.

  • @Bobaganush26 Perhaps, but it seems unlikely to me... Rand will have no use for seals this time: he must seal the Bore as it was originally - as if it were never broken into - ready for someone like Mierin to rediscover it in the next AoL.

  • @ADissociation You are correct, I know this knowledge, but completely forgot about it. Yeah it has to be whole again, but there is a chance that it could be made whole in another age, not this one. But I think your right, it will be made whole this time. I was just saying that Moiraine wil help, in a circle with Callandor, Rand either seal it up, or completely remake it. I just found it unusual for RJ to put that stuff about Moiraine needing a staff for a focus, at the beginning of the story

  • @Bobaganush26

I agree, except for one thing, she never said she NEEDED it, she said it HELPS her focus, which are 2 different things, I'd guess it's like a place where you can concentrate better, something to put your Focus into, which I'd say makes it easier to do a lot of things.

Imagine it like this, you have to think of something special, b ut it comes hard to you, would be easier if you had something in your hands which you always had with you from that time on.

  • @ADissociation - Absolutely correct. But he'll need female help to accomplish that.

  • @Bobaganush26 It's a decent theory, but I have to disagree. I think Rand will get femail help creating more complete seals through femail help by working with Nynhaeve, Egwene's Tower, and--to a lesser extent--Elayne. I think what Moiraine will bring him is a more emotional/spiritual guidance. He took a major step in the right direction in Book 13, but it's still one that takes him further from the rest of humanity.

  • @melissaanderic Well, your forgetting the viewing Min had of Rand's failure for sure at the Last Battle without Moiraine being there. So if theres no chance of his success without her, then what could she possibly do to help him WIN? Must be something EPIC! Either help save his life, or help him via a circle with another women and Callandor. I think I abandoned the seals theory. I don't think new seals will be made. I think the bore will be sealed completely new. But she will help somehow

  • I have re-read books 1 - 11 at least seven times, and book 12 three times. I am quite positive I have figured out Moiraine's purpose and importance to the story. Book 2 ( The Great Hunt) page 46-and Book 3 (The Dragon Reborn) page 669 hold the answers. Its the only thing that seperates Moiraine from any other female Aes Sedai, the fact that she started out using a focus to channel, because she thought it neccesary. All threw the first book she uses a staff to focus with. The seals/focus points

  • They should seriously start thinking on producing this epic masterpiece by Jordan into a movie(s) on a grand scale. That would be a befitting tribute to Jordan's WOT....

  • @kumarKL85 I think they would be more fitting as a series on TV, one season for each book ;)

  • @RebelAngel474 Yeah but not on any of the main networks. HBO or Showtime should make it. If not, it will get cancelled after 2 episodes like they do anything that isn't reality shows.

  • very nice!

  • If you're interested in reading all 13 of Robert Jordan's "Wheel Of Time" novels you can

p.m. me to get the link.

It includes his novels of "Conan The Barbarian" and some extras of WOT.

  • No spoilers but that book was epic. I can't wait until the final book comes out. I agree about the voice, in the book it describes it as a kind of chime like sound, or musical quality. The Keira Knightly thing is genious she's Beautiful, and has musical sound to her voice also she short so it fits the character. But she doesn't really have an intimidating appearance though. I always thought of Moiraine as kind of a domineering figure.

  • @TheAcesNeights It was more for her British accent over her looks, along with the musical tone of her voice and that accent...just seemed to fit Moiraine to me. I think Rachel Weiz (sp) should play her if there was ever a movie though.

  • Book trailers usually make me want to throw the book in a river, but... this is actually not half bad :D

  • I'm a bit disappointed with this book Brian Sanderson apparently didn't do his homework. Several things he got wrong:

    1. Aviendha should have pass through the glass columns once not twice.

    2. The things in the world of dreams should've fixed themselves within moments after destruction.

3.Egwene and the wise ones should have annihilated the Black Ajah using the dream ter'angreal which required channeling since it makes them very weak.

    4. I doubt if Mats Ashandarie's staff part was made of wood.

  • @MrLimsky83

    1. It, er, seems you missed the point completely. I strongly suggest rereading the relevant chapters.

    2. A minor detail in all honesty. And with all the destruction flying around a lot of stuff probably re-broke.

    3. Not all of the ter'angreal stolen required channeling. The original twisted ring was one of those stolen.

    4. I believe it's stated at several points it's wood. If nothing else, no big deal is made of the staff's material at any point, unlike the blade's.

  • @Whitecroc

    1. I read that part clearly "Her first time through the pillars, each step had taken her backward toward the age of legends..."ave 2. Nope the fight was over and there were still some rubble. 3. Most did require channeling so it would still have been easy. 4. I concede that its wood but even so it should not have been damage so easy by a fire

    and

    5. Where the freak did Rand get his ancient sword with the dragon scabbard it nowhere in the book?

  • @MrLimsky83 I think she somehow triggered the walk forward in time herself, I seem to remember her channeling at them, thinking that they hold nothing for her that she didn't know since Rand's proclamation at Alcair Dal. And, since they walk back will no longer tests the Aiel like it did, now the walk forward will forge them instead. Ter'angreal are made for a specific purpose. The columns were made to shape the Aiel, weed out the weak from the strong, I think it just changed how it did this.

  • @MrLimsky83

    1. It's clearly spelled out that her second journey through the glass pillars was unheard of. She spends most of the two chapters there wondering why the visions were different.

    2. Consistent damage may have prolonged the effect. Honestly, it's not a big deal since very little time was spent in T'A'R after the fight.

    3. As is stated, they still outnumbered Egwene et al. How their channeling was affected is uncertain, as we only know that Nynaeve had trouble channeling when blocked.

  • @MrLimsky83

    4. It's described as smoking a bit, and being a bit singed afterward. Perfectly reasonable.

    5. The sword is most likely Justice, Artur Hawkwing's sword. Rand would've recognized it from Falme.

  • Anyone know where the dragon-sword comes from? the one that rand recognizes from his own memories that he revieves from the Aiel in the gathering storm?

  • @16Canadian probably just a power-wrought sword that the dragon used in the age of legends

  • @16Canadian

I think it might have been Turak's. It's mentioned that it's from his own memories.

  • Actually, scratch that. It seems Brandon Sanderson confirmed it to be Justice, Artur Hawkwing's sword, which Rand saw at the Battle of Falme.

  • The voice over was off. Yes, she has a very nice voice, and it is great for storytelling - but in this video, she is not supposed to be storytelling, but ACTING the part of Moiraine. Tor should have hired a voice actress, not a narrator, for this trailer.

  • it's arweeeeen. looks like her nyway. the vid is cool, but the voice... was kinda off,

  • LIGHT! my stomoch writhed with butterflys watching this. with book eleven in hand, i debate whether i should continue reading. im afraid of finishing the books written so far but i want to know everything now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I watched this video 10 times now and it still gives me goosebumps even after reading the book.

  • The voice is actually the woman who does the audio books which are awesome .

  • that was hardcore.

  • you need to turn this in to a MOVIE!!!!! Cheer for them to turn this in to a MOVIE MOVIE ,MOVIE, MOVIE ,MOVIE, MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE ,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • @phatyking13 Nooooo....maybe if they had the dedication that Anderson gave LotR. And not let them turn it into another D&D movie, or Eragon.

  • @Keihryon I hear that. too true man, every word. But I can't even begin to fathom the sheer immensity of the special effects budget alone, let alone what would be required to do the series justice. I think it is destined to remain a book, for all times.

  • @MattBOrange What if HBO serialised it? I'm holding out for great things from their Game of Thrones serialisation. It would also give the scope to do the whole thing justice.

  • @stonedog6 That is probably the best hope that we will ever have of seeing a good live action version. somehow i cant see even HBO signing up for the long hall necesary to turn more than 10,000 pages into screenplay. and given their track record for trading authenticity for sensationalism, i dont know if i would really want even that to happen...

regardless, i believe that a dedicated cartoon series, where actor aging dosnt matter, is the answer to our prayers.

  • @MattBOrange IMDB has "The Eye of the World" listed as a possible 2011 movie release, with Universal Pictures holding the rights... I'm not sure what to think of this as each book being compressed into anything less than 4-6 hours wouldn't do the story any real justice. A miniseries for each book, or a CG or animated story would likely do far better at not butchering this great tale. Hopefully it will be half as good as LotR and ten times as good as the Potter or Narnia conversions.

  • @Shatteredragon maybe make it into an HBO series of some kind?

  • i swear they used one of those voice generators for moiraine's voice

  • im just finishing book 3 and i love moiraine

  • MOIRAINE IS BACK BITCHES.......love her

  • I've just finished the book today, and it's definitely the best series I've ever read. It's just... I can't describe how awesome it is. It feels like an orgasm that's over 800 pages long.

  • I did not know that books had movie trailers. This is so awesome. I'm about 1/3 through the book and it I find it even better than the last one. To the person below, most of the people I know that read this series are girls, not guys.

  • @Nihilist15 Actually, this is older than Twilight and has more indepth story than Twilight could ever dream of. Ive been reading this it first came out, and will continue to reread it every chance i get.

  • @Nihilist15 Twilight is emo/teen angst. The Wheel of Time is not only a different genre entirely (Epic High Fantasy), but it's on a different level in every way it's possible for one series of books to be when compared to another.

Plus, the first Wheel of time was published in January of 1990. 'Twilight for boys'? Not a chance.

  • I hate Elayne! She should probably die during childbirth(that bitch)..Rand should end up with Min or Aviendha..but since Min is no Aes Sedai she would grow old too fast for Rand. so Im hoping Rand and Aviendha would end up ruling over Andor and Caiehein..Rand's father was an aiel so it would make sense..Mat is my favourite character though, i hop to read more about the adventures of TBOTRH in future..Mat n birgitte should be a pair too, they compliment each other perfectly..DIE TUON! DIE ELYANE!

  • @themosthandsomedude If you are going to whine, at least get the names right.

  • @chibidrin Fuck you! and I did get the names right bitch!

  • The book was great. Awesome. Wonderfull. Better than what i expected.

  • awesome job, goosebumps up to yingyang. imagine a real series. sigh

  • This book is bloody amezing indeed. Its a sad thing that its almost over and that i finish the book so fast :(, I cant wait until the last book is comes out! BAH now i have too wait a year for the last book, the last battle is indeed near!!!! :S

  • bloody brilliant!

Now I want a live action TV series!!!

  • @gsapient Only if they stay true to the story, and don't make it as campy and low budget as Legend of the Seeker was..is? Also heard from fans of that series that they butchered the story.

  • Cool video, but..the voice isn't right. I know that just an opinion, but I could've sworn her voice was described as being more musical, entrancing, regal. Too bad they couldn't get Keira Knightly to do it. Because I always imagine her voice with a British accent for some reason.

  • @Keihryon Ya i didn't like this voice either. It's not how i imagined it.

  • @Keihryon

It's voiced by Kate Reading, who has been the female narrator voice for all WoT audio books. Despite it being read from Moiraine's perspective, it feels more familiar to me hearing it from Kate. It might not be the case for those who've never heard the audio versions, though.

  • @Keihryon omg you're so right, like british but I always imagined it as a higher pitch than this woman.

  • @Keihryon maybe you're right. but "kate reading" is the reader of the audiobooks. so I'm sure many people like me felt more than familiar, actually excited when hearing her

  • @Keihryon I think the woman doing the voice is the woman who reads the audio books. not sure, but it sounds like her. they may have taken the sound clip directly from the aduio book.

  • @Keihryon Yeah, but remember that this is just a teaser. The team who created it used the voice reader of the audio books. I actually thinks it's okay. The voice has the wise and calm feeling as an Aes Sedai.

  • @Keihryon Hi Keihryon, I know this vid is quite old but just to say ... Moiraine is Carhienin and Carhien is inspired from France (at least the Carhienin Nobles ... the Soldiers are japanese-inspired IIRC) ... so Moiraine should have a French accent ;). Actually Carhien names are quite French in their spelling ... No pun intended I'm bored this evening :).

  • Is the voice Kate Reading, one of the readers for the audiobooks?

  • @oraclecrank Yes, indeed. Good ear.

  • @Keihryon - I'm 99.99% sure that voice is Kate Reading, the woman who has read all female-focused scenes for the audiobook recordings throughout the series. I understand prefering a more lyrical voice, but for a lot of people, Kate Reading is the voice of the Wheel of Time. For a more regal, lyrical voice, Keira 's great, but she her voice sounds young. I'd think you'd need a more mature voice. I'm thinking Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie, or Catherina Zeta Jones.

  • gaah im so excited

  • Her eyes are simply amazing, some people say black eyes are souless and dark, (black is rare, as dark brown sometimes look black), even though my eyes are emerald, her eyes are just as amazing!

  • I knew she was Moirane before it was revealed in the video after like 7 years reading the last book. I am sending my Best Regards from earth, Robert.

  • I'm really glad I finished the book before coming onto youtube and being hit by people posting blatant spoilers! Think about the people who haven't finished it yet guys...

  • who or what are the people with the red veils at the end of the book???? and verin cudnt have asked mat to open the letter a week earlier ???????????

  • Too bad, we can't read it before the end of the world :) Brandon, you must hurry up ! Or Great Pattern'll ravel :)

  • @roguexxx

nope nevermind, I see an update in october on his website to that saying probably march 2012. dang.

  • @roguexxx

    Great comment!:)

  • just finished the book last night, and just watched the trailer. I thought it would have been more revealing. But the trailer was pretty cool. The book was pretty amazing.

  • My eyes watered watching this. I've waited for her to return for so long.

  • I finished the book yesterday after buying it day 1. Man I got so addicted to reading it and holding back a bit. Now I have to wait till 2012 for the next one...

  • Just finished reading the whole book in under 7 days...........

I feel sad now coz ive got another whole year to wait for the next one.....

wished i hadnt devoured the book so quickly

  • @roguexxx

same feeling here.....and the same feeling i had with the last book too.

  • @pixcalcis

After finishing the last book in 5 days i vowed i wont make the same mistake again with this new one-i intended to make it last for like a month just to savour it...but i cant help myself and finished it in 7 days(at least not 5)

Whens the next book out again?

  • I nearly cried out of joy, I want!

  • The book was awesome! 18 hours of reading, followed by a year of waiting. Don't know if I should be happy or sad that it's almost over...

  • Fuck yes OMG been waiting for this for ever awesome awesome awesome going and buying it rite now yes

  • Very cool. Last night at a book signing in Dallas I met the woman in this video. If she hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have known this existed.

  • Goose-pimples all over my body

  • Damnit! I need to get a copy now.

  • This was such a good book

  • MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIINE

  • WOTGASM omg dude i cant wait to get this tommorw

  • Too bad the voice actor is a robot.

  • Ive got the book !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im jumping up and down with glee..it feels like Christmas came really early for me......gotta go and read it and have a WOTGASM lol

  • Beautiful! I can't wait to get my hands on this book.

  • oh HELL YEA!!!

I heard they are going to turn the books into movies and if that trailer is anything close to what they can do in a movies its going to knock LOTR down a few notches..

    and I second that WOTGASM!!!

  • PHAT....

  • oooo chills and goosebumps!

  • Awesome...

  • Holy shit!

  • wohoo.... i really hate the covers of the book but this trailer is awesome!

  • Reading it NOW?! Oooo....

Perfect, perfect, perfect casting for Moraine...

  • Amazing series, I can't wait till tommorow LOL (Techinically im reading it now, but Ill hush cuz I dun wonna be banned..)

  • @reddevil1111able

Really now. It's rather sad that you waste some of the precious time you have left on this small planet trying to troll a youtube trailer about a series of books you supposedly haven't read for a decade.

Perhaps you should take your own advice, I heard bridges are real nice this time of year.

  • @reddevil1111able I would love to know what you consider well written. You are a troll and you tell people to go outside and play? wow. You are a wanker.

  • @reddevil1111able 44 million plus copies sold world wide begs to differ with your assessment. Just because you don't have the attention span required to stick with something doesn't mean that its poorly written. Jordan's world surpasses Tolkien's in nearly everyway imaginable, and IMO ranks behind only Michael Moorcock's Elric Saga as the greatest Fantasy fiction series ever.

  • WANT now, hate the time difference it's already the 2nd here

  • EPICCCCCCCCCCCCCC

  • Its finally coming. After 20 years its finally going to finish. I am so happy and sad.

  • OHMYGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moiraine!!!!!!!!!!!! And the Great Serpent Ring!!!!! - Im wearing one of those at this minute(on my right finger ring though)and its worth every £ !!!

I am soooooo gonna get Towers of Midnight on the 2nd of November 2010 come rain or shine

  • Finally... FINALLY I know how to say her name. English is not my native language and I had no idea how to pronounce Moiraine :D

    Sounds like... more rain :(

  • I get chills every time I watch this. Especially right after "perhaps I will see you again soon". 100k by Tuesday is within reach!

  • I'm watching this again and Light, this is amazing! So pumped for Tuesday!

  • Comment removed

  • FUCK YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH TORTUGAN!

  • Moraine is a badass (the best female character imho). i'm glad she's finally coming back. the other girls are just annoying

  • Holy shit! I haven't even finished reading Knife of Dreams yet!! I'm so pumped for these next books though! I hope Brandon Sanderson didn't ruin anything.....

  • @FallenSilverRoses Sanderson is god he totaly kicked the series back into gear

  • They need to leave Moiraine there...listening to her and every other single woman in the series open their mouths and give what they think is good advice gets old.

Egwene and Nynaeve thinking they're the shit because they can channel now. The best thing that ever happened was Mat getting the necklace, protecting him from the One Power. Just slap them hoe's, and kill them off.

  • @OwnMaNoWaR

no offence or anything, but i want to kick you in the mouth.

  • @OwnMaNoWaR You're just a troll.

  • @OwnMaNoWaR You idiot. Moraine's different from the others.

  • @OwnMaNoWaR stop thinking only with the hairs on your chest moron....do you even have hairs on your chest? lol

  • I am still working on reading book 12 and can't wait to get to book 13. I am looking forward to the rescue of Moiraine. She is the only fictional character that has ever "died" in a book that made me feel shocked. She was an amazing character and I am glad that she will still be part of the series.

The character in this video looks exactly how I pictured her too.

  • I cried! It is her time to return! OMG!!!!

  • 5 days left ... RAWR !

  • Only a week left~

  • Comment removed

  • @jesbmwb6 I think it is. It sounds exactly like her.

  • Is this Kate Reading narrating?

  • This just makes me want the whole series made into 13 fully funded fully featured movies.

  • @Caboosen you mean 14? Or do you mean cut out Crossroads of Twilight? Could you imagine that book being made into a movie?

  • i got goosebumps then had an explosive WOTgasm that left me breathless and half alive until i get to finally read the new book.

  • jizz in my pants...

  • ME WANTS WoT MOVIESSSSS

  • Hopefully Moiraine can reclaim her place as Rand's advisor, though I like Nynaeve as well.. I'm glad he exiled Cadsuane, though I suppose he may revoke that in his newfound happiness and light from the end of 12.

I'm also looking forward to some Mat action, can't wait for the familiar dice rolling in his head!

  • AWESOME

  • I hope that one day they can make these books into a series of movies. I just hope if they do they can do them justice.

  • Cant wait

  • It's cold in my room, but I didn't have goose-bumps until I realized who it was that was talking. HOOOOOLY CRAP! I can't wait!

  • oh shit! She's finally back!

  • This is so epic!! can't wait for the book too come out!!!

  • Impressive work.

  • HOLY CRAP THIS IS AWESOME

  • Did anyone else get goosebumps from this?

  • @sussexcountyangel I totally did. This is so EPIC!

  • @sussexcountyangel I still get them!

  • @sussexcountyangel yep followed by a shiver in the spine!

  • @sussexcountyangel Watched this a number of times already, and just watched it again, and I still had goosebumps! How I wish the book will be released in my country on Tuesday as well. Flaming fishguts!

  • @garylaiho NO, that's horrible! Where do you live? When does it release there?

  • @sussexcountyangel In the Philippines. Sea Folk ships don't get here, I guess. The Gathering Storm hit the local bookstores one or two months later. I just might drop by the bookstores every day starting tomorrow.

  • @garylaiho Are there issues with you buying from like amazon & having it shipped to you? The cost of shipping would totally be worth saving the wait :)
