i saw them at the croydon greyhound in 78 got a free 7 inch disc for the first 100 people in i got all the band to sign it and got so drunk i left it on the train on my way back to clapham! fucking great times! i wont even mention when i saw them with the nipple erectors at the angel in islington oops sorry i just did!

Thanks for the post, nice vintage vid. I "lived" '77 but too young to go to clubs so I missed out on those early gigs, I only had the vinyls and my imagination :-)

I think the year might be wrong on this. Captain Sensible is on bass here, so that means that Brian James should be on guitar. If so this is probably from 1977.

for legal reasons i believe this footage which is from the 2 dvd set from mge had to have the year 1978 on it,as any true damned fan knows it was from the roxy in london between feb and april 1977.will sussex uni 1977 will ever see the light of day on dvd.

Great one! But my guess it's from the first half '77, cause no Lu in sight here yet. And '78 was for the main part a year without The Damned, until the regrouping as The Doomed with Sensible switching to guitar. So, if this may sound pedantic, it's also because I probably am haha.
