So, I was reading the 201, and apparently, the arms are only supposed to go up to breast pocket height either when the CO specifies, or under specified training purposes. Same with the knees going up 90 degrees for standing drill or marking time. Arms are supposed to be waist high, and the knees only go up 45. The reason why it was expanded was to improve agility.
@MessiahComing According to BR1834, Royal Navy Drill Manual, arms are swung to own shoulder height, and a standard marching pace is 30inches (27inches for cadets). We never raise the leg to 90 degrees.
intesesting how they flale there arms i dont see why they do that nothing agent the sea cadets althow i dont realy know what they are C.A.P dosent do that its kinda gay so are the uniforms both the sea cadets and CAPs blues (blues are caps dress up uniforms ) there all gayish but what do they where normaly Cap weres camo or BDUs normaly but anyone know why they do that with theyr arms ???
how interesting, odst001 is in the United States Sea Cadets, here in the Us we dont goose walk, or whatever, this is by no means meant to offend anyone. I think it looks a bit more....crisp if it is done the US way 3 in forward 6 in back, but yeah, at least they are in step.
actually your wrong, theyre arms should not swing past their chest, therefore those cadets are doing it wrong. i should rant about it though considering they arent in the navy ;)
Throughout the Commonwealth of Nations it is standard practice to extend the arms so that they are parallel with the ground. Forgive me if this is not your standard procedure.
well it should be the same, because the canada is a commonwealth country. i was just saying that these cadets are swinging their arms above their chest until it goes up tot heir face which is fucked up. well heir only cadets so i shouldn't be so hard on them
lol ya, i agree theyre at least in step. when i was in the cadets here in canada nobody was instep. i quit one month after being in the cadets because nobody was serious about it.
i know on of the girls, emma gray, front left marker, just cant remember the unit, begins with an A, town that is meant to be the home of the british army also smooth marching, knott 1993 i wonder, are you a drill instructor? or good at marching? thought not
it left left left right left not left right left. and the uniform has changed now.

Just wondering please don't flame me, but why do they need to wave their arms so... exaggeratedly (I KNOW ITS NOT A WORD)?

On second thoughts, you are right, there are some there going a bit too high. They should be parallel with the ground. Not too bad for Cadets though.
