AS they say, latest today, obsolete after 2 months. That is how fast technology evolves in today's generation. How can each people cope up[ with such change?
He said he biked across the US on the power of his own body. What about the bicycle? It's a human-machine relationship, isn't it ironic that he says he dropped technology to travel on a piece of technology?
@eksiarvamus Things that creatures use are considered part of the natural world (like rocks, trees for shelter, etc.). So really technology can be anything from a pencil to a table to clocks to electronics.
@FunLucas182 Some of em suck. Don't get me wrong, I love the topics, but some of em are TERRIBLE speakers. I recommend searching for "TED" on "stumbleupon". I find the lame ones are effectively weeded out on that "social media sharing network".
Life is like a river, it flows and curves and eventually dries up. A fish with wings and the ability to fly is really a bird. A mouse is neither a fish, nor a bird. It's all about a point in time and not about facts.

The first man to apply Darwins principles to technology and one of the finest pieces of futurism ever written. I am disappointed he didnt bring it up.
@Saktoth- Tech is what society wants, so it gets it...
It's guaranteed that many noses point toward a device on every metro train and those born after the early 1970's can give someone their experience in playing video games more than their experience in social gatherings probably.
So is the question's about too much electronic dependency? Oh well...as predicted by Butler.
But, I can't let my degree in tech go down the drain, ya know. =)

I like to think technology is the process of an invention or creation whether it be biological or mechanical...our society is made up of both since the first civilisation. Man was created from elements of nature and from us we created/invented tools to develop ourselves Life is made from the technology of nature, yes and machinery is made from the technology of man The function is the same but their purpose is most definately not always the same so better to keep technology separate from nature
its going to get to the point where we HAVE TO ask that question: how do you differentiate technology from biology? And then the, "that's easy silly!" answer: Because you can resurrect, redefine, and revamp long extinct technology, and not biology (outside of jurassic park). Cool thought.

I could be totally mistaken But I see technological evolution as an extension of biological evolution and cloning is some kind of feedback of biological evolution to itself through technological evolution while technology begins to become "biological"
I would say that technological evolution is a type of cultural evolution (along the lines of memetics), which in turn is an extension of biological evolution. They all interact to shape the evolutionary pressures in each in a larger dynamic system. It's no longer possible to separate human biological evolution from culture and technology.
@thehappyfascist interesting way of putting it. I also see technology aligning more with nature as it evolves, since that is the more cutting edge and efficient way to be. For instance getting energy from old, squashed plants in the form of oil is pretty primitive, but if we could be as smart as the plant itself, and get energy from the original pure source, then we'd be talking.
Technology will take on the complexity of cells, etc, and so on.
I have a question, Whether is cloning a process for biological evolution or technological evolution? In other words, how new technologies may impact classic biological systems and evolutionary processes.
sidetrack much.

Great guy but saying, that technology doesn't die out is obviously not true. Would be great if we could still build the Saturn V.

Consciousness incarnating into matter. A I is inevitable. Cosmic consciousness, living consciousness and matter consciousness are the same thing.

Technology is anything invented or innovated by humans. It's anything that does occur naturally.

@reddinosaur7 But then why only by humans? Other creatures also use tools. Isn't this technology aswell?

ideas evolve, one thing in a human's life such as that does, if you say technology is a new kingdom I say there is not a finite ammount of kingdoms.

cloning is present in both, because they (biology & technology) belong to the same higher mechanism, which is evolution
