I love how they Van Halenized every cover they ever performed. According to The Van Halen Saga book by Ian Christe, all of the 50s and 60s rock they either performed live or recorded on an album (this includes Oh Pretty Woman and Dancing in the Streets) were because of David Lee Roth. His love for that period of music which influenced him is why we even have those great Van Halenized covers. Since he left, they didn't do them again. Too bad - they did such an amazing job on them!
Ed's solo here let's us see within his genius for improvising and doing the most unusual, unexpected and exciting stuff. I've read Ed really hates releasing half-cooked stuff, but for me that's the most exciting and fun!

This is awesome, I just wish Ed would do more of a bluesy guitar solo then his usual tapping stuff.

One of Roths better live vocal performances for sure...
He always sounded better on the slower stuff when he wasn't running around and trying to sing at the same time...
Makes sense:)
