blur is indie-rock for me. difficult to tell though as they have many different tunes and changed a lot over the years. they were far more experimentive and creative than oasis and that's why i enjoy them far more than oasis, who start to get a bit boring after a while as it's more or less the same stuff over and over again.
however, they're still miles better than fucking metallica.

I was a fan of Oasis on the beginning and think their first two albums are excellent. What I don't understand is why they run out of steam. After 'What's The Story...' everything they produced was utter shite.
I think Blur were a much more durable band and I don't understand why swagger seems to be important.
Anyways since I never really liked metallica I really can't have them influence my opinion of who is better.
My opinion : Blur is better than Oasis any day of the week.
Oasis in my opinion had one good album and to be honest with you the whole album isn't even that good besides the obvious songs which I got tired of before I even heard them..

One good album?, which one is that?. Definitely Maybe, What's the story or the b sides album (masterplan) which is a unparrelled in quality. Damon Albarn is a great songwriter and musician but a good singer and frontman he is not.
Radiohead's most memorable track from what I know is 'Creep'. It's a fucking great song, but compared to most of their stuff that you hear on 'In Rainbows' and 'Hail To The Thief' isn't it the most easiest song they play? I understand that bands, over time evolve their sound which Blur and Radiohead did, but I don't think Oasis deserves all this shit about their easy-to-play music. Stereophonics is a band that is so underrated that I think should be up with these 3.
For a band to be more different doesn't necessarily make them 'better'? The only reason people say Blur and Radiohead are better than Oasis is because they make different sounds. In one aspect I can understand that, but Oasis came as a package and came as a sound. If you want to hear that sort of rock, Oasis. Blur and Radiohead have produced great songs but I personally think they are getting away with a lot of shit weird in-melodic tunes because they make up a BS story to go with it.

Oasis' lyrics are terrible and have no structure. 'Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball'? 'Today was gonna be the day they were gonna throw it back to you'? Their only successful song with in any way good lyrics is Live Forever. Blur on the other hand, their songs tell stories. Same with Radiohead. Let's not even mention their musicianship. And just to clear things up, Gorillaz are far, far better than Beady Eye. Beady Eye are shit on Damon Albarn's shoe.

How awkward ... I'm a big fan of Metallica and Blur. My purist ways have been put aside. But I do agree that Oasis are divs. ... And why does everyone make their judgement about Blur based on 'Boys and Girls?' .. It's such a terrible song, Blur has done songs much better than Boys and Girls.

@UglyPratFace7 Spot on. Blur had far more depth. Oasis ran out of steam after the second album. Modern Life is Rubbish was still the perfect Blur Album for me. They got better and better and their music always had great depth and cleverness about it, not nicking lyrics and guitar riffs off T-Rex. As said below Albarn is still making great music whereas.....

I was a fan of Oasis on the beginning and think their first two albums are excellent. What I don't understand is why they run out of steam. After 'What's The Story...' everything they produced was utter shite.
I think Blur were a much more durable band and I don't understand why swagger seems to be important.

Oasis in my opinion had one good album and to be honest with you the whole album isn't even that good besides the obvious songs which I got tired of before I even heard them..

Radiohead's most memorable track from what I know is 'Creep'. It's a fucking great song, but compared to most of their stuff that you hear on 'In Rainbows' and 'Hail To The Thief' isn't it the most easiest song they play? I understand that bands, over time evolve their sound which Blur and Radiohead did, but I don't think Oasis deserves all this shit about their easy-to-play music. Stereophonics is a band that is so underrated that I think should be up with these 3.

For a band to be more different doesn't necessarily make them 'better'? The only reason people say Blur and Radiohead are better than Oasis is because they make different sounds. In one aspect I can understand that, but Oasis came as a package and came as a sound. If you want to hear that sort of rock, Oasis. Blur and Radiohead have produced great songs but I personally think they are getting away with a lot of shit weird in-melodic tunes because they make up a BS story to go with it.
