  • can i ask, what is the switch you click on? also, how did you achieve the "drone" in the background when you recorded it some time ago? was it echo'd at all or with any specific doubling/repeating techniques? very amazing playing and ultra zen to listen to over and over a million times :)

  • @incubrian its a Jazz/rock switch, just changes the EQ a little. The rock has a little more output and bite while the jazz is more laid back and warm

  • It is a great tone, but the recording technique and high quality mics probably represents the difference compared to most other videos where it's just the camera mic.

  • Do you find the angle at which you have that mannequin's head mic-ed up to make a difference in the sound of your doo-rag?

  • Beautiful tone! Nice chops!

  • Amazing! Great tone comes from your fingers! An amazing amp like a dumble makes you just want to keep playing and playing ... I just can't stop listening to this vid. I don't even watch anymore. That amp is so responsive to your picking dynamics and volume knob changes it s an amazing instrument! Thank you for sharing iot

  • Great Amp

  • Nice vid, great playing and very good tone!

  • great playing!! somebody knows what scale is on 2 40 - 2 44

  • Can you share the drone backing track? Would love to play to it! :)

  • oh yeah ! I like it , great playing and tone.

  • Very nice done. Beautiful.

  • This is probably the best video on YouTube... it's just so.... NICE!

  • meh, overpriced amp. Nice sounding, but there are many better sounding amps today imho

  • Lovely video...nicely put together....like the tone of this....

  • I think it's just a collectors item, I mean I like other amp tones best , not saying is bad but that price hahah.. the playing however , definably worth the price :D

  • His eyebrows @ 0:53! LOL.

  • Here's a page on Peter Lerche featuring FOUR streams of tracks off his very hard to find 2002 1st album Peshwar Diary: on the Roukangas guitar site /p=1313 And for those who think Peter is just some random dude messing around with a Dumble, that is HIS Dumble and he is "one of the best known guitarists in Finland." You can read more of his fascinating bio at the link provided above.

  • @sbove Why should any album published in 2002 be "hard to find". What's up with that?

  • @beeroosterm don't know...but there was only one on Amazon when I checked...used...i bought it...and it wouldn't even play in my apple pro...only a blue ray deck would play it.

Dear Peter, please post some links to your Peshwar Diary tracks (if you can legally) for all the fans here!! ;-)

  • The amp is truly awesome.... but the player is exquisite, soulful and progressive... Thanks for this post Peter!

  • great vid, great tone. i really like the sound of the ceriatone ods better than this. not worth the money.

  • seriously watched this demo like forty times since I first saw it a day or two ago. Your playing style and tone are incredible man.

  • Drool

  • If newbie guitar players want to know the difference between solid state and tube amps, point them to this video and cue 'em at 1:48...

    ...and let the lesson begin.

  • Wow, some tones there. Love the Indian influence. Great playing.

  • Just a quick question - what is the band you have around your guitar for - I checked out the Flaxwood website and there is no sign of this feature on the guitars there.

  • @slugpumper1 It is probably a guitar support (like the "NeckUp" and similar products), maybe home made. Otherwise he wouldn't be able to hold the guitar like this - without a strap.

  • Tone to die for - oh man - I really didn't need to hear this, it's going to make my aquired stompbox personality disorder even harder to deal with - I have a Wampler Ecstay Overdrive which although it sounds great is supposed to be a Dumble in a box - well - it's not - it dosen't sound anything like this - thanks for posting man - great playing, and good luck with your wall papering.

  • Great tones but why did he set up and record in the sauna?

  • Gary rossington

  • Great expression and dynamics. I wish I could find more of your music.

  • Omg that tone!!! Great stuff!

  • Man I'd kill for an hour on that rig.

  • So many tone deaf rich pricks on utube playing the best gear in the world BADLY - nice to see someone who can do the gear justice. Put a little cd together and Itune it - lots of little fishees would bite...it'd be EZ to get laid to this...I'd buy it just for that reason alone.

  • Hi nice How do you compared that ampliiers with the fuchs amplifiers

  • Absolutely inspirational playing, my friend! I have a feeling you would make just about any decent tube amp sound like a million bucks! Thank you so much for sharing your talents and gear for us to appreciate and enjoy.

  • Peter, I'm happy for you...having a million dollar amp and a black head to play to...But...(Hey, just kidding) The real jewel in this video is your playing.

Wow !!! Seems to be the only appropriate thing to say. Now if you live in a log cabin up on the mountain somewhere...and you do not come to town very often, let me school you on something you may not be fully aware of my friend. You have a very powerful gift of expression. I can see you writing and recording movie soundtracks, or...

  • Lovely, of course you could save the money and play the same notes and chords through a Laney Lionheart L20H and not be disappointed!!! But fair do's I wouldnt turn one down!

  • Yeah, O.k. But can you make it sound like Guitar Rig?? Just kidding!!

Excellent playing, tone, and most of all.......Innovative!! Thanks for sharing the sound with us! And thanks again for taking the time to mic it up right!!

  • this is average... have you guys ever heard the tone from a marshall MG30??? much warmer and more expressive IMO

  • Straight from the heart man.......thank you.

  • This clip really give me goosebumps everytime.

    Respect sir, respect !

This amp is a monster for sure but your musicality is tremendous.

    Amazing.

  • Man this is absolutely amazing. Thank you for actually making a good video of a dumble amp.

  • i watch this vid about 12 times per day hahaha- anywhere i can buy ur music?

  • Terrific playing.

  • Gorgeous tone, just beautiful.

  • thats some amazing playing, an amazing fusion jazz rock type, hints of eric johnson, and some indian sounding stuff too, any advice on learning this style? and the tone is like butter

  • Excellent, simple, straightforward demo of one of THE best-sounding amps I'VE ever heard, for certain. (And i'm sure it can do alot more than this simple demo reveals.) Thanks for some nice, tasteful fret-strutting. Best Rgds.

  • That's a really nice demo. Having a pedal tone to play against was a great idea. It doesnt sound like "music store chops".

  • Great video

  • This is one of the best sounding PRS demo's I've ever heard. This amp really works with it.

  • @tatsandteles its a flaxwood not prs

  • Why??? Why must you bend on the wrong note every time???

  • tag knows tone

  • @jonw82 My god, I used to have a student that said this to me all the time! Hahahahahaha!

  • I love how he shows a close up of the knobs. You know... just in case I wanted to check those out on my Dumble...

  • 12 people out there have Dumble-envy!

  • Hi Peter, amazing demo. What year is your dumble? model number just OSD-100?

  • Jesus man! You can play your ass off. Very creative chops, and some nice Jeff Beck influence there, I believe. Now remove the bandana and let us see the beauty of your baldness.

  • Another quick question: is the recording being created with the binaural head/twin condensers in the foreground? Sounds killer.

  • @sbove

  • What did the "pedal clicks" right before the distortion kicked in activate? Was it a footswitch for the overdrive section of the preamp in the head? Or was it a vintage Big Muff (sounds like a rams head). Also it sounded like you stomped in a bit of reverb/delay at around 1:50, and then even more distortion at 2:13. Asking b/c without seeing your feet, no way to know if this all the amp or the addition of unseen effects pedals. Thanks for posting & GREAT playing!

  • Peter, really nice array of tones. Love the amp, but I'd like to know your opinion of the Flaxwood.....primarily the feel. I dig the drone as well. How 'bout a phrygian dominant lick...LOL. Great playing!

  • the overdrive is very toneful, but I didn't really hear anything very special in the clean settings.

  • Thanks for reminding us why the Dumbles (in the right hands) demand such respect. Amazing demo, and as was said that amp got the right home!

  • Hi guys who is that guy ....? he is realy good

  • Peter, As far as I'm concerned, this demo is as good as it gets. Great taste and superb gear in excellent hands. -- Thanks very much!

  • Wow, lovely tone! I like the lick you played at @2:02, sounds like cliffs of dover & neil zaza mixed :)

  • WoW , great amp and great playing :o)

  • thing sounds nasty good

  • Mahtavaa Peter. :-) t. Raniin

  • Nice demo man.

  • that drone makes the vid sound god-like hahaha

  • Awesome, awesome playing. This has been my go-to video for months now. Sweet tone, sweeter licks... Thanks for the upload.

  • Great player.

  • why have those settings in a "look at this" video defeats the purpose i.e.low end

  • Chad Smith/Will Ferrell in disguise. Had a bit too much crystal lettuce in your toan salad though.

  • Hi Peter, You have done an excellent job in showing the dynamics & flexability of the Dumble. Can you tell me what mic pre was used?

  • Sounds nearly as good as my Guitar Rig patch

  • @BoogieEngineer And feels about 10,000 times better.

  • Very inspiring. Thanks Peter.

  • that amp sounds awesome

  • The things I would give for a Dumble. Oh well, we can't all be filthy stinking rich.

  • @pfloydguy Just start sending twinkies and sees candies... Thats how you get a Dumble! Maybe throw in some Jr. Bacon cheeseburgers!

  • @jimboob400 Hi. The book/DVD/download will be available from my site. The finishing touches - graphics, sitemap etc - are in the works. Thanks for your interest, Peter

  • Those flaxwood guitars are very intriguing. Being a composite material I was a bit sceptical - but I have to admit, everything I have heard has been nothing but stellar.

  • Buy £30,000 amp.

Play with Master Volume on 1 through a £150 cab mic'd with £150 Oktavas...

    Makes great sense...

  • @NeatStar just because someone spends a lot of money on an amp doesn't automatically make their neighbours more forgiving

  • how much do these run?

  • Wow.

    8-O

  • Some serious playing u got there.

    Nice raga-ish sounds.

Stick with that. Some eric johnson sounds also.

    Nice sounds tho..

  • how do you order one of his amps

  • @Guitar1hero23 You get a Fuchs, a Ceriatone or a Brown Note and wish you were well known enough for Dumble to deign to talk to you (there are other amps too, those are the biggies that I know of for Dumble clones). Or you get 20 to 30k together and buy one of his amps used.

On the cheap, there's the Hermida Zen Drive and other "Dumble-esque" pedals, some Fender mods on the web (Dumbles are in a lot of ways just highly modded Fenders) or some folks are happy enough with their Axe-FX models.

  • @zzmook thanks alot. i was just curious on how to order, i do not have 20k haha. tis the season

  • I love it when demos are a guitar lesson at the same time..

  • Lovely tone, excellent playing!

    MORE VIDEOS PLEASE!!

  • Some cool licks in there. Nice..

  • How much was this??

  • I can't stop watching this video. Those licks are awesome! What's the Indian sounding scale notes at the beginning of the video? Such a different inspiring sound.

  • @sharptan major seventh bend about half a semitone sharp

  • @PutItAway101 Thank you

  • Good amp, too bad Dumble, as a person, is a big fat ass hole. Anyway, are those amps worth the 30 000$ or so people are asking for nowadays ?

  • i go back to this vid over and over again. perfect playing and heavenly tone.

  • What just happened? I go from crap video to crap video to... this! The most amazing sound I didn't imagine could happen on YouTube. WOW! This is my new favorite! Dude! You seriously know how to play!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Wow!! What a cool demo and all without saying one word, Your tone is killer and your playing was really smoothe, I feel relaxed after hearing this!

  • I have been listening to this over and over. You capture the Dumble's characteristics so vividly. Great soulful playing, Peter.

  • The amp is nothing without the player, and he is among Finland's finests.

  • beautiful playing peter! I would love to hear how you acquired that sweeeeet dumble.........

  • Great stuff!

  • fake

  • dumblez sound like fenderz!!

    OY VEY!!

  • Lose the doo-rag old man

  • I'm addicted to this video... I watch it maybe 5-6 times a day.... Don't know what to do!!!

  • Peter,

Of the Eminence line (if you have experience with other models) do you prefer the Texas Heat the most with the Dumble? I have heard well of the Tonspotter in this application as well. This is still my favorite clip ever.

  • Man you're a genius! Greetings from italy!

  • Really nice Peter.

I possibly like the Flaxwood even more hat the Dumble!

(Am I allowed to say that!)

    Thank you.

  • ........Does the Dumble really matter? Is it so good or different from another quality amp that it becomes worth its absurdly high price? My guess is that perhaps it was good enough many years ago to distinguish itself, but there are so many good amps out there today that the Dumble name is now more for collectors who wish to make money rather than it being better than everything else out there...

  • 1:49 thats how overdrive should sound.

  • Nice, let me know when the DVD is out. I'm going to see Ravi Shankar this month.

  • Those Flaxwoods are great guitars. Nice tone, touch. Ever tried a Bruno?

  • Nice playing!

    Of course Great Tone!

  • Peter,

Is the amp used in the demo considered HRM or non-HRM. Skyline tonestack or non?

  • Nice - that background drone lends a nice mood.

  • Hieno homma! Onko sulla joku keinopääviritys tuossa etualalla? t. SL

  • what speaker do you used in this video thanks

  • @MrRufo30471 Hi. It's an Eminence Texas Heat 12" speaker in a semi-open cabinet .Peter

  • I love the setting with the grey wood behind you and all..makes me want to play...hah gotta go play now! You are great!

  • not a big fan of dumble clean tone but that overdrive is awesome

  • probably one of the most pleasant guitar/amp demos I've heard in a long time. You, sire, are definitely deserving of a Dumble ODS.

  • more.. more..

  • Peter,

Thanks for the great music. I am hoping you might provide us with some more demo's. Judging from your page views, sounds like I am not alone in this :).

    Cheers,

    jim

  • This is easily one of the very best videos I've seen on youtube.

    Thanks

  • are you stepping on a pedal or footswitching to the drive channel

  • @strwy2hvn94 Hi. No pedal. Footswitch for od-channel+pab (preamp boost). So it's the amp all the way. Thanks for your interest, Peter

  • Still one of the best Dumble ODS demos ever ... wish you'd do a whole DVD!

  • Wow, love your phrasing and vibes you put out from that. Any tips on where I can study some of the same things you did? haha....no but seriously

  • @dedrye Hi. All of these - and more - will be covered in my forthcoming book/DVD/download "The India Lesson: Applying Indian classical rhythm concepts to Your music" ". This clip is an extra from that session. Should be out for the autumn. Tanks for your interest, Peter

  • @peterguitlerche That's great man, I'm sending you a private message w/ my email and such so I can get ahold of that...Please let me know when you release it, thanks!

  • @peterguitlerche Hello Peter, I am from India and play Indian Classical Music on guitar too.

I simply love your playing style and I think the fact that you are playing on a Dumble makes it more interesting.

I am looking forward to your DVD~

    Musically

    VaMi :)

  • @peterguitlerche

    Any update on the book/DVD?

  • @peterguitlerche Very nice! So is this book/dvd of yours out as yet? Indian rhythms are right up my alley.

  • Wow man I really love your playing!!!! And the tones you were getting are tremendous!!!

  • great playing, i like indian type scales too, its all good. Great amp, i have a mark five mesa boogie, does it all aswell, sweet tones. keep rockin. :-)

  • Whoa...nice playing.

  • What a beautiful overdriven sound :)

  • youre very good. your guitar is so good it depresses me. and the amp sounds good but its not my style. great video though. everything sounds spot on

  • what kind of reverb is that!?

  • beautiful man, just beautiful

    loved the backing track...

    lovely guitar too, flexwood

how does that gtr stack up to normal traditional gtrs? how does it compare in sound and in playing to regular guitars?

  • One of the most video/(but audio) on you Tube!!! Great!

  • "Maybe it's my studies of Indian (Carnatic) classical methods rearing its head."

    Ya think!

  • The sound isn't as great as expected. Not sure about the Holy Grail crap. Nice playing though.

  • man, I can just hear the eric johnson tone in there. Awesome playing, amazing tone, great video!

  • dude who are you? if you have one of these you must be some type of bigshot. also you kinda look like a stoner with that hat, but its really cool. are you a stoner bigshot guitarist?

  • @kweerb8

  • @kweerb8

  • Very nice! What mic and what pedals?

Need to know.. thank you ;)

  • @maskone Ok I'm an idiot. [Just looked to desc] :)

  • nice mics too!

  • Your weird slide/hammer technique is awesome! Very cool style

  • absolutely unbelievable. if i had 10-20 grand id get me a dumble :D

  • Comment removed

  • BRAVO... sounded killer!!!

  • You´re a great guitarplayer...u should upload more stuff.. !!!

  • fantastic tone and even better playing! this video is addictive

  • I'm sorry Peter, your $25,000 Dumble sounds excellent, but I will stick to my Boogie Mark III. It is just as tonally expressive and it is $24,000 cheaper. Your playing however is quite nice. Kudos.

  • Brilliant. Speechless.

  • 1:20, Nothing beats a good ol' tube overdrive.

  • Just marvelous playing, Peter. I've noticed, however, that most people are concerned with the amplifier as opposed to the speaker cabinet when considering tone. I see that several have asked about your speaker cab as if the factory-builts from Marshall are something special. They suck. I built a detuned (closed back with two speaker holes but only one speaker) cabinet from 400 year old heart pine, thin birch baffle board, 36x24 inches, 16 inches deep. It kills. Read up on custom detuned cabs...
