  • Ok, you said the fast food is not good enough for composting. You even said it has chemicals in it. Yet you feed your kids that garbage? And you wont even compost it? Wow.

  • But why no animal products or oil?? Could you maybe bother to give a reason???

  • @RadiantMeteor look it up on Google...

  • you Don't want any type of anything of anything besides the rotten fruit in your fridge that you left open to long ,in your composte heap. Get OFF of MC Screw you Happy fun time meals. Exaclty what are you feeding your kids.

  • You are correct..Very basic tips because it is only two minutes long and we have viewers from around the world who need to follow along. Exactly, for more advanced information go to university sites and extension service sites...Thanks for watching my videos. I gathered food from the farmers market and neighbors so that I would have material for the video. Yes, leaving the door open for two minutes is not efficient but needed . Most Americans eat fast food so it should be addressed. Thanks!

  • @YolandaVanveen Whoah, easy tiger. I could care less about mistakes made, but when the title says expertvillage - I expect an expert not someone who doesn't know didley shit. Maybe I went a little overboard with the insults, ok you got me - I never said I wasn't a complete asshole. But jesus fucking christ, compost the fucking egg shells already. Tell your neighbor to stfu and stop giving poor advice. Tell em youtube said so.

  • being present in present !! Is a lesson for her to learn !!

  • lol wow -__- 138k vids...

  • OK i got it, Fast Food bad for your plants but good for your diet o.O (if i stop using fast food compost in my garden maybe i never listen a fart in my garden again) maybe my wife believe me at this time. I always told her was the flowers but she bit me in my shoulder. o.O

  • Everything but the plastic could have been composted EVERYTHING meat grease rotten hamburger ect...The finished product is good dirt just dont let kids play in it during composting. If composted properly the finished product will be safe to use just dont eat it. LOL

  • She is right its not complete and totally organic if there is any animal biproducts or meat of any kind in it. Eating at mcdonalds is not a good health choice but i can see her point she wants anything grown in her garden to be organic and free of oil meat and animal biproducts whitch is very good.

  • im not sure if she knows what she is talking about. she has the basic idea of it, she is in no way an expert though. she could tear those bags up and add them to her kitchen compost for carbon. no stars

  • I don't understadn why she would burn the bags and not recycle them?

  • @mikeyaaa Well, she is in a way recycling them.

  • @ikeorch7 in a way I guess. But why not just throw them out in your paper recycling?

Anyways on a side note, I just harvested my compost from one of three bins. I have over 50 gallons!

  • @mikeyaaa

Because if she was going to have to start a fire with paper anyway, why not use the bag rather than new paper. The 1st rule is always reuse first because it takes less energy to reuse that recycle.

  • @mabush2009

I guess you are right. But that doesn't apply much to her situation, it doesn't take much energy to toss the bag into the paper recycling bin.

  • Thanks for all the views!!!! Of course I don't have this much unused food in my fridge. I collected rotten food of all types for the video. How could I do the video without examples? So 35 bully texters out of 14,000 views isn't bad. Check out more of my videos my searching yolanda vanveen-nearly 1600 videos on youtube!

  • Expertvillage? She must be the village idiot. She's worried about eggs (animal bi-product?) in her compost. Yet she feeds her children happy meals. Way to go!

Kids, don't eat that lettuce, I want it for my compost. Here, eat this happy meal instead.

Too bad you can't grow intelligence.

  • @Unicron6

    roflmAo Great Comment!

Whenever I search for how-to gardening videos, why does the female in this video always surface??! (in my whiney nancykerrigan voice) Why?!!! WHY MEEE???

&Among all the OTHER bad info everyone's noticed, I've known 4decades that only newspaper & brown paper bags were good 4fireplaces, &that color paper (such as the funnies section or coupon insert pages/leaflets) are always toxic 2burn.

Though she MIGHT mean well, she contaminates with SO MUCH poor info.

  • this woman is an idiot, she left her fridge door open the whole time and refused to compost egg shells which are some of the best things you can add to compost. she also called the cardboard the eggs are kept in styrofoam and said she recycles it. she is beyond stupid

  • Doesnt it feel good to criticize people in a public forum? There is no reason to contact her offline with constructive suggestions...Whoopi...what fun! Gives ya such a warm feeling know that everybody else is getting the joy and opportunity of hearing you. Fun, fun, fun

  • And please close the refrigerator. It waste energy

  • Who keeps old happy meals!

  • ew mcdo, but why didnt her kids eat their happymeals in the first place? Fire... Fireplace... releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere... SO basically from these two videos she's found a half a head of lettuce for her compost... Someone call M.Compost!

  • I don't get it....like MICKEY2050 said. So, it's NOT okay to put bi products or oil in your garden, but your kids can suck it up no problem - Kill 2 birds with 1 stone --- find a way to grow McDonald's hamburgers.

  • You gross fat pig...just because you're American doesn't mean you eat fast food. You eat fast food, because you're lazy.

  • This is terrible! Fast food and standing with the fridge open for 2 minutes. hahah

  • Here kids eat the fries and hamburgers....we don't want the chemicals in our compost pile.

    Just kidding!

  • haha i thinks using fast food is nasty haha i love putting rotten cheese burgers in my garden!!! haha

  • Meat, fish, anything that you do not want to add to your compost pile, can be composted using the bokashi method.

  • What is the bokashi method?

  • Bokashi (Japanese for "fermented organic matter") is a method of intensive composting. It can use an aerobic or anaerobic inoculation to produce the compost. Once a starter culture is made, it can be re-used, like yogurt culture. Since the popular introduction of effective microorganisms (EM), Bokashi is commonly made with only molasses, water, EM, and wheat bran.

  • Thanks.

  • at 0:25 You are not putting that Mcdonalds hamburger buns in your compost because it has chemicals, Why are you letting your children eat it?

  • i know everything she says doensn't make sense. this lady isn't very smart

  • huh what u talking bout? What bacteria??????????

  • Thank you.

  • That egg carton was actually paper.

  • I find this frustrating for a number of reasons that really boil down to the fact that this could have been done in a more concise manner, without useless repetition/rambling on the presenter's part, and without multiple videos. The first two segments alone could have been compressed into one 2-3 minute long video easily, if the presenter did not keep repeating what she just said 10 seconds before. Thank you for your efforts, but I will be looking elsewhere for information on this subject.

  • if you really want to learn about composting, research red wigglers. Some studies so that they produce very fertile compost. The rotting fuits, veggies and yes, eggs shell ( dry them out, crush them to fine bits) smells horrible. But when those wigglers do their magic, they turn that slop into sweet smelling soil fertilizer. They love to eat and make babies. so you can start out with a couple hundred & in no time at all have an army working for you! Be well.

  • i agree. i hope that refrigarator wasnt plug in.

  • What do you, guys and girls think of this: Those things I do not use in my compost pile, like meats, fish, etc, instead of throwing them on the garbage, I had the idea of burying them on my garden to feed my worms. No problems so far. No smell no mess. Any comments?

  • whats the point to compost for me? Seems like i can't compost anything...gzzz forget compost, now! lol

  • The scent of eggs or meat can attract raccoons. Raw fruit and vegetable garbage is best for compost.

Another advantage is that you reduce the amount of garbage you put out. I know of a community in Vermont that placed a cap on the amount of garbage you could leave out. Everyone began composting and recycling. The town invested in a smokeless incinerator for the other stuff.

  • If you want to be environmentally friendly then shut the fridge door!

  • Egg shells provide important nutrients. Chickens are not canrivores.

put the egg shells in your compost.

while you are starting your fire with old McD's bags, why not add the fries instead of tossing them in the trash?

does this video come with a handbook?

  • Just because chickens arent carnivores doent mean they dont eat meat, worms, bugs mine loved eating the cats food which included chicken cooked and raw.

  • I avoid meat/bones/dairy because: 1. I live very close to my neighbors. Rotting flesh smells pretty bad. If I lived in the country, it would be a different story. 2. You have to be careful when you compost flesh/dairy. I think that is why the commentator discouraged it. You don't want to deal with maggots, rodents, flies, ghastly evil smells, or scavengers (skunks, ect.) They may destroy your pile. If you want to compost these items, bury them deep with high-carbon material.

  • Why no oil or meat in the compost pile? You say you don't want it, but you don't elaborate as to why. Just curious. It all breaks down after 6-12 months anyway, right?
