  • everything went exactly as he said it would except the file doesnt play and error on set as ringtone....nice try i guess

  • This worked perfect for me. I have used it for any music ring tone I want. I can edit the song anyway I want to use any portion of it. If it's not working for you, you should try it again. Follow the directions exactly. I have created maybe 20 ringtones for myself and others.

  • anywaysssss, I've been using ur method of making my own ringtones for a very long time! I just kept this web address and when things got confusing i came back to this and it has always worked easily . thank you thank you thank you

  • @TheNurseKC

and still, this method is working 8/23/2011

  • or you can buy a sd card

  • Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡¡¡¡¡!¡

  • Thanks, worked great, excellent sound quality....just as you said

  • Thanks, worked great, excellent sound quality....just as you said

  • it works when i send as a .mp3 file and sounds like shit, but when i change it to .mid it doesnt work at all

  • @ubnowned What phone do you have?

  • @MY50GT change it to .midi not .mid

  • @ubnowned I'm having the same exact problem..

  • you are awesome!!! Thank you!!!!!!

  • What Program Do You Use To Edit The Mp3?

  • @firefoxy2010 wavepad

  • @MY50GT Thank-You For Your Help And For Uploading This Video! "*****" 5 Stars! Please Continue To Make Great Videos!

  • does it have to be less than 120kbps?

  • @rain10 No, but why waste the memory on a mono-speaker?

And it should be 96 kbps. That will put out the best quality on your phone's speaker without being excessive.

  • @rain10 thanx man for the tips.. but i figured somethin out without sending it to vzwpix.com. i use the program audacity and i do my own sequence like on which part of the song that i wanna use. and its MP3 so its sounds better but u can only send a limit of 313-315KB. i just discovered it myself lately that u can put the save file as mp3 to your sd card then send it to yourself and it shud be free if u have unlimited text plan. thanx though,.

  • do u have to have a VZW Pix App to get this??

  • @rain10 No. You just need a texting plan.

  • @rain10 I am like you I just use my cell phones 9 digit nuber@vzwpix(dot) com. I save my ring tones on my desktop as a mp3 then email it to my phone 9 digit number@vzwpix(dot) com. I get my free ring tones at My TinyPhone(dot)com. Find your ring tone you want and SAVE IT TO YOUR COMPUTERS DESK TOP. Then just email it as an attachment in your email to your phone. Bingo free ring tones. Your can also forward your ring tones to some one else and vice versa if you save the original message.

  • Thank you so much! I used to use Windows movie maker but all of a sudden it stopped working !! This was a great help, and now I have an awesome ringtone! :)

  • thats for beginners.. i use myxer.com..... its the best...

  • @benjamen19 How do you figure this is for beginners?

This procedure is 1) free, and 2) allows you to make your own ringtones.

myxer 1) chargers for some ringtones, the same ringtones you can get anywhere else, and 2) doesn't allow custom ringtones.

  • Your procedure is very good! It worked for me first time!

  • he sounds like Chris Farley

  • thank you, you have no clue how long ive been trying to get free ringtones for my cheap ass an this is actually a very simple way.

  • shut d f up!!

  • it worked!

  • You are a fucking genius. I, and many other didn't know that it would convert it to a QCP when sending. I did this earlier VIA Movie Maker, but when I sent it it sounded like shit. Thanks for everything dude...

  • Thank you thank you. As a musician, its great to finally use one of my own songs as a ringtone. Not to mention, offering my songs as free ringtones is great for marketting!!!! THANK YOU!!!

  • Help...after I send e-mail, message comes up blank. Music does not play and cannot save as ringtone.

  • help...when the ringtone is sent to my phone it's blank. No music plays and cannot save anything for ringtone. Have Samsung Intesity II.

  • help...when the ringtone is sent to my phone it's blank. No music plays and cannot save anything for ringtone. Have Samsung Intesity II.

  • awesome, thanks a lot for this video!!!

  • sweeeet!

  • thank you dude this was really helpful

  • I need help, my phone is not recognizing the MIDI file, but when I send it as an MP3, it works.

  • @gaddeath That works fine! Some newer Verizon phones recognize and will play MP3 ringtones (FINALLY!). You can even transfer them to your phone using the USB cable instead of e-mailing them as a PIX message. This works with the BlackBerry Storm2 9550, among others.

  • @MY50GT When I send it as an MP3, it converts it to QCEP and it sounds like absolute shit. But I'll try using a USB cable to transfer files, do you know where I should put the files?

  • @gaddeath Yeah, anytime you send an MP3 to a phone it always gets converted to QCP. Probably to keep pirating to a minimum. If you use a USB cable, you'll put the files in the ringtones folder on either your phone memory or your card memory. I'll probably post a video soon.

  • @MY50GT Thank you for your quick replies. Here's something really weird however, my sister has the exact same phone and uses the same technique, but instead of wavepad we use audacity. However, she doesn't change the quality or anything, just where the ringtone starts, and the files are crystal clear; the phone doesn't convert it to QCEP and leaves it as an MP3. It's very weird :/

  • @MY50GT at 1:23 bless you XD

  • @MY50GT hey dude when i sent it to my Verison LG enV it sent it as an mp3 file and into my music, is there any way to put my music as a ringtone?

  • Thanks for uploading this. i was dying with the crappy tones the phone came with and wanted new ones so bad. it really made my day, easy and to the point. thanks again! :D

  • Thx bro, great vid. I've been messing with Bitpim and MPT for days trying to get something to work, no dice. How easy is this compared to that!

  • aw ur cool

  • where do I put the vzwpix.com at, please help

  • @jpjuliomex1

    Your phone number @ VZWPIX.com (example, 1231231234@VZWPIX.com)

  • I have a Samsung U470 is that phone too old for this application? I can't get it to work. Thanks

  • My Verizon menu is a bit different. Right soft-key and save (there is no save ringtone selection) - followed by left soft key "set; and THEN left soft key "save as ringtone"

  • so would i need internet service or text messaging active on my phone in order for this to work? i'm only able to make calls on mine.

  • @vlad48329reborn Yes, you need text messaging unless you want to pay $0.10 or whatever the hell Verizon charges these days for text messages for every ringtone. But that is still cheaper than $2.99. Or you could get a cheap texting plan, get every song you want, then cancel it a week later.

  • that is SOOOO AWESOME!!! thanks for sharing.

  • Thank you so much, cutie! :D

  • Do you know how to send them to different phone carriers besides Verizon? Like Sprint or Cingular?

  • I have the Samsung Rogue and have tried saving it as .mip and .mid, tried emailing it from wowway and gmail, shortening the length, and saving it as both wav and mp3 on WavePad. Everytime the email gets to my phone it says that the attachment was removed. What am I doing wrong??

  • @LauraThe3xplora OOPS nvm it's midi. DUDE you're my hero! this is so amazing

  • Awsome it worked ....if it doesnt work for some of you...u might now have to change the video from mp3 to mip ......i didnt do it and it worked just fine

  • This video was super helpful!! thanks man!!

did you figure this out all on your own?

If so you should get a nobel prize lol sweet job dude

  • Some of it I pieced together from other how-to guide's but the quality was awful. Figuring out the trick of changing the file extensions I figured out on my own just knowing computer systems well.

  • man you are great ,thank you a lot man ,it was working for me man thanks

  • u rock man!

  • Go chargers

  • i followed everything on your video but doing the mid file thing didnt work it got sent to my phone and nothing played, so i saved it as a wmv file and it said it was too big then i saved it as a mp3 and it worked but it sounds like shit any help??

  • I'd save the file anyway, then go into your ringtones folder to see if it'll play in the ringtones folder. With some phones it may not play at all in the message(remember on mine it only played for a few seconds in the message, but worked when I saved it in all its glory), but once saved it may play. Either that, or drop the quality on the wmv file until it isn't too large anymore.

  • this really helps but is it supposed have a werid lady saying avs..... something... is it supposed 2 do that?

  • thnx man this really helps it works too!

  • ummmm can you go slower when your trying to find the file, i cant find where i saved the file !

  • Just resave it and put it in my documents or something its not hard at all.

  • Sorry for the late reply. Generally wavepad will save it to the same folder you pulled the original file from. Usually it's best to save them to your desktop.

  • OMFG I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS ACTUALLY WORKED I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN IT DID. UR JESUS xP.

    Much Love

  • wow... i cant believe that actually worked.. nice job dude.. u deserve an air pat on the back.. lol

  • I tried your tutorial, sent the song from my yahoo email, nothing... .... thought I did something wrong. Turns out it just takes 2 hours for it to arrive. Sheesh.

It did work. Now I'm considering going back and making a super-quality version. I use the enV 9900. Well anyway, you are my hero this month, MY50GT.

  • thanks man but i got it to work over 300 kbs!

  • Ok i figure it perfect (sending included) until the part with "save as ringtone". I do not have this option on my motorola V3C.

I'm with Verizon too and I should have it. Or is something wrong with my phone?

So I used the option "save sound". Then on "my sounds" option I do have only 7 option but nothing to make it ringtone.

Am I doing something wrong ?

Please help me Obi-Wan Kenobi you're my only hope!

  • Try saving the file as a WMA in Wavepad, then convert the file to .mid. Most Samsungs and MP3's for whatever reason don't get along.

  • What program or such are u using for sending the ringtone to your phone ?

  • WORKS fine tyyy so much

  • Can't get it to save as a ringtone on my phone, it will only let me save it as a sound. My phone is some type of LG sideways flip phone with a keyboard.

  • It works for me :L

  • Thanks man now my samsung rogue is pimped out! SWEET

  • Yo, I got da rougue too, AWESOME

  • Hell yeah! What ringtone you got?

  • it works awesome for the voyager to thanks a lot

  • i have the enV Touch

  • i saw neil diamond - cracklin rosie =p i <3 dat song

  • Works like a charm, Thanks! Only glitch is the Wavepad editor doesn't give me the option for KBPS, it recommends 8000 hz, 8 bits, Mono for the best setting for cell phones. Thanks again, no more $3 a ringtone for crap!

  • hank you soo much!!! saved me a lot of downloading things at twitterurl[.]net/i/kf

  • awesome works perfectly

  • Sweet. Works great on the Rouge as well.

  • I went through the whole process, but my phone never received a message. It's not that I couldn't open the message, I just never got one in the first place. I checked the email address and it supposedly sent successfully, so I'm not really sure what happened (T_T)

  • Nevermind, I tried it again and it went through right away. Don't know what the problem was the first time, but anyways, thanks, this was really helpful

  • u said to drop it below 300kb but will it work if i have it at 353kb?

  • This works like a dream. Thank you good sir.

  • Made mp3 file into .mid. File size is 668kb, 23 seconds long. emailed to phone, I get the email, but there is no file attached.

  • That file is too big, drop the quality and get it below 300 kb.

  • samething happens to me, even though my file is under 30sec. and 115kb any ideas? i have the Verizon Voyager

  • wont work for me, whenever i go to accept the message it says message receipt failed, do you have any idea why.

  • Are you making the files too big? Also, make sure you have PIX texts enabled or a texting plan. Other than that, only other thing I could think of is try a different e-mail address.

  • i have a texting plan but do you have to have a plan that has PIX texts or do u enable them on the phone? (sorry if this is a dumb question)

  • You can have a text plan and disable PIX, so I'd go into your user account to make sure PIX/Internet messaging isn't disabled. May work then.

  • You so rock bro!

  • what is the name of the program

  • Works like a charm. I did have to amp up by 200%. Saved some bucks on this one. Thanks.

  • ur the bomb dude

  • will i get charged?

  • If you have texting in your plan, no. Otherwise, it's 20 cents I think.

  • sooo if i have unlimited ....i dont pay

  • Exactly

  • It doesn't have a option to save as my ringtones just as my sounds

  • Comment removed

  • I use an internet website to cut down and pick the part of the song i want.

they are saved to my computer as windows media files but mp3 format sound, should they still work?

  • Yes. If it's an MP3 but shows that it OPENS with Windows Media Player, that's irrelevant and it'll work fine.

  • hey, i need some help. I put my phone number in to send this song to my phone, and i received a message from the MMSC NDR admin saying that there was no valid recipients. I have an LG Banter. Can you help me out?

  • You are da man! im so sick of losin my damn ringtones everytime i get another phone, keep the rubber side down my man!

  • The LG enV3 does receive them as .mp3 I found out, no need to change to .mid

  • Dude you rock ... thanks man!

  • This will work. But you need to know how to boost amplification if the tone is to soft and reduce the amplification if the volume is to low. I have a $300 software that i use at work and i work with sound everyday so it wasn't to hard for me. And you also DO NOT have to change it to a MIDI file. It works perfectly fine without changing it to a MIDI file.

  • With Wavepad, amplification increases the volume of all frequencies, which makes the ringtone louder. I don't see how reducing amplification on a low-volume ringtone will make it louder.

Also you don't have to change the ringtone to a MIDI file, you are correct. However, NOT changing to MIDI will make Verizon convert the ringtone to a lower quality QCP file prior to being sent to your phone. It'll make any audiophile cringe.

  • I did not have that problem. All you have to do is increase or decrease the amplification to take the over modulation out. Most songs if it is over modulating you will need to do about a -3db amplification. You also are NOT limited to a 30 second ringtone. I have made ringtones that are over a minute long that work perfectly fine : )

  • You aren't limited to a 30-second ringtone, but any longer is a waste of memory. A phone won't ring for longer than 30 seconds, let alone over a minute. But if files are too big they will be rejected, or re-converted to QCP regardless if the file is MIDI or not.

What kind of phone do you have with Verizon? I'm interested in why your phone kept the MP3 format without converting to QCP. It does on about every other Verizon phone.

  • I have the NV2.

  • it dont work for me i have the motorola vu204 and i get the text and it wont let me save it as a ringtone just a sound

  • That'll work as well. Phones that allow you to save a sound file as a sound and not a ringtone allow you to use MIDI sounds as ringtones.

  • this isn't any different quality from phonezoo. I need ringtones that are as loud as verizon's are..because I don't want to have my phone really loud just to hear the ringtone but then have my text alert loud enough that the neighbors could hear it =(

  • Some ringtones are quiet because the MP3's themselves are quiet. Best way to boost the volume is to boost amplification when you're in wavepad, then save the ringtone. You'll have to experiment with amplification percentages since each ringtone is different, but usually 150-200% should do the trick without distorting the file to a point noticeable on a phone speaker.

  • dude thanks so much!

  • thanks

  • THANK U MAN !!! OMG ridiculous how they charge 2.99 but thanks ... good looking out !

  • thank you so much!!! that helped me a lot! :D thanks!!!!

  • just google wavepad

  • whats the web site??????

  • OMG DUDE THANKS!! This video rocked!

  • You're the man.

  • thanks a lot man. verizon makes it so much more complicated then t-mobile.

  • what's the site again?

  • i sent it to my phone and no sound plays ...i went to save as sound... and it said it had no sound... :( i did everything like u said...

oh and how about for stupid verizon phones that dont set sounds as ringtones...

  • Some cheaper Verizon phones are not mp3 or wma capable and will not play custom ringtones. Try converting the file as a wma, then change the extension to mid, it may work.

Yeah, for some reason Verizon thinks using your own ringtones is evil. I pay for the music, so what's the problem with me chopping it and turning into a ringtone? It ain't illegal.

  • what do u mean convert the file as a wma????

  • Instead of saving the file as an mp3 when you're in wavepad, save it as a wma.

Some Verizon phones will only play wma instead of mp3, so this should do the trick if it won't work as an mp3.

  • Nvm i see what you mean when you say convert. Thanks man. im making me n my friends Ringtones. =D this was a very helpfull video.

  • you rock this didn't work on my last phone but it works on my new one thank you

  • HOW DO I SEND THE RIGNTONE TO MY PHONE?

  • Thank you so much!!! I always hated verizons ringtones and now I can finally make my own, for free also!!! youre awesome, thank you.

  • i have a verizon phone and it says save as sound and it wont go to a ringtone

  • Comment removed

  • thank thank thank thank you i'll subscrib

  • do you put dashes in between the numbers?

  • Nope

  • i have the samsung trance..and it wont work for me =\ it sends to my phone, but when i open my message there's nothing in it and when i try to save a content the text says there isn't any

  • Try saving the ringtone as a wmv before changing the extension to mid. That may help.

  • hey i have the same problem pliz help me i have the same phone but the message is empty

  • yeah, even when i saved it as wmv before changing the extension to mid it still didn't work...so finally i just gave up. lol this worked on my last samsung phone, but not this one. my conclusion is..this samsung trance is gay and can't have free custom ringtones. lol

  • Thank you so much!! I've been at this all day!

  • No problem, as far as the WAP encoding error, some ringtones will send one month and won't send the next. I still have no idea what causes it.

Must be a glitch in the Matrix.

  • Comment removed

  • omg. you rock.

  • haha i saved it as mib insted of mid i was like wtf ok?? lol and i thought the guy who thought it was DCWPIX was dumb !

  • do you know how to make ringtones for at&t phones. preferably the blackberry pearl?

  • Smartphones can be a major pain for ringtones. I know on my dad's Pantech smartphone we had to put the ringtone's in users/application/sounds, if I'm not mistaken, and they only worked in 48 kpbs, and they can't be bigger than 250 kb. I imagine the Blackberry is no different, but I haven't had the opportunity to try ringtones on one.

  • The email bounces back to me with the message

"Message could not be delivered to mobile.

Error: No valid recipients for this MM"

Anyone have any way to get around that? Thanks.

  • Do you have a text plan on your phone? If not it may be rejecting e-mail service.

Otherwise, I'd try to use a different e-mail service.

Another way to double check your e-mail is to send a PIX message to your e-mail address (instead of putting a phone number or contacts as the recipient put your own e-mail address), then you can verify it's correct.

  • DCWPIX or DZWPIX ??

  • VZWPIX

  • That is awesome. Thanks..you've just saved me so much money!!

  • Thanks dude! I've been wanting the Ghost Nappa and FF7 Fanfare on my phone for a while!

  • FF7 Fanfare, now that's a good one!

  • I can send it to my phone but there is no sound

  • Comment removed

  • I sent it to my env touch and it downloads and saves as a ringtone... But there is No Sound what so ever! Help please! It seems like i tried everything!

  • Are you making the files too big or too long? Someone posted on here no bigger than 250 kilobytes. Another trick is to save the ringtone as a wmv file, then change the extension to mid. Good luck.

  • just got the touch was wondering if you got it to work?

  • Nope.Tried 3 times got the same message.

  • I know you said the tone will only play for a 2 seconds. But I should still be able to hear those 2 seconds again if i click the play again option on my phone, but for this text, there is no play again option.

  • I sent it using AOL. But you can use any e-mail service to send it including Yahoo, MSN Live, Google Mail, etc. And yes you're supposed to email it.

I haven't gotten a text that shows a "play again" option. But is there an option to save as Ringtone or Save as Sound? That's what you're looking for. Some phones might not play the ringtone at all until you save it. Just out of curiosity what phone is this?

  • Thanks for the help! it worked, and the sound quality is amazing! I can't believe the quality is this good, all the other thing I used before for ringtones gave me screeching ringtones. This is great, thanks a lot!

  • Am i supposed use a program to send it? Or email?

I used my yahoo email, I sent it to my phone....I got a text message, opened it, but there was no sound, just a blank screen. I definitely attached the file too, I don't know what's wrong.
