i agree the x -factor represented a time where iron maiden needed to do something powerful after bruce left. fear of the dark a little poppy and radio friendly (still love that cd) but x-factor was all business and proved maiden will still go on with or without bruce and adrian.

This album is actually much better than what people give it credit for, Blaze Bailey is a great singer (specially listen to his solo stuff, he's amazing and has amazing showmanship and song writing skills)...

The problem is that he probably didn't fit in with Maiden, but people who hate him are idiots...HE DIDN'T FORCE HIMSELF INTO THE BAND!

If anything take it out on Steve Harris who hired him (Steve being the band leader) and NOT Blaze!

@SadSingleRyan One thing about it that I think helps the song a lot (besides having Bruce on vocals) is that it's faster. It's got that marching "Ryme of the Ancient Mariner" feel to it. Here, it's still great, it's just really really slow. Blaze rips the vocals still. He's a great singer, and I mean that sincerely. It's a shame that his claim to fame is that he's the replacement, but the way I see it, is that no matter who replaced Bruce Dickinson wouldn't be as good be cause Bruce is THE best.

I never cared much for Blaze outside of Wolfsbane, and Dickinson - while undeniably a great singer - has little range or versatility. Neither have the balls or sheer power behind their voice that Di'Anno did and none of Maiden's songs were ever as intense as on their first 2 albums...both of which with Di'Anno on vocals
