  • Dan Hsu: Just how awesome is your game?

    Peter Moore: So awesome.

  • Capcom will still get my money today for the way they supported the DC.

  • I was like 8.

  • This is november 1999, right? I was 17 back then. I remember when it was launched. DAMN I wanted it. Little did I know it was Sega's last flop.

  • I was only thinning!

    - Adam Sessler

  • Oh man I remember I was like 10 when the dreamcast came out and we got it for Christmas, one of the best breaks ever.

  • i was only 4 and i still rember getting my dreamcast

  • I was only 24!

  • I was only 14!

  • No top comment??? Uhhh unoriginal comment that says I like a shitty game like cod!

:D COD is so realistic :D

  • adam sessler had hair.....

  • @BKVisionFreePerView yes ZDTV then it was changed to Tech Tv then G4TechTv then the horrible G4

  • Dreamcast was and still is the real deal you fucking bitch!!!!!! not even the PS3 or xBox 360 can't compare to the innovation this system meant for the industry!!!! Nowthat Sega is mainly a software developer maybe they can try to create and release a couple of experimenal titles again for the system... if it's sucessful this clearly means they can once again develop some console...backwards compatible please!!!!!

  • @689433 I agree with you. The Dreamcast was an innovative console when it first launched, but let's face it, it wasn't THAT innovative. It ran CD-Rs. C'mon...the Dreamcast is the only system in it's generation who's standard games were on cd-rs. And while I understand that it's the first system to be released, there's bearly a year apart from the launch of the PS2, which can play DVDs. BUT, I CAN argue that the beloved Dreamcast is the most bad-ass system in it's generation because it had online

  • The first Time I have ever heard 128 bits

  • Isn't this the same guy that works for EA sports?

  • 3:28 HAHA what a douche! He looks like a character out of Crazi Taxi.

  • 128 BITS? GODAMN

  • This is when gamers were GAMERS!

  • peter moore destroyed the saturn and then the dream cast. people should read all the dumb arse mistakes/decisions HE made. I sincerely hate this dude.

  • iwana have secs with the host

  • No wonder the Dreamcast failed. Everything around it caught fire.

  • BRING SEGA BACK!!!!!

  • lol its Adam Sessler, he looks so young

  • I bet Microsoft with crash and Sega will come

back and replace them, either Sega or Apple. Because Microshit is falling behind.

  • hey guys im from the future and just wanted to tell you that sega dreamcast is a complete success. sega has a gaming monopoly nintendo and sony have crashed and burned with gamecube and ps2 invest all your money into dreamcast

  • it looks like It was pretty a good system, who trough that same company who made sega cd and sega 32x could got it right with dreamcast. Still competition was strong and microsoft entered market so someone had to go...

  • Is that the guy from xplay? :o

  • Dreamcast is tight all other other systems suck ass

  • Wow is that DC graphics? It looks better than PS2!

  • Poor Peter Moore :o( He really got shafted on this deal.

  • Damn dude! This take me back. I started watching around the time when Kate Botello was co-hosting. Too bad G4 has fallen, but Adam Sessler remains the same. Always good.

  • peter moore can NEVER be trusted.

look at what he did to sega, infamous RRoD with microsoft and now he's fuckin up ea sports.

  • @ninjabake the red ring of death is gone now

  • @mariojuggernaut22 Yeah,it changed to the red dot of death.

  • @GetPatriotized but is it rare now

  • Anyone who uses the K word are despicable fools, anyway.

  • The young Jeff Gerstmann here would not know that he would make a VILE article on his own site, Giant Bomb, by not only calling an innocent 11 year old Sonic the Hedgehog fan a k**, but calling him that FOUR times. HE IS A BOY.

What a despicable fool he is now.

  • The DC was a great console which was killed off over night. SEGA even admitted that not making it a DVD console was it's biggest mistake which at the time, the DVD format was big news (it basically took off unlike Blu-ray...). The House of the Dead 2 and SEGA Rally 2 looked superb at the time.

  • @borobengal It did not die overnight...

  • A sad story of an excellent system with spectacular games that punched out too early.

  • A console ahead of its time...way ahead of its own time.

I really respect sega dreamcast that much and i not have one.

  • it had a incredible launch in america, at the time record breaking pre orders and record breaking sales, it held that momentum for about a years, but they knew the hammer was gonna drop with ps2

  • YA CAPCOM best company ever

  • playstation sucks its all about sega and nintendo

  • @bestgamer2112 Sony hater...

  • Sega already knew the system would fail right when it launched in the us.

  • @KUROGUY When the DC was released in the US in September 1999 (October 1999 in Europe), SEGA (in Japan) pulled the plug in January 2001, so about 15 months wasn't much of a lifespan in the US. But 6 months after the US release, the PS2 was released in Japan (March 2000), SEGA knew it was game over. Japan, then the US, then Europe went mad for the PS2, which to date, has sold around 150m units. I still prefer the DC though. Like the Saturn, it's more of a retro console.

  • @borobengal japan did not pull the plug of the dreamcast thay sold dreamcast and game from 1998-2007 peter moore prisedent of sega usa pulled the plug sold out microsoft if you noticed shenmue 2 was relesed in japan and europee but not USA you had to buy xbox if wanted shenmue 2 in 2003 peter joined xbox 2003-2008 now in EA that company who dint join dreamcast i wonder why PETER MOORE ?

  • omg it's tails doll @ 1:28

  • Lol, i never even noticed FFVIII was released on the same day as the Dreamcast

Chrono Cross was released later in 2000.

    Lol, you know what?

The Ps1 was still rocking back in 2000, the Dreamcast was a graphics whore machine like the Xbox made for those who value polygons over gameplay

The Ps1 already had better games, and Sony was already announcing sequels to those games for the Ps2.

The Dreamcast never stood a chance, So sorry DC Fanboys but Ps1 + Ps2 > Dreamcast anytime!

  • you should all feel lucky, video games almost didn't happen, the industry almost fell apart

  • is sega evne still around far as i know the only players in the market are sony, microsoft and nintendo for consoles

  • OMG ITS ADAM SESSLER

  • wow adam looks the same

  • Its a shame everyone was bending over for Sony and didn't give the Dreamcast a chance, was a great little system

  • @DaveSimonH

It's normal that when a System is as sucessful as the Ps1 was, people will want to try out the Ps2 before deciding on the others, Sega always tried to be the earliest one to the party and only suckers would buy Sega's systems when they came out, because history will tell you they discontinue systems in a heartbeat and the competition is usually better, in these aspects, the Dreamcast did not dissapoint as it was discontinued in 2 years.

I'd say you bent over for Sega my friend.

  • @XcXtrippyXcX Sony had plenty of finance behind the launch, and marketing for the system. Dreamcast had some great games but the Sony hype machine killed the system before it even launched. And no DVD drive didn't help matters. Plus its easy to say things in hindsight, sure the Saturn bombed but the Genesis/Mega Drive before it was a big hit.

Visually they were on par, sure the later PS2 games looked better but I don't think the Dreamcast was around long enough to live up to its full potential.

  • poor dreamcast. R.I.P.

  • adam sessler has more hair now!

  • hey its adam sessler

  • ZOMG!!! 128 bits! lol, i remember when bits were all the rage back in the day, now they dont mean shit

  • @aNightmaresRequiem it still means quite a bit xD! but i know what you mean i remember that also!

  • Dreamcast has to be one of the greatest consoles of all time. :D

Millions of $ in advertising. Unfortunately I don't think where I live millions of £ were put into advertising the Dreamcast as the only official Dreamcast advert I can remember seeing here in the UK was a 4-5 second long advert advertising 'Sega Bass Fishing'. But it's still a brilliant console. :D

  • $100m in advertising was a lot of money for a company already in debt by this time

  • i only had 2 games on the dreamcast.

sonic adventure & sonic adventure 2.

    for the genesis (my 1st console), all i owned a sonic 1 & 2.

all sega consoles i had i ONLY owned sonic games! never pay any attention to the other series of games. pretty funny.

sonic adventure 2 was like glued into my dreamcast! never took it out.

still own my DC & still playing sonic adventure 2. DC was not useless at all to me. when i want to play sonic, i hook that DC or genesis up!

  • I can't wait for Christmas! I just KNOW my mom is going to buy me a Dreamcast! It looks SOOO COOL and it blows all other companies out of the water! Nothing is more fun than SONIC! POWER STONE! TOY COMMANDER! GO SEGA!

  • wtf?...a FUBU shirt?!

  • wtf?...a FUBU shirt?!

  • Dreamcast was definitely the best game system of all time as far as fun games go, and since Sega has dropped out of the console market, the only thing i have to look forward to is somebody emulating it on a hand held console

  • I hear Adam from G4. a minute in...oh there he is, awesome.

  • Best system of all time.

  • long live the dreamcast

  • Whoa, remember when Adam Sessler wasn't such a douche?

  • @Rachman1337 i've seen a couple people say that about adam why is he a douche what is he doing now that he didn't do back then

  • lol 2:18

  • amante de sony

  • FUCK Electronic Arts... piece of shit developers who didn't support one of the greatest systems ever... they have no soul and are overrated as hell

  • The Dreamcast is such an awesome system, its one of the few times where I really looked forward to the games and online function. Sega made their best games when they supported theor OWN hardware, I miss those days in gaming.

  • dude....lauren fielder is kinda hot lol

  • @jerzy862 yes she is

  • @unreal030

Screw you Sony fanboy, i've had a PS3 and the games SUCK.

  • Uncharted 2 Looks better than all these games

    PLAYSTATION 3 !!!

  • @unreal030 There's a reason for that...this is 10 years ago, on the mid-console between the 1st and 2nd generation 3D consoles.

  • God fucking damn. Young Adam Sess, Peter Moore with SEGA, and pre-Gamespot Senior Editor Jeff Gerstmann. This is a blast from the past.

  • I think it's funny when they interview people, that the camera is tilted i guess it gives it a more intense look. But I love the dreamcast!!

  • wow, nothing has changed in the world of video game news. This was 1999, now it's 2010, and adam sessler is still hosting, tits are still co-hosting, peter moore is still being a corporate douche, jeff gerstmann is still skeptical, and the intro graphics are still just as xtreme

  • @riff1

LOL! Adam Sessler with his mullet back then, boy has times changed.

  • @riff1 tits? why would you call her tits? her tits aren't all that big at all.

  • Oh my God! How annoying was that person who put the game disc into the dreamcast at the start? I want to smack his face.

You do NOT treat the Dreamcast like that, you asshole! DREAMCAST FTW

  • @samhain81 Lol, it reminds me of how I put my discs into the original Playstation...

  • @samhain81 What did the person do? He/She was just firing the system up with a game.

  • @Ohsta6t2 Are You kidding ? Look at the way he put the game disc into the system. Nobody caring to their games consoles put discs in that way, it was always index finger in the hole, with your thumb around the edge, then gently put the disc onto the console spindle, then pushed down till the game was in place, not the retarded, uncaring way like the idiot in the video above. He obviously had a lot of Sony love at the time, to treat the Dreamcast that way, or he has no love for all consoles.

  • @samhain81 You do have some point. The person held the game disc's face that is read by the laser which is not a good way to hold a disc as fingerprints could be left on, damaging the disc instead of having the index finger in the hole and the thumb on the edge which the latter is the better way to hold it.

Sony['s PlayStation] was the most popular video games console then although Nintendo['s 64] had some of the share. Other consumers were anticipating the PlayStation 2 at the time.

  • man, this is some holy grail type ish. i miss these days...u had to have a certain kinda cable or satellite to watch zd/techtv..I <3 old skool gamespot tv....

  • they seem more lik they got somehwere back then not now they dont do cool shit lke this this seems at a bigger level cos its on tv but gamespot atillrule

  • God I miss this show so much, I use to wake up at like 7am on Saturday morning just to catch it..... X-Play is nothing compared to this.

I really want a torrent of all the episodes up until it became Extended Play.

  • thank you so much! i taped over this 8 years ago and was devastated! if you were here id kiss you haha

  • Gertsmann !!!!!!

  • Peter Moore gets more jobs than anyone i know

  • 2:00 tails doll.....

  • Adam Sessler?!

  • @Xteaphn

lol I wonder how old he was?

anyways *sigh* I miss the old SEGA. I think that if DC stayed on the market longer Peter Moore could have saved it. They should have never hired Bernie uhhh :P

  • I dunno. Adam still looks like he's balding. Maybe he always looked like that, even as a kid.

+ Totally agree with you there. They should have never dropped the dreamcast, and just followed through with it.

  • Yeah, I don't think many people know that SEGA also dropped the DC because from a business stand point being a 3rd party seemed financially better to SEGA. :P

  • they have made so many bad games since going 3rd part its sad.

  • exactly, and the only thing that is keeping them alive is STH but we all know that after DreamCast, poor Sonic became shit unfortunately.

  • It's actually *the same show*. Gamespot TV became Extended Play, then XPlay.

  • Where does Gamespot's "On the Spot" fit in then?

  • On the Spot is unrelated web content.

GamespotTV changed its name to Extended Play/XPlay after ZDTV was sold and became TechTV.

  • want more :)

  • beta video of q3 in the intro :0

  • Great uploads -- how many of these old videos do you have?

  • Nine episodes.
