  • I suggest using olive oil rather than the butter, I have heard and read that the butter on salmon cancels out the good for you Omega 3s and defeats the reason for eating the same for the nutrition purposes.

  • I have done this recipe twice, and it is without a doubt the best salmon I have ever had...............and I have cooke a HUGE amount of salmon in my life.

One of the key things is to use WILD salmon as opposed to farm raised..that's if you don't have the ability to catch your own. I also found the thhe red (sockeye) salmon is the best to use. King salmon should be awesome as well. Remember....USE WILD CAUGHT SALMON!!! NOT FARM RAISED!

  • @jborfair Specifically, how would the results be inferior if you went with farmed salmon as opposed to wild caught?

  • I do a whole lot of cooking, and I fish all over the world due to my job in the Air Force flying C-17s. I was in Kodiak Alaska this past weekend and caught some Sockeye Salmon. I did a fillet this way, and I have to say without a doubt this was by far the best salmon, if not the best fish I have ever had. I found the key is to flip the fillet when you see the fat start to ooze from the fillet. When it oozes again, it is ready. I soaked my cedar plank for about 8 hours as well.

  • Very informative!

  • Title says recipe, Butter and a pre mix is not a recipe:( What is in the blackening seasoning? what else can use.

  • I use use Penzy's Northwood's Fire as a blackening agent.

  • @clnlgr blackening seasoning can be found in your supermaket in the seasoning section, its exactly what it's called. I agree this is not just a recipe, check out blackened salmon recipe from fitnesscoah2007

  • Looks good nice video!!

  • the oil u added created a smoke barrier and locked out flavor. Salmon is fatty enough... Should need no oil.. looked cooked to perfection though!

     yummy

  • it was butter not oil lmfao

  • good looking salon and i know all types of grilled samlon and i must say that, the salmon looked amazing and you did a fantastic job explainingn it!!!! 5 out of 5 stars!!!!!!
