they were able to win all the seats in 2004. In terms of popular vote its really close. For a defeat, for ADMK, out of the all the general elections, this has been the closest, so its not really a big victory for the DMK as people make it out to be. The reason polling has been wrong, is the same reason polling was around the country, since there were a late surge of voters voting for the UPA gov't and Manmohan Singh.
Dear Mr. Nader, DMK contested 21 out of 39 seats in Tamil Nadu and it has got a vote share of 25.5% across the State, which is very good. This is better than Nithish Kumar's performance in Bihar. And with regards to ADMK, it had a powerful caste as well as arithmetic alliance. Despite all this, DMK secured a victory which is definitely massive.
No sir. You are not right in this point. DMK has gained an alarming support in Tamil Nadu, especially in rural areas. First, distribution of rice at Re. 1, free color TVs, free LPG gas stoves for house-hold, free acres of land, establishment of women self-financing groups, sanction of Rs.20000 for pregnant and unmarried women, implementation of 6th pay commission have all favoured the DMK in a big way. Establishment of IT parks, industries, fly overs, employment have gained votes in urban areas
