What did you do at the end in Italy? I hope you enjoyed it. Btw, I like your piano lessons, but I can't find your sheet music in your blog. Grande Chris! Can you play The Crave by Jelly Roll Morton?
I've never been there but I imagine, eat pizza, pasta and all the great italian cuisine, watch soccer in a bar, visit art exhibitions, go (window) shopping for luxury italian fashion....
Chris man, that is excellent! Great idea getting this video up.
We gotta get together for coffee soon, brainstorm some ideas!
When your out in Italy, keep an eye out for pianist Enrico Pierenunzi, or Stefano Bollani -- they are my two favorite guys and if you can go see them you have to! You just have to! And you have to mini-disc it for me and bring it back so I can pretend I was there, hahaha!
if you make it to rome, there is a pizza place called la fenice, near the metro stop cipro. Best pizza i have eaten in my life. I lived in rome for 5 months and i can safely say that it is the best pizza in the city
I lived in Italy for 1 year. Definitely Rome, Florence and Venice ... Milan is a nice city but nothing outstanding. If you have time and is prepared fo a more "roots" kind of experience, you can also visit Napoli. I would say at least 3 full days in Rome, 2 in Florence/Venice and 2 for Napoli.
You're welcome Chrismarx. I would suggest the great historical towns. You can't miss Rome, Florence and Venice. I live in a Podunk village near Austria, far away from those places and important towns. Try to put a message for finding friends on a specialized forum for musicians. For instance

Italian cities are great for walking and getting lost in.
carry a map. get lost and find your way back. You're certain to find something wonderful.
Most of the standard touristy things are actually great except for the vatican museum which is over crowded
even if you're not religious most of the great churches are worth a look.
carry a guide book but don't let it lead you let it lead you around.

You know I just might; I really want to get in a trip before my passport expires in February. Enjoy your trip!

when you're in rome you should take a tour from love4adventure
they're freaking incredible people
here's the key, chat it up with your tour guide so you can hang out with them later, they'll show you an awesome time
and they're definitely going to be either a Canadian or an American.
Also, if you hit up the Alps, Cortina is beautiful.
Have fun, Italy is incredible!
