Those who play Minecraft the most understand that graphics and creature AI are largely peripheral to the real point of the gameplay, which is creativity. The rest is flavor. This reviewer wants Minecraft to deliver the experience to him rather than use his own imagination to create one. That's fine, different strokes etc, but people love this game for a reason.
If that was the focus why did they not make the building aspect larger (adding tons more building materials, updated old ones, etc)? I think you are ignoring what the developers have officially wanted out of Minecraft near the end of its production, and that was it to become an adventure game, straying away from anything building related.

I don't see why they call themselves "The Best Gamers" if they don't understand the main concept of the game that is unique to all of the other gamers that play the game. The main concept is to immerse yourself into the gameplay and try to research new ways of gaining resources, or being creative and trying to build monuments or defense systems in your unique world of minecraft.
In Minecraft there is a mod for almost anything. So when Notch actually adds something
interesting to the game it is "stealing" . to me not so much. Also with the A.I.. There is a mod for Villagers you can trade with and help. Because of people like you who think using the ideas of fans to make the game they love better Notch has cut down on many things.

These guys hate Modern Warfare, which is why they parody it a lot, actually, I think they hate 90% of most modern games, Minecraft, being a piece of shit on release, is no exception, and legitimate flaws like the poison food thing and the infinite diamond blocks aren't just jokes, these are game breaking glitches and lazy oversights. Minecraft COULD have been a fun game, but instead of getting off his fat ass, Notch took vacations and half-assed everything.

While I'll have to disagree on a few points in this review, such as the stolen mods part, I will agree that Minecraft, as a fully released game that costs 20 Euros, is pretty bad.
And what the hell is with the ridiculously high Metascore upon it's release, as well? Considering the game has pretty much been 'out' for quite some time before the actual release...

I see a lot of problems with this review
1. Minecraft is NOT by any means a finished game it was only deemed reviewable
2. You covered very few good parts of minecraft and any good parts covered contained little information
3. Bad AI. Really i mean you try to code a 3-d game in java and have good AI
4. The graphics are perfect for minecraft's style and to make it playable on most computers
If you don't like the current graphics just download a texturepack

3. There is no AI, it is pathetic, java games like 3079 have AI, and that is made by 1 person, a multi-million dollar game should have AI.

This comments section is just plain sad. The guy carefully points out the flaws of the game and explains them in great detail, he even goes over the things about the game that he likes, and yet here's the Notch Defense Force to stifle criticism and tell him he doesn't know what he's talking about. You can't tell me the A.I. isn't terrible, you can't tell me that NPC villages aren't pointless and shitty, you can't tell me that the dragon in The End is not a retarded boss.

This as a much better review than the last one. Much less biased. But I think you should really research a bit more before you review. This is a sandbox game not a combat game. Minecon was established before the final release. And it's not the right game for you. But still you did make some excellent points.

Minecraft actually was worth it for a sandbox game to play with friends back when it was $13. With the updates going, the game was going towards a positive direction of basically being a Build Your Own RPG maker. However, he didn't. And instead worked on a card game. That looks boring. This game might be alright if it was 2004 or something, but when Cave Story is better than this piece, you know something's amiss. If you increased minecrafts graphics at all it wouldn't run on anything. It was made by only a few people. You skip over the positives. It may be the full release but it's not the final release. Notch had to "copy" mods because they beet him too adding the ideas. He was busy, and with a small crew it is impossible to fix what you complained about. This should not have been called the final release, you sir are a graphics whore who nothing about what MINECRAFT was meant to be.

The least notch can do is to use that some-million dollars to hire an artist to spiff up the graphics. It's the full release, and that means that it should be fully playeable, with no to nearly no bugs it in. Everything should have polish. I also like how everyone frets over the fact he criticized the graphics. Is that the only part you listened to?

I don't see why they call themselves "The Best Gamers" if they don't understand the main concept of the game that is unique to all of the other gamers that play the game. The main concept is to immerse yourself into the gameplay and try to research new ways of gaining resources, or being creative and trying to build monuments or defense systems in your unique world of minecraft.

In Minecraft there is a mod for almost anything. So when Notch actually adds something
interesting to the game it is "stealing" . to me not so much. Also with the A.I.. There is a mod for Villagers you can trade with and help. Because of people like you who think using the ideas of fans to make the game they love better Notch has cut down on many things.
