Sure donations help, but an active legacy is better! Give a man a fish and he eats for a day -- teach him how to fish and he eats for life ...
For example: building and funding schools in disadvantaged communities, orphanages and other ongoing solutions to improve people's lives -- way beyond the basics -- but don't forget food, water, clothing & shelter too :-)

Eddie is a GREAT guy and pretty rich all by himself. I found out through working for him that the rich are by and large pretty nice people. When in fact, just like with taxes, it is the wealthy that contribute the overwhelmingly higher percentage to charitable organizations.
And if someone decides to spend THEIR money on 5K shoes, doesn't make it wrong. Trying to bridge that against world hunger is ridiculous.
We are both right. It is true that poorer people give a higher percentage of their income as you have stated. But it is also true that the wealthiest give more in total dollar amount as I have stated (which is what I was talking about).
But the notion that spending money you've earned the way you want is somehow wrong because you're not giving it to Africa or "saving whales" is ridic. Every penny spent on a product or service gives someone else a job.
The keyword is a percentage of ones income so if you make less whatever you donate is going to contribute to that number.
Now if you make trillions you could easily outdonate the poor without it taking to much of what you actually make therefore being a lower percentage of your income.
No I was pointing out the falsehood that rich people donate less money to the poor simply because they don't donate a higher percentage of their income to the poor.
Well, the poor are more generous -and- give more money to charity than the rich because percentage is the relevant number you look at when you are determining how generous someone is.

The rich have more money than the poor. Whether or not they actually earn what the universe gives them is a matter of dispute.

happy is a decision you make everyday, it's not a feeling. everything that is happening in the world today is the only way that it's supposed to be. my ideal world is world we live in. people can do what they want. governments can make laws and society can try to shape your world view, but it's your decision to be a force in the world, not a thing being acted upon.

I think the moral of this video that money is the rood of all evil but how can that be when money, like a rock, is just an inanimate object that can't rationalize good or evil. Like money, a rock can be thrown at either another person to do harm or used to build shelter in the woods (camping) and is void of any good or evil in it. They've done studies. The poorest quintile (the poorest 20%) contribute a much higher percentage of their income to charity than the richest quintile.
But don't tell that to the richest quintile: they're very thin-skinned and used to flattery.

Well, the poor are more generous -and- give more money to charity than the rich because percentage is the relevant number you look at when you are determining how generous someone is.
How much of a personal sacrifice they are willing to make.
The rich have more money than the poor. Whether or not they actually earn what the universe gives them is a matter of dispute.
It's actually easier for a camel to go through the head of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven.

I think the moral of this video that money is the rood of all evil but how can that be when money, like a rock, is just an inanimate object that can't rationalize good or evil. Like money, a rock can be thrown at either another person to do harm or used to build shelter in the woods (camping) and is void of any good or evil in it. The people I talk to are not rich, nor do they like to think. Most people in the United States are nice, but totally apathetic. They'll say, "unless it effects me, then I don't care". They really just don't care. Any conversation that's not about trivial matters, is going to frustrate them. It will be meant with resistance. Then the brainwashed consumer masses will think you're strange, and you'll have to apologize. Sorry, what's new at the mall, or the movies? Gotta love that weather!

i find it interesting as the planes those folks are riding on, are probably the ones with the technology to allow them to do thier wireless stuff. Hell some of the new planes have the internest built into the screen on the headrest infront of you...
