  • what is the site called

  • hey everyone :) check out my channel. i have some skiing videos. comment and let me know what you think :)

  • hello every1,

i am searching for some website to buy my ski equipment.....you got anything to tell me????

  • you can tell this is from the 80's from the guitar solos in the background!

  • Some people said that I'm improving at enormous rate when I'm skiing. I've never skied or snowboard before

And in 2 days I'm going off the black diamond slopes without falling on every turn and racing with my friend. I found out that the best way to do it is when you jus start off the very steep slope try doing wedge (pizza) and when you will maintain some speed, then just try to keep your skis as parallel to each other as possible and to little slow down try turning. So thats my skiing tip for

  • I really like this music.

  • I tried twintip today, failed the first time. but i got up and tried and tried and tried. and guess what? i fuckin love it!

  • Chuck Norris can ski up a mountain.

  • This vide is what most people who ski hate when a person skis across the entire fuckjng run when going straight is a much better option

  • asdfasdf

  • I just came back from my first skiing lesson from Simmering in Austria. This video is good but there's more to skiing than what u see here. Like learning how to stop by leaning forward. I advice beginners to book a private one to one lesson. It helps alot so go fly now and Skii, the experience something else.

  • Hi, I'm too poor to afford skis and tickets to resort areas.

  • do da pizza!

  • There is another thing when you turn you must apply pressure on the outside ski of the turn. Otherwise you will slide down or evenly fall

  • damn it looks so fun!!

  • @maskenmakkan this is gay typical swedish faggot please die

  • The philosophy of homlington

  • HERE IS THE FIRST ADVICE!

NEVER WATCH AN MOVIE ON INTERNET AND THINK U CAN DO IT!!!!

U LEARN BY DOING WRONG AND LEARN FROM THAT C:

  • @XsniperswedenX So i should hop in a plane and just start flying. If I get it wrong, I can just go back and try it again.

    Douchebag

  • @BIGGSHAUN I meant not in that way :P

I have skied since I was five and I learned balance and how to make curves by myself and after that I went to a skiing school ..................I was just trying to make a point that don´t watch movies to do something ....just go and learn by yourself irl :P

  • I learned without lessons, but it was hard... Really hard, so take real lessons, not videos

  • If you're a beginner, PLEASE take skiing lessons. A pro can make it fun and safe. ALSO, if renting equipment, make sure the rental shop sets the bindings for easy release (you should be able to just twist your boot out of the bindings). My GF has a pin in her ankle because her bindings did not release and she got an open fracture on her first day...

  • Rockers are the best selection for pow, camber is for hardpack

  • is powder snow good for slalom?

  • @urbanpaip for racing, no. You want firm snow conditions to allow for better edge bite, eliminating as much resistance as possible

  • Don't go out there without taking lessons, the basic is verry important.

    This is a golden rule.

  • I'm going Skiing in 2 days, just watching this to see if it will help, but it probably won't..lol

  • hi

  • :) i love 2 skii

  • The worst video ever! Do not listen to this! It is old and out of date! And there all punters anyways.

  • type in "ski crashes" in the youtube search and click the video with stars in the title to be shocked!

  • @karigiri theres no title that starts : To be schocked

  • o gapers ha ha

  • Thanks for t-a-l-k-i-n-g s-l-o-w-l-y and telling me the skis don't bend. This is not a ski lesson, it's a slow death. Get on the slopes and take at least one lesson first for the best time. Give us this day our daily shred!!!

  • It pisses me off when people go back and forth and are completly clueless just go straight. It's not that hard, i see little kids do it all the time.

  • o ya i have skiis too! they are attached to the front suspension of my polaris dragon! i enjoy nature at 80 mph

  • Love skiing... :D

  • if you want to ski well, do NOT watch this, it wont help, you have to have a real feel for the skis. not by watching some shity middle aged woman who my gran could beat down.

  • @mathpopC stop trying to copy that other comment -.-

  • I just had my first skiing vacation. Fantastic, but a little hard. And for god's sake my body hurts :D but very very fun ^^

  • i just skiied for the first time in my life yesterday! I feel like a bus hit me today im so sore!!! i almost gave up but eventually i kinda got the hang out of it...my bf ended up taking me to a bigger slope and i just cried on the top bc i was so terrified haha atleast i got the begginers slope down! haha its fun!!

  • please watch my snowboard video!! thank you so much :)

  • awesome. Just beginning to learn how to ski. This helps a lot, technical understanding in one thing. But doing it is completely another. So go get to your nearest ski centre and practice! Its super awesome! Forget about learning to snowboard, you'll fall and hit your bum more times than not. Do that for later, ski first haha!

  • you have the most awsome video ive ever seen on youtube you are star

  • you have the most awsome video ive ever seen on youtube you are star

  • im going to ski tomorrow and this lesson is great

  • it is so dirty latrine doddi

  • OMG tomorrow its the great day!!!, i hope to have understood this lesson cuz i have never done ski or snowboard in my live and i'll be doing it tomorrow at Whistler Mountain. AAAAAAhhhhhh!!! God bless me, dont brake my legs!!!

  • for da g-g-g-g-g-g GAPERS ... you dont learn how to ski by watching videos and the people in this video shouldnt be teaching this because there doing shit wrong to...

  • lol i was hoping to see a 1 piece...

  • Is there a vid on how to ski in deep snow?

  • better than xpert village

  • USE HELMET!

    btw nice music xD

  • "by turning, you can TROLL your speed"? wtf?

  • Great instructional video... Thanks!

  • "The skis are our tool."

    NO, REALLY???

  • Wow Please use vocabulary for the simple.

    This sucked.

  • Jesus I learned to ski when I was about 3. Now it feels skiing just came naturally. You don't learn by watching... You will learn by doing. So get your thumb out of your ass and ski!

  • @henrytheawsome

Some of us learned to ski when we were 40 and didn't have the chance to have it "come naturally." So everything helps.

  • @henrytheawsome k buddy i watched this video and it helped immensley!! so get your thumb out of your ass, use your brain and speak for yourself

  • @henrytheawsome I guess you aren't any good at it then.

  • @henrytheawsome Not true! This tutorial helped me a lot. Thanks to it I have learnt how to parallel ski and make turns where I want;) Practise is necessary of course but theory is also needed.

  • @henrytheawsome Thank you overlord. Since you are the great one, we'll all bow down and worship you.

    Douchebag

  • @BIGGSHAUN oh and big shaun................Douchebags r trying to be like pro´s in everything and I just tried to help people so they don´t make any newbie mistakes so they don´t get hurt ;)

  • @henrytheawsome so why are on this video??

  • @henrytheawsome you'r right, i first was skiing when i was 2.5years old. you don't learn it by watching videos but you will only learn it if you'r doing it.

  • @henrytheawsome I will go in skiing holiday in 1 week so i cant start skiing now :P . by the way i agree with you , no video has helped me learn to ski , i just learned it itself. I have started to ski when i was like 3 or 4 years old and i just fucking learned to ski , no video can help you if you have just started skiing or you are trying to learn carving turns or whatever so get the fuck out of here and start skiing everybody

  • @henrytheawsome I only started trying to ski last year and don't get to often so using this to get ideas on how to improve my skiing seems like a logical idea since I don't even know how to carve or go a day without being lucky I haven't broken a leg

  • I think this is excellent - it gives you a lovely idea of what a smooth skier looks like and keeping this vision in mind really helps you improve (or keep you on track).

  • excuse me the weight transfer is mentioned, i remembered only edging the skis. This is very helpfull and accurate. again excuse me

  • in this weekend i was skiing for the first time by the end of the day i managed to learn steering, maintaining speed and stopping. my ski teachers who happened to be my close friend. I started off using information from this video they told me that this kind of manouvers are for intermediate skiers and when they showed me how to do it by transferring my weight from my legs alternatively it was much more easier. i don't want to be a smart ass but this is how i learned and its my own experience.

  • Centrifugal force does not exist

  • Skier at 3:30 hilarious- exactly like me.

  • I've gone skiing before, and I almost never controlled my speed. I only turned as minimal as possible. All I wanted was speed.

  • Love the videos, and the clarity of the voice overs make it that much easier. thanks!

  • @sparkmagea99 sounds like you are trying to stop when going too fast. You need to be able to have control when you are sliding sideways

  • @SnowSkool yeah went skiing again, did muuuch better this time. I believe I was trying to stop on too steep of an incline. Had it in my head that I should be able to stop on any terrain. I am just learning, so maybe I will be able to eventually, but for now I am going to try just maintaining control and a safe speed on the steeper stuff.

  • Can anybody give me a tip or two on hockey stopping? I try and try but one of two things happens: (a) I just turn, slowing down a bit, but not coming to a complete stop or (b) I catch an edge and eat it. Do I need to lean into the hill more maybe? or is it an issue with the width of my stance?

  • thus needing to lift up your inner ski.. when you really wanna carve a turn.. put ur inner stick in the snow halve a meter in front of you.. come up with your body.. shift your weight.. put your inner ski a bit forward and edge the ski's.. and put pressure on the ski's while leaning forward more than you're used to do and bend your knees a bit.. I hope it helped :)

  • @ 3x0rcyst3m & QuobXx

I'm 16 now and skiing for 12 years.. I think I do know what ur problem might be.. I don't know for how long you've been skiing.. But there simply is a little lack on technique and the feeling for dynamic.. what you probably are trying to do is to turn by actually turning your bodies and not leaning.. you need to use centrifugual force like just you're doing when bicycling.. if that's not the problem I think you're trying to turn too fast..

  • Well, he told the most important point of it... complete your turns! there arent any shortcuts.

But personally, i doubt that beginners already should carve. Its a better beginning to slide turns - means less speed gain and you dont need to control your turns that hard.

And Please stop the discussion about how your feets should stand x.x first its a question of your personal driving style, second it depends on your surrounding.

  • Thank you fro helping me not look like an idiot on my first time skiing.

  • Unfortunately I ski exactly like the guy from 3:31 to 3:50...

  • Comment removed

  • @QuobXx i think i know what your problem is xD

k im only 13 but im living in austria and im riding ski since 10 years and im winnig every race so i think i can say im realy good at riding ski...now to your problem: first you have to use your ski sticks and then you have to make bigger carves GL at practising....

  • @QuobXx same =(

  • @QuobXx ME TOOOOOOO!

  • @QuobXx Lol... Well if dats ur problem, try and keep ur skis closer together, and go down a more gradual run

  • Old vid - check out how close together his feet are - no one skis like that now unless on moguls...or maybe deeper powder...still a good skier though

  • @Burmeseboylcfc I still ski that way, And I started after Shaped skis, in my opinion it looks SO much better and with your feet together. It seperates the high intermediates from the experts (No offense, its just you can tell someones an expert immediatly if they can carve with a narrow stance)

  • @Articsledder i agree completley, ive always tried to keep my knees and ankles together, it looks much much better, and works alot better in bumps and powder, i see tons of people trying to ski powder with their feet shoulder width or more apart, however i dont really agree with your expert comment, because i am not an expert but i do carve with a narrow stance, maybe thats how you tell an intermediate from an advanced

  • Hist stance annoys me. It might just be that my carves are far more aggressive but his stance looks and is rather narrow :/

  • @mmcg325 and all the others who have a lot to say about this video. Firstly, if you know so much, why are you watching beginner videos? Why aren't you out there impressing everyone with your wonderful technique... or making your own video? As a real beginner, I enjoy this series of videos, as they make sense to me, and the instructor looks like I would want to look like when skiing. Get a life, you wannabees.

  • hey visit my channel and go to the link provided and get free mc points for xboxlive thanks and this really works

  • To stop yourself from moving you can make your skis into a wedge like this: / \

If you are going down a large hill or mountain however, you have to turn to slow yourself down. Gravity wants you to go straight down the hill/mountain, but by turning you resist gravity and slow yourself down.

To turn you need to put more pressure on one foot. If you want to turn right put more weight on your left foot. If you want to turn left, put more weight on your right foot.

    That's the idea behind it.

  • There are more advanced ideas behind the concepts I've stated but learn this first then look up online anything else. lol

  • Rock'in....

    \m/

  • fuck you this is bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • just been skiing again this spring, it was well good until the snow got slushy, you could just zoom down the slopes with any turning due to not much speed built up with slushy snow.

  • he sucked

  • FAKE

  • i can do everything good at skiing, exept braking :P

  • @sigge951 If you call it breaking you're a gaper.

  • haha this vid is so funny lol. you guys gotta check out my sick freestyle skiing and snowboarding vid. Right from Cleveland Ohio. you guys will love it so much more than this.

  • HAHAHAh 3:32

  • i just farted. :D

  • I did not understand one word of that.

  • this is the FUNNIEST VIDEO EVER!

  • отличное видео!

  • Thanks a lot! Your educational videos are awesome! Make a lot of sense only after you tried skiing at least once.

  • I skied for the first time yesterday at Sunrise in AZ (yeah, you actually can ski in Arizona!) It was pretty cool, but after watching this, I'm not sure how much I was really "sking". I was going horizontally down the mountain as much as I could. I'd get to the left side, then turn right, to the right side then turn left, etc... Anything else felt out of control and pretty freaky. I definitely want to try it again and get better.

  • Hey, dahudge, if you're able to make turns both ways and remain under control the first time, that's pretty standard progress. I've seen lots of beginners that just point and go -- I call them bombers, because they look like divebombing runs from a WW2 movie more than skiers and you never know who and what they're going to take out on their way down the hill. Thank-you for actually learning to ski.

  • I also went skiing for the first time 3 weeks ago after watching these videos, and they helped a lot. I went skiing a few times and learnt it without instructor or anybody elses help. These videos definitely helped with faster progress and helped to avoid bad injuries by realizing mistakes quickly. Just ski at speed you find comfortable and in control. Better fall early than too late.

  • man i went skiing a week ago and haven't gone in like 2 years, and boy, did it suck. I am the worlds worst skiier lol hands down. I just can't get that zig-zag motion to stay in control. I took a lot of bad falls and was severley injured on one. i didn't take any lessons which was stupid and was real scared the whole time. i had no confidence which is why i was terrible probably.

  • Man that dude shreded that run so bad they should it down.

  • This is an excellent series of films, with a lot of helpful tips and very suggestive examples. Go through all of the films and you are sure to learn a few great tricks that will improve your skiing technique.

  • i just learned this weekend on a trip with my freinds and for anyone who has not skied before you must try it there is no better feeling then skiing i love it and i plan on doing it for years to come so yea you got to give it a try

  • is it hard to ski? because im going in march and i dont no if i should be scarred or not

  • @Fancy303

I'm a true beginner and I can tell you that skiing is nothing to be afraid of. It's like riding the bike for the first time, you will probably fall but it wont hurt.

Don't be afraid as fear will make you lose control over the skis and then you accelerate and fall. You should be as calm as you can be and try to learn from others and remember to practically always try to turn (never lean backward in panic!) as turning is the key to control over speed and direction.

    Have a great time!

  • i here you man i just learned and at first i feel alot but by the 3rd day on skies it was wonderful yea just stay calm and good luck with skiing

  • its time to learn, but learning it is safe if you go on easy tracks. but after you starting to feel it 1-3 days, its one of the best things in life, trust me

  • ok thnx a lot

  • it kind of is hard at first but its awsome fun!!!

  • kinda easy, though i cant carve. but thAat was probaly beacuse i was skiing and snowboarding at the same time.

  • This video makes me understand why snowboarders think skiing is lame.

  • After watching this I would love to learn skiing thanks for the video.Nice Video.

  • very nice!!!!!!!!

  • nice teach ,nice place.. i want to ski

  • is skiing hard to learn?

  • no i had 4 lessons of two hours and i can ski pretty good

  • There is no such thing as centrifugal force. 2:17-2:25, somewhere in there

  • Of course there is such thing as centrifugal force. Anything moving on a curve (INside the system) senses it as a force trying to straighten the movement. Outside the system, watching a body moving on a curved path, you can find a centripetal force, like friction that keeps the body on its track, preventing it from moving along an undisturbed straight path. So you as a skier will sense centrifugal force as you turn, the snow will sense friction between itself and your skis. Physics 101.

  • @lacalaca85

Actually, if your teacher knows anything, centrifugal force absolutely does not exist, which is why it is mainly a fictitious force. Anything moving in a curve wants to move straight due to the properties of inertia. Newton's First Law states that an object in motion will remain in motion (linear motion) provided that no forces act upon it. The object in the curve stays in the curve instead of going on a straight trajectory because of centripetal force. Inertia, my friend.

  • That is a quite ignorant statement, as the Third Law will tell you. You can define the centrifugal force as the reaction force corresponding the centripetal force. The beauty of moving in a non-inertial reference frame. Of course its not the same type, that's why it's called pseudo-force or inertial force. The sum of individual forces, or net force doesn't "exist" as well, still the acceleration will be defined by it.

Same thing with the Coriolis-force. Or is that non-existent too?

  • No, it's fictitious because it has no opposite force.

Centripetal force (a real force) acts perpendicular to the radius of the arc, while centrifugal acts in same direction of the radius. Because they are at 90° to each other, they aren't "equal but opposite" forces.

  • "Centripetal force acts perpendicular to the radius" - you should really reconsider that statement. The only thing perpendicular to the radius is the speed(vector). Centripetal force on the other hand, must point to the center, along the radius. Like gravity, the Sun pulls the Earth, doesnt it? (OK, if you simplify that to the circular case.)

  • Let's just imagine you're twirling a ball around a circle with a string.

When you cut the string, it will go:

    a. Perpendicular to the radius

    b. Straight outward, parallel to the radius

If you chose b, you are an idiot and argue against an infallible fact.

  • You will go perpendicular to the radius, because your speed (e.g. the direction of your movement) points always perpendicular to the radius. The force that keeps you on the circle, points to the center. It is the string itself. Speed and force vectors dont have to align, like in circular motion or in the case of a pendulum. Consult a physics book, im off here, gone skiing.

  • The string keeps you in the circle, which is the force towards the center. But there is no opposite force acting away from the center, only a force perpendicular to the radius.

  • dude that was bullshit. i teach skiing dipshit. and everything u say sounded sexual

  • Can anybody help me? i really drive like the man at 3:42 but only if i don´t drive after my teacher, it´s only when i´m driving for myself...

  • Comment removed

  • I have a similar problem

  • Stop watching "INTRO" to skiing videos when you already know how to ski then tard

  • This video course is great. Used it to ski in Austria without other lessons. Off skiing tommorow in Kirchberg-Kitzbuehel.

  • thx man :) u made my m8ts impress

  • The video was helpful considering I haven't ever skied before, The music was a bit confusing for the video though. I'm going skiing for my first time with my youth group in Winterplace West Virginia so I'm excited about that, wish me luck!

  • Half of the people in this video aren't even keeping their torso's facing down hill... they're just facing their heads downhill... It's kindof painful to watch

  • his stance is way to narrow

  • theres a philosiphy of skiing? dude all you need is experience.

  • some good skiing, but your commentary is real confusing, espeically when you talk about 'turning the body' and leaning 'into the hill' is the opposite of what you should be doing. Your lateral movement should be towards your downhill ski, while your body still faces the direction your skiis are pointing. This helps keep the hips square on your skis providing a stronger stance, while helping maintain pressure on that downhill (outside) ski.

  • lol so fake

  • Very good video - a very good repetition at home how to slalom - I started thinking that I might try again . I have stopped when I think might easily brake my legs or something else cause to my age.Loved to see the Video, greetings Anne

  • I think these lessons are very good. I've used them and they help me ski. So what if these guys are over 25! They know what they are about!

  • skiing is chat.

  • wow old school technique or wat XD

they look proper mincy lol the arms arent doing them any favours either

technique is changing and theyre getting left behind lol

  • Comment removed

  • "Skiis are our tools"

    Duh?

  • This is a good lesson I like it its just that I could do so much better if some was just there teaching it to me in person

  • i thought he was in a helicopter at first...then i saw the pole...yeah...i guess this counts as spam?

  • narrow as shit

  • My problem is I don't like speed, so can go very slowly across the slope. I can turn properly-ish but better one way than the other - weak knees? I found myself 'snow plough' ing the other week when I went ice skating - it worked!

  • Snowplow is actually a useless technique, once you get past the green slope you will never use it again. Many places have stopped teaching the technique because of the limited time that you will use it. If you think that you have weak knees I would suggest picking up a book called "Fit to Ski and Snowboard" and use the workouts as conditioning for next season. Just a thought man good luck.
