Picked one up for 40 euro, sold as "dead", replaced board battery gave it the "hold 7-8-9 and turn on". Reset the presets and holy moly it sprang into life.
Best VA out there IMO, hooked it up to a RM1x and have the time of my life with it.
sorry I deleted the post that a guy wanted to know how I made so agressive leads without using distortion/flanger, anyway..
the yamaha an1x uses Frequency modulation for doing more intresting sounds rhater than traditional analogish, also you can use the modulation wheel for moving the parameters of Fm and making a real wha wha kinda effect, also with detune, pWM, Ringmodulation, unison mode, you can get a real, well I mean, A REALLY PHAT SOUND!
sorry for deleting your message, hope you read it.
You can, it just takes a lot of practice and memorization. Start out learning the scales and practice slowly, gradually working your way up to faster and faster tempos.
