  • Please people we only make slaves of ourselves by not letting the chains of the past unshackled us. Break free and move forward together. India and Pakistan have such a wealth of culture. All communities suffered. As a Pakistani we should stop the arabisation of Pakistan

  • Does anyone know what the song they're playing in the background is called!? That instrumental music is amazing.

  • Jinnay Lahore nai takeya oh Jameya hi nahi.....Lahore lahore ey ....

  • LAHORE AND KOLKATA WERE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CITIES IN INDIA BEFORE THE PARTITION........BUT WHEN THE PARTITION OF INDIA WAS TAKING PLACE THEY BOTH BECAME THE PLACE OF DEATHS......

  • Thank you for this fascinating video. My family had to leave Lahore after Partition and we are now exiles in England.

  • There needs to be a partition museum on the lines of the holocaust one in Israel. Reading the comments a Muslim says we suffered most and a Hindu or sikh will he suffered a 100 times more, fact is all three suffered, in my friends eyes Hindus and Sikhs were forced out of Pakistan, many Muslims wanted to head to Pakistan, in India many helped and encouraged Muslims to stay, no such help was there for Hindus and Sikhs who were left to be slaughtered, many Sindhi Hindus left post partition

  • Even after what she saw and suffered she hold no I'll feeling to Muslims and her best friend today, living in the uk is a Pakistani Muslim. She says all communities participated but in west Punjab & sindh & nwfp & Baluchistan Sikhs & Hindus suffered more just as in east Punjab, up, Bihar the Muslims suffered more, out of all the bug cities, Lahore witnessed the worst violence and suffered the most

  • It's so sad what happened in Lahore, my best friend is Sikh and his grandmother and her older sister were the only two who survived from a huge extended family, they were gang raped & the girl cousins kidnapped and converted & the rest murdered, whilst left for a dead a Sikh doctor looking for his sister found them & took them both to Jalandhar, they later married & older sister married his brother

  • great video........lahore is lahore

  • THIS BBC CRAP MAKES ME MAD!!! BBC is the WORST of all media. Both my paternal and maternal families are from Lahore, just a few weeks ago my grand father passed away. In his last days he rarely spoke of people who were alive. He became paranoid and was in the mindset of the partition. He would wake up in the middle of the night and ask women go and hide and he would try to barricade the place and secure processions.....

  • ... these traitors or made up people in this #%&^ing documentary can go to hell, the people of Pakistan know what they went through. The partition was the the biggest and bloodiest forced migration in human history and everyone knows the Muslims suffered the most. Our fathers made the choice to sacrifice for OUR today. We owe it to them to make it a better place and Inshallah we will. This propaganda should only reinforce the fact that the enemies want to rewrite the history.

  • I must not work... it will not work... Pakistan Zindabad!!!!

  • One of my uncles who passed away a year or so ago was a baby at that time, only survived coz an elder family member hid him under a water well as marauding gangs targeting Muslims swept through the neighborhood carrying special killing tools for babies and adults. When was the last time you heard about those who killed the most?? I will never make excuses for any atrocity committed by those who called themselves Muslims. But I WILL NOT tolerate this propaganda which rewrites history. NEVER!!!!

  • You listen to this and if you didn't know any better you leave with the impression that it was all Muslims. Sikhs and Hindus did 100 times worse, that is a fact!!!! These BBC b@$#@rds will continue with their ways. I have personally met Hindus whose families had to leave Lahore and it makes my heart ache, but I WILL NOT TOLERATE this rewriting of history. Say the truth or SHUT UP!!! DAMNED BRITS!!!

  • @bravo45 Well, I don't think Sikhs or Hindus were worse- it was, from what I've heard, equally bad. But I'm assuming that in Lahore after June 1947 the violence was largely one way.

  • @bravo45

Well said! As a woman and a religious Muslim, I feel genuinely sad for ALL the innocent ppl who were murdered and forced away from their homes. Doesn´t matter if you´re Muslim, Hindu, Sikh etc. You´re part of Allah´s/God´s creation...you have the right to choose your lifestyle.

However, it´s interesting to see that even in such a tiny clip from a programme, the hate propaganda against Muslims is evident. I´m a Lahori and to say that Lahore is only death and backward is...

  • @bravo45

..is truly misleading and prejudiced. So what, just because you left, you deem it as a dead city?!

And did they just "forget" to tell the stories about the million, MILLIONS of Muslims who were forced away from Indian cities for fear of their lives? Truly one sided documentary.

Lahore is still a very open city. Why else would thousands of Sikhs come for the pilgrimage every year to LHR? They´re welcomed with open arms. Ask them. There are interviews here on YT to prove it.

  • @Khwaab My friend have a big heart Hindu Punjabis are the original people of Punjab, Muslims are Hindu converts. As for Sikhs welcomed with open arms sounds mishchevious because what you did to them in the past is well known.

  • @andy4hillman

Oh so, what I´m saying sounds mischieveous? I wonder where that would place YOUR words then?

Sikhs are welcomed with open arms because they come with love and respect.i And they understand and share some aspects of Islam, such as the Sufi saints´ poetry and tombs. They come there to pray, not fight.

"What YOU did to them....". Sigh! Even a sikh would tell you what happened on BOTH sides. War is rarely one sided. I have relatives who´ve experienced it first hand so..

  • @andy4hillman

..so I hardly have to ask you to tell me what is "well known".

"Slavish mentality"? I won´t be answering any more of your thoughts because you contradict yourself quite well in every reply. You´re trying to convince me that I, as a descendant of Afghans, am a Hindu convert when my forefathers were most likely to be Zoroastrans? So you just want me to be a slave to Hindu ideas and lies? I think that proves that you just have a problem with ppl having other ancestry..

  • @andy4hillman

..ancestry than Hindu? "Muslims are Hindu converts"...he he! Okay, so every fourth human being (yup that´s the statistic) is a Hindu convert?

I wouldn´t mind having Hindu forefathers cause I´m not racist towards Hindus...but I´m not racist towards Arabs either. I think there´s something beautiful with every culture. Meanwhile...I´m quite proud and happy to be a descendant of Afghan warriors who moved to present day Pakistan many generations back.

    Peace!

  • i am from india but i am missing something . i hope you people of pakistan would miss us.

  • @rodtorre7 Theres nothing you hindus can do about it. Lahore will always be part of the ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN.

  • @wsnyc80 we do not need to do anything...we believe in non-violence. TALIBAN & USA is doing it all

  • @wsnyc80 u will destroy Lahore one day with your slavish mentality, like following Arabs and Americans as their slaves
