This song is a complete rip off of The Jayhawks "Waiting for the Sun," a song that came out a year earlier and featured Tom Petty's keyboard player Benmont Tench. Plus, The Jayhawks opened for Petty that year, so Tom heard Waiting For the Sun every night!

Go listen to Waiting For the Sun by The Jayhawks and then come back and complain about the Chili Peppers ripping off Tom Petty.
