idk why people always try to give these stars titles like Elvis, Bo, and Chuck they were all great in their own right. I never compare them because i enjoy all there music.
It makes me realize that I have so much more to learn around the guitar. Bo's tone alone crushes most I've heard. And this charted in the 60's. Amazing! He's the real deal.
17 years old now, heard it when i was like, 4 at a local car cruise, and i can guarantee you, i am the only one in my school with this song on their ipod. i even have the Microwave Dave version too!
holy shit!! i thought that finnish band Hurriganes made this song in the 70s but shit Bo Diddley was first but the Hurriganes version was a modified cover :D
@TheArachnoid That is the truth there is so much stuff available that i have never hear or seen EVER. And i am no youngster (50), So much stuff i spend hours all the time searching and downloading both video and audio.
@kikster93 Originally found it on photobucket. A few people had uploaded it. There was a fast version and one was much slower. Don't know if it's still there.
this is pretty cool but i think aerosmith did a little better at it.... but thats probably only bcuz i love Steven Tylers voice and Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton on background vocals lol
@smokiebird06 I read that comment often ,I hate todays "flap"just as much as the next man ,still..there are some good things to be found in the mess, like early Cypress Hill,Grandmaster Flash,Stereo MC's.I'm open to every kind of music, as long as it's convincing, and done with soul.
@smokiebird06 don't knock all rap. I can list tons of rap that carries a deep blues soul sound like this with meaningful lyrics. It's unfortunate but all the crappy rap has permeated the mainstream industry leaving good stuff to be discovered at another time.
@EuropeanAnimation well for starters Tupac is great. Check out, "Changes", "Dear Mamma" and "Do for Love".
If you want more bluesy to the rap the you gotta go Souther Rap but that tends to be pretty hardcore. For that I reccommend Geto Boys, "The World is a Ghetto" or "Blind Leading The Blind"
there is a violent element to their songs, but that comes with the territory. It would be like asking a blues artist not to sing about lost love or being broke.
Never heard this one either, Reggie but I always liked Bo Diddley and it's a song you have to move to. I like the colorful effect you added at 1:40 and the cool effects toward the end.
The Grandmaster at his best here; my favorite Diddley tune. Even the b-side, "My Story", is great - tells of Bo's tongue-in-cheek rise to fame. He could do so much with that guitar. "Road Runner" was redone later in the mid-60's by the Gants. RIP Bo.

Did Bo Diddley play his ACME guitar on this song?

Some of his 50´s chop-rhythm guitar patterns make him an early avatar of funk.
