I just came across this video looking for reviews for the SG Classic abd I got way more than I bargained for. I'm not sure what is more amazing, the sound of the guitar or your playing. You truly have a gift and obviously didnt let it get away from you. I hope you get payed for your playing because a lot of people out there need to hear you on c.d. I cant remember the last time I wanted to learn a song so bad, where did you get the background music? And all this soung was from a bad monkey? WOW!
Lockpicker2k. Not only does Epiphone craft better way under priced Guitars than Gibson Epiphone is much bigger than there parent company Gibson Corp. Epiphone would survive and thrive with out Gibson. Could Gibson do the same? not a chance in hell buddy.
Great job. But the Epiphone 50th anniversary 1961 sg is much better than the gibson model hands down. Today's Epiphone guitars are some of the very best crafted guitars on the planet. Epiphone = top quality and way under priced. Gibson = WAY OVER PRICED
For someone to dislike this is funny.....It would be like a jazz musician ignoring a chord melody by Joe Pass.....This is pure unadulterated music......The tone and skill involved in it's production is probably out of the reach or comprehension of those who skoff.......Thank you for for the auditory orgasm! Please do more!
hello I have one of these SG's I love it. I have two LP Standards with humbuckers, and they do roar, but something ultra cool about the P90s on this SG cranked in to my Marshall. Nice go of SGTB by the way! I've ceen covering this one for many years. People seem to love the tune.
I say this with as much respect as possible. I've been on Carnegie Hall stage, played jazz for 3 years, record and play for 8 years, but I'm amazed. I haven't heard this song, surprisingly as I love blues, but it sounds like it's your own. Congrats man, keep on keepin on.
@greenfish88 Ummm still got the blues is the song......it's a song by Gary Moore and is who mostly plays jazz like this song, which happens to be a complete eargasm
Nicely done! Iv been looking into buying a guitar with p90's for a while and the only other guitar that comes close to this is the PRS soapbar. but those are made in Korea and id rather get a gold ol' American made Gibson. This video may have convinced me
hmm you see i already have a les paul and i love it, but people say your either in the Gibson camp or Fender camp. But as you said, strats are more versatile...
Strats really aren't as versatile, I took months finding my next guitar. Looked through American Strats, PRSs, Les Paul standards, Gretschs, SG Standards, then I played this SG Classic with the P90s. Any tone you want, this thing can more than handle it. Best electric under 1500, hands down
I want to know if this Gibson has humbucker routes underneath the pick guard. There is a Brand new one hanging at the Guitar Center over here where I am for $899.00(with out case) I just want to wire in a nice set of WCR Humbuckers I have . I'm just skeptical about whether, or not the routes underneath are the same as any SG with HUMS.. Anyone out there know?BTW the SG Classic I played today just like this one here had a Killer Large Neck, and with the smooth binding really felt inviting. Nice
It is not routed for humbuckers underneath, you'd have to get some work done. Why not buy a SG Special or Standard if you're looking for a SG with humbuckers?
because the SG Std., and the SG Specials have a different feel altogether. I also had 2 ANGUS Youngs in the last 5 years, and that SG felt completely different. The First thing for me is the Binding application. The Angus Young had a very smooth feel to it. Transitioning from fret to fret was effortless. The SG Stds. that I have had all had thinner neck carves too. The SG Classic that I played last night a Guitar Center had a BIG Fat Neck, an ULTRA smooth Ebony Boar, and Killer binding too.
I'm using a B52 AT112 in this video; a lot of the smoothness came from boosting it with a Bad Monkey. One of the best sounding amps I've had the pleasure of playing.
Gotta love those P90's :) I want to get this guitar so badly... I just found this the other day.... and It sounds amazing :D Sorta a "secret" guitar xD I never heard about the SG classic till the other day..... Loved your playing... its amazing :D
When it comes to the blues nothing beats a strat????!!!! You are a goose. The blues has little to do with the guitar. I've got em all, and set up the right way they all sound good depending on the song.
lovely tone, nice playing and all those strat freaks that think nothing bluesy ever comes out of anything but a strat are brainwashed,,,,,some strats sound like shit.
1990daved thats horseshit , the fx are the only thing i find souless in the vid , gotta tell that to angus , iommi , townsend , the all got the blues on that badboy even harrison loved the sg
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Nice playing, wrong guitar. I reckon an SG just doesnt suit blues, not the right tone, enough sustain or general sound. cant beat a les paul or strat in any way
Yes... BB, Albert, and Freddie King sound great on their strats. So does Albert Collins... Muddy Waters would never be caught without a strat... or John Lee Hooker...
i'm trying to decide between an sg classic with p-90 pup's or a les paul studio raw series(it's a like a reissue from the 2000-2001 raw powers , i don't know well but i think it is) , which one woould you buy?????????
OK, your video just cost me. I went down and bought a Gibson SG Classic. and I'm a Fender Strat guy. hmmm,,, I don't have a bad monkey pedal. I have an OCD or a TS808, Marshall modern/vintage. By the way what guage strings are you using? Thanks.
It is amazing how under rated the Bad Monkey is. It is probably the best sounding Overdrive pedal around, that can compare to the more expensive Ibanez TS9 or TS808. The badmonkey sounds much more warmer and creamier.
I have both Ibanez TS9 and the TS808 from the 80s and I choose the Bad Monkey over both for a nice overdrive tone.
