All i can say is that, lam ching ying is the best sifu for any ghost movie. The best ever. There will never be another actor as good as him for this part.
Ok for those who don't understand I'll give u guys a short summary, I'm not going to do a word to word translation just a summary. At the beginning they were talking about all the vampire movies and why Lam think they so popular, which he was saying because chinese people are very superstitious even more so then westerners so they like to see those type of movies. The most interesting was when the interviewer ask about working with Bruce Lee in the big Boss.
She ask Lam if anything interesting happen during the filming of the Big Boss and Lam recall a story when a thai stuntman who was a kick boxer broke the arm of a HK stuntman because he will not pull back his kicks. So Bruce Lee who was friends with the HK stunt crew went to the thai boxer and said if u want to fight someone fight me, but the thai boxer backed off. So she asked if he ever seen anyone challenge Bruce Lee.
Lam Said that many of the extras on film set were actually students from kung fu schools or triads members who deliberately go on set to see Bruce Lee and one of them talk too much and was beaten up by Bruce Lee. Then she ask him that after the success of Prodigal Son was there any pressure for everyone involved to do better or maintain their popular status? Lam reply that everyone just do their best in every film and don't think about popularity so there are no pressure.
Thank you for taking the time, but if you click on the video info on the right side, and choose "more" you can see that I uploaded the COMPLETE interview, question by question. Probably it slipped your attention.
RIP uncle Lam~ haiz~ we are still watching your mr vampire series till this day~ thank you for introducing us the taoist way of fighting chinese vampires~ :D
Thanks for all the videos. I first saw Lam Ching Ying in The Prodical Son and I was amazed by his wing chun. It is a pity he didn't live to play in the Wing Chun series (2007) and Real Kung Fu. What a shame...
yea he died of a heart attack. I guess all that stuff is really scary even for the actors. Great actor. I like all the magic voodoo stuff he does. And i like how he used to play as jackie chan and sammo hungs stuntman
this is fantastic ive always wanted to hear lam talk. it would be great to know what he is talking about, but im a real big fan of lam. excellent actor and screen fighter.
I'm happy you published this interview with Lam so this way his fans can have the pleasure of hearing his real voice. Really is a treat for us all and I was so touched about Bey's generousity. :-)
Tommy, all because he was ALWAYS dubbed by two dubbing actors. You could never ever hear his real voice on screen. Only in the Vampire Expert outtakes and here. Funny, eh? ;)
Yeah Vampire Expert was an excellent Show, probally the only one that I like from ATV lol... It was really nice to see him doing those show... I liek the second one the best. Too bad he never got the chance to do the third one.
Yes, you are right. The second series was far too much better than the first one. And it is really so sad that he could not do the next one. Poor man, he signed for the third one but had no time to start filming. :(
another thing i like about him in films is he seems like a protective sifu to his students, although he portrays a ruthless master (sometimes)he still care for his students. hahaha
wow..this is my first time to listen to his real voice. wow..his voice doesn't really math his professional look. oh..he is so soft-spoken and seems like a warm person too. hahaha
Yes, so strange it was to me too, but I got used to it and if you watch the outtakes and hear his voice there too, the whole image of Lam changes in your head, but for the better I think. He was a kind, gentle persona, remember him loving flowers, gardening and being a wonderful Dad to two little ones.
YES! The whole series can be bought only on vcds which are not really perfect quality ones BUT there IS a Japanese edition on DVDs. NOT the whole series but some stories and the quality is great plus it has all the outtakes and bloopers collected on a bonus track. ;)
how bad the vcds quality. is it watachable? hm..i hope i can watch the whole series..otherwise it will a bit awkward.hahaha. i have watched some of the series which they have cut them into dvds. and i still thing the story line is a bit odd but overall, the whole movie do have a flow.
Of course it is watchable, but compared to the DVD it is poor. What you can see here is the DVD quality. Yes! They rearranged the storyline for the DVDs and that makes the plot weird! They did the same with both the series, Vampire Expert I and II. Get the vcds, you will enjoy it, my friend.
Oh, yes, you are so right. Sadly it was not taped BUT photos were taken. A year ago Mr Bey promised kindly to give me a few but somehow he keeps forgetting but I never give up :))
I'm guessing you and Bey are good friends then. When you two meet next time, call him to remember the pictures. Heck with email now a day, just tell him to email it to you. Lam's fans are waiting... :)
Well, we are not "real" friends but he appreciated the Lam site and we exchanged a few e-mails before he handled the tape over to me. He is kind and generous but has so much to do. But I promise to do my best to get those pictures from him. I will write again, well I do it over and over! :)) But he keeps forgetting. I cannot wait myself to see. You are right! Lam Sifu friends are eager to see those precious pics. ;)
I am so sorry for answering so late. Oddly your comment was marked as spam. Cool? You mean this interview? Or the movie? The movie is just something to watch while listening to the interview. The interview IS cool, a real rarity. Lam never gave interviews, at least nothing we know about. This is the only one and it was not released due his sad and sudden death. But for his 10th Anniversary the gentleman who made it, kindly gave the tape to me. I was deeply honored and moved.
Wow! Thank you so much. I was literally looking everywhere for whether or not Lam sifu ever done an interview. He sounds very soft spoken, nothing like I thought he'd sound. I miss him greatly, especially since I just got "Crazy Safari".
They say he never or very very rarely gave interview. This is the only one I know and could possibly get. He never talked about his private life that I know, but he was very friendly and outspoken.
i don't understand
