  • thank you for your video's. I've been using YT alot lately for latin prayer text and otherwise to enrich my prayer life. Your video's have been most helpful. God bless you.

  • Umm how is prayer reading from a piece of paper? Praying to God is supposed to be from your heart and there is no such thing as "teaching" someone to pray or such thing as "morning" prayers or "night time" prayers. Praying means talking to God about anything on your heart and mind at any time of the day. Just think of it this way, when you have friends or family you talk to, you don't talk to them by reading off a piece of paper that someone else wrote, so its the same thing.

  • @Tsoma1 What you have just described is certainly one type of prayer, but it is not the only way to pray. These prayers are based on the psalms and are the same prayers that Jesus himself would have said as a devout Jew. Because of different time zones, the Liturgy of the Hours is being said somewhere at any and all times of the day. It unites the Church though time and space. Surely there have been times when you were praying but you didn't know what to say. Written prayers are helpful then.

  • @Tsoma1 . Umm suggests you are thinking. Communication can be done in many ways, verbal, visual, kinesthetic. Prayer is communication. Learning is done in many ways, verbal, audio, kinesthetic and repetition among others. Prayer is of many types, Thanksgiving, Petition, Intention, intersession and meditative. I learned as a Coptic Christian that we need to learn to pray. Learning takes place in many ways. Reading translates to understanding and eventually no need to read.

  • @Tsoma1 Part 2. . As a Coptic Christian I learned St. Paul, Romans 8:26 "In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too. St. Paul also teaches we should pray without ceasing. We communicate with email, blog, twitter, phone, skype, text, telephone, letter, in person, Ummm sometimes I read things of interest to my family.

  • @Tsoma1 It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place after He had finished one of His disciples said to Him, Lord teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples. And He said to them When you pray say Father hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation. (Luke 11:1-5) There is such a thing as teaching someone to pray

  • @Tsoma1 I guess you never read the psalms, because they are certainly written prayers. If you read the psalms, you are reading a prayer from a piece of paper!!!

  • @bradleesargent WOW people...seriously??? I didn't say praying psalms is bad...I'm just talking about the video..I mean even the title sounds wrong "HOW TO PRAY: Morning prayer"...there is no "How to" in praying...that's all I'm saying....

  • @Tsoma1 "'Lord, teach us to pray'...'When you pray, say...'" (Lk 11). Looks like Christ's disciples needed a "how to." There's nothing wrong with what she is doing here in the video.

Check those out and know what you're talking about before you criticize.

  • cool video. thank you for posting

  • Thanks for posting. I stumbled upon an iPhone/iPad app called Divine Office and I had no idea what the Liturgy of the Hours was.

So basically it is a set of prayers for Catholics? I'm Nazarene. We do not have any such prayers. Interesting to learn though.

  • @macadamfamily

The prayers are compiled by the Catholic Church, but will benefit all Christians. My favorite thing about written prayers is that they lead me in my thoughts during prayer. A lot of the times when I am by myself praying I pray the same things over and over. Reading prayers helps me to focus on things I otherwise would not have focus on.

  • Thank God You Did These Videos! I've Just Recieved A Shorter Morning & Evening Prayer Prayer, And I Was So Confused Until Now. I Have Subscribed. I Think You Should Do More Instructional Videos! ;)

    Benedicite+

  • now i know there is a god,,,,just look at you,he did a grate job,,,,,,

  • @kraigthorne I am not an expert at different christian groups. I am studying this now. The Catholics have the LIturgy Of The Hours and the Anglicans have the Book Of Common Prayer. Different Christian groups use different books and forms of prayers for their morning and evening prayers but they all use the psalms for thier morning and evening prayers. I don't know everything about his subject .I started to study this when I learned the early church use to pray in the morning and in the evening.

  • @ruthgladvin28

Actually there were more prayers... The Liturgy of the hours is a 4 book set, the Christian Prayer is a shorter version for people who don't have as much time, and there is an even shorter version which is called "Shorter Christian Prayer"

    :)

  • Is it just me or do all the people who put down Christians want everyone in the world to act like Christians are taught to act? In other words they say Chirstians are bad, yet they agree with what Christ said about how people should treat eachother.

  • Thank you for posting this video. I just bought the book "Christian Prayer" but I still have questions on how to use it. You video helped me. How do you do a prayer with a feast day of a saint. The really confuses me. One more question I have is why are there readings from the early church fathers in the back of the book? How to you use them in the prayer. It helped me to see someone explain it.

  • @ruthgladvin28 I noticed that some religions have prayer books and others do not. Do you know what religions have prayer books?

  • @Socracea I'm a Christian but not brain-washed. Go ahead and unsubscribe. I really couldn't care less.
