@bizcad you really dont need it as you're not supposed to simply copy settings just use his synths as a basis. i usually use the main thor patches and do everything else on my own. you dont want ur patches to sound exactly the same
When I make a sub in Thor on Reason 5 with the octaves apart like that it usually does this thing where it switches between the octaves when a new note is played, so every note sounds like it's in a different octave than the last even though it's not. I can't figure out why the hell this is happening, it never happened in Reason 4!
i think the style preference is split into those who are new to production and those more experienced... imo this new way is better but it would be nice to see more detail in this method, just to teach the newbies some stuff so we can stop depending on tutorials for all our patches :)
The new way (this video) is good because the info is more compact. However, did not say the settings for indivdual controls. For example, on the vocoder, I was not able to see what the settings were for that number 5 band and that is the most important setting to get the patch right. Or on the octave settings for the Thor oscs.
So I vote for the new way as long as you make sure to point out what the settings are so I do not have to guess, like what you did for the LFO at 3/16.
I prefer this method, if people are having trouble understanding whats happening they can always check back on your earlier videos; its quite off putting to have to watch almost 20mins of a tutorial, such as your earlier videos, personally i think this one covers the right amount of detail whilst keeping concise. Top Work!
Also, as people are doing requests: More porter, knife party style synths! I love them! Also some more progressive deadmau5y synths would be really cool!
i really like both ways, but i can see this way being easier for you and a lot easier for more experienced users. but for beginners i could maybe see it being harder? im not sure, but i guess its just something to think about :P. anyways i really love ur tutorials, they are really cool and helpful! :D and even though a bajillion people are already making requests, could maybe a long the road you make a big sounding chords patch? cause i personally have trouble making big sounding chords :)
Ps. Could you give a list of you're fave Refills? Especially ones that have actual patches, not just samples and loops. I just got two Prime Loops refills and its all samples and loops and I have no idea how to implement them into my production. So lost.
Again thank you so much for spreading your knowledge. You have single handedly took my electronic production up a few and I cant thank you enough for that!
@IamKillerB I rarely use any refills with actual patches, I build all my patches myself, which is why I'm doing this series. It's supposed to give some insight into the synth making process.
I have watched all your tutorials (thank you btw) and I think this way is just as good. If not better. Takes less time but still gain the same knowledge and if needed could still do the patch step by step via "pause" on the video and then copy the settings. You have helped me so much!! Thank you a ton and please please dont stop! You're production level is bomb and by far know your way around reason more than anyone else out there doing tutorials. Again thank you.
@ODSTHelljumper this is a dope tut...can u please make a tut on how to arrange a track like where should be the drops[like base drops etc],the pitch bends...build up,how to start a song, hook etc...how to make a track in a sequencer window u know what I mean...plz...
NIce Tutorial! I really see no problem with you Doing your tutorials this way. Some people may prefer you do them from Scratch to be able to follow better, but i really don't think its a big deal. I'm not even using reason but i can get the same results in pretty much any synth. so it works either way!. BTW Your drums on this are really nice as well Specially the SNARE!!! would you mind telling us how you made the drums on this? that be really Dope.
Thanks. Good tutorial and natural explanation. This is a better style for those looking to work on these things themselves.

Love the new style of tutorial! As a semi-experienced producer having to sit through someone explaining what LFO or ADSR means can be tedious!
Also more synths!! Your tracks sound so good, please share more of your awesome synthsounds!

i prefer the building it from scratch

Could you do a tutorial on your formanty type bass from your second free track the one that keeps saying bitch I think its diplomacy
OfficialXsist 2 months ago
@OfficialXsist It is diplomacy indeed but there are 3 basses in there, one I already covered in the last episode. What other bass do you mean?
