  • She is the girl who inspired me to become a figure skater. I started when i was 9, I am now 15 and still skating. <3 you emily hughes

  • She was so robbed/cheated/ripped off...Kwan sucked everything she possibly could out of the 2006 Olympics and then 'graciously' threw Emily the leftovers. It's funny...even at 'practice' Kwan was full of excuses...marching in the opening ceremonies wasn't good for my body' (FACE TIME)...a long flight (poor baby, FIRST class )...but she was ever so gracious in disregarding Emily's situation....Kwan would have used THIS as an excuse for another CRAP program...but, I just got here..boo hoo hoo

  • What an honest young athlete. She was outright cheated by Michelle to compete here. She earned her spot fair and square and had to wait out while the USFSA, behind closed doors, snub her off the team. She was such a good sport about the whole thing and was honored simply to compete when Michelle finally decided to run off after lapping up all the attention and a single practice session.

  • i think that yuna's interpretation of this music was better. I'm not judging their skating, but more on the choreography.

  • @RCskater97

    The Torino Incident was........

As bad as Michelle Kwon was at the time, she was picked over Emily to represent the U.S.A at the 2006 Olympics in Torino. If it wasn't for Michelle bowing out, Emily wouldn't have skated.

  • @marellamofo and she reinjured herself and Emily came and did a great job. Sasha did her usual job of falling and never completing 2 clean programs after being held up with a mediocre SP. Fuck you.

  • @twilliger123

Yada yada yada!! the fact remains, people like you are giddy over poor performers when it comes to competition. 3rd and 4th place finnishers. Skaters injure themselves all the time. It's part of the nature of the sport. You are correct Sasha fell like she always does, but artically she is by far a bettter skater than Huges. Go to hell and develop some standards when it comes to winning.

  • @marellamofo Why don't you develop some standards when it comes to thinking? You are a fucking idiot with your comments, please keep them coming. At least Emily goes to an ivy league school (like her sister before her) and is an articulate, well spoken and educated woman. I love Yu-Na but she won't have anything but skating in ice shows and Mao sounds like a cow when she speaks. Go fuck yourself with a skate blade and bleed to death please. it's not all about winning.

  • @twilliger123

5 months later your dumb ass decides to respond to what I've posted. Let it go and get a fucking life you dip shit. I don't give a damn about Emily Huges, you do. That 100000th ranking skater doesn't matter at this time when it comes to who is skating, now does she? WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!! So fucking what Huges goes to an Ivy league The amount money that Yu-na Kim and Mao Asada makes, they could buy an ivy league school and the education to go along with it. THINK YOU DUMB ASS.

  • @marellamofo If it wasn't for Michelle's placement in the 2005 World Championships, the US wouldn't have had three spots for the Olympics and Emily, the bronze medalist at Nationals wouldn't have gone even if Michelle had not petitioned on. And how do you know how Michelle was skating at the time? The USFSA judges thought she was good enough to be on the team.

  • @idolfan9495 Who gives a crap if Kwan earned 3 spots for the US or not. She didn't compete at nationals to earn that ticket she helped secure for the US but Emily went out and EARNED that ticket for herself at nationals. Why didn't Kwan just sit out at 98 nationals too? She helped earn 3 spots at 97 worlds and had an injured toe at the time. Why even hold nationals if it's results didn't really matter to pick the Olympic team? Kwan made skating a joke and is a complete LOSER.

  • Coming in 3rd place is something to get excited about? So typical of Americans. So giddy to just do ok. but not having the spirit to fight for a win. Sasha Cohen comes to mind on this and she is b;y far one of the best skaters from the U.S.A. Come on American female skaters, that's why the Asian skaters are kicking our asses. Coming in second with them is a very big disappointment. Aim high America, haven't you notice that our skaters are nowhere near an award podium?

  • @marellamofo You're a fucktard, they were excited because they knew realistically she couldn't win or even medal, she skated two good programs and for her first Oly's on an International stage a top 10 finish is phenominal. Fuck off and die, asshole.

  • @twilliger123

WTF?????????? You FUCKTARD!!! Realistically, you know that Huges couldn't win or even medal and people are supposed to applaud this? So fucking what she skated a clean programs. IT WASN'T ENOUGH PERIOD. Where is Huges now? You fuck off and start striving for #1 like those Asian skaters. They are dominating figure skating and skaters like Huges who's only do the bare minimum will never win any medals.

  • thats the kind of short program i dream of having ;D i can't think of where to begin, the whole thing was just wonderful !

  • Its so nice to know that Sarah Hughes became her sister's Emily number 1 fan!

  • Does anyone know where Emily Hughes was in the standings before she skated this LP? And did she have a realistic chance during this skate, of making the podium (gold medal?) I think in the 2002 Olympics, her sister was relatively unknown sitting in 4th place after the SP, and gave the performance of her life to sneak past Kwan & Slutskaya to get the Gold. Was it a similar situation here?

And 1 more question: is Emily Hughes on the 2010 Olympic team?

  • she's not on the 2010 olympic team

  • @MichelleRobles777

she did not really have any chance at all of winning Gold, but she did not expect to. I believe she was 7th after the SP and remained in 7th after the free.

  • you can just see the joy in her face and in her skating. She just makes it seem like a dream come true, never mind about placement. Skating your best at the olympics. What can be better than that?

  • Excellent program! Emily "brought" it :)

  • ummm, this was 3 years ago, she got better every year until she got injured and hasn't been able to compete. What she does have is guts, good technique, great spins and speed and most of all we see the joy she has for skating. Who gives a shit wha you think, anyway? I'd like to see you place top 10 at Olympics and Worlds!

  • That's what my last sentence was about - I haven't seen her and she's probably improved. I saw a recent performance of hers that I really loved actually.

Calm down, am I not allowed to give my opinion?

  • @twilliger123 Wow, never thought I would agree with you but you are right on here! Emily is so gracious and talented. Now, here we probably differ. I can't help but wonder how things would have turned out for her had she been allowed the whole Olympic experience...the opening ceremonies, time to shake off jet lag and just chill and relax...w/o the press and the insinuation that she was 2nd string. What a lovely young woman!

  • @getrealandsee I think she did just fine, she was still practicing and training and she is such an unassuming young woman it didn't affect her at all. Just look at how calm and cool she is in this program, she's great!

  • Stop acting like you know everything about her. You can't judge a person without knowing them personally. Based on what I know, I thought she was a good sport about the whole Torino incident; so why can't you?

  • @allenglandlawns I agree..if there was a CLASS ACT in Torino it was Emily Hughes. I am not sure what you mean by saying 'Stop acting like you know everything about her.' Maybe I am responding to a comment not meant for me? If it is directed at me I am sorry for whatever I said to offend you. I just love this beautiful young lady and consider her actions leading up to Torino a true measure of her character. Sportsmanship at its finest!

  • Personaly I think this was better than ANY short program that her sister ever skated. Which is Ironic, because we all know what Sarah ultimately achieved!

  • @Iwantvoids maybe, but it was a totally different system back then too. emily has a bit more of an aggressive style to her skating, which i personally find very appealing, and which i think is more highly rated under IJS as well. both of their axels absolutely FLY though, and lovely spiral sequences!

  • is she Sarah Hughes' sister?

  • Yes, she is Sarah's younger sister. She's adorable and is such a fantastic figure skater like her big sister before her. I think figure skating interest runs in the family.... I think more of the side of their father's.

  • oh okay thanks for the help!

  • you're welcome!

  • well this was two years ago asswipe she's come a long way since then, even though she was spectacular here, you haven't a clue!

  • I love how people just come along like u, and start trash tatlking about skaters. Why don't u just start appreciating people who go to the Olympics??? U probably can't even land a triple.

And what's with the analogy about the ham? And a "llittle kid"... Okay, if u want to start bashing skaters, think of some better analogies. -_-

  • tomass423, you acted like a little kid. Grow up. Either come and enjoy Emily Hughes skating, or don't come here at all.

  • I love her skating!

  • Cute and competitive, can't wait for US Nationals.

  • i definetly get teared up seeing this.... her coach has taken her from the beginning steps to the olympics!!!

  • she definitely garnered more crowd support and cheers in this SP than kimmie and for good reason (apart from th 3-3 her per4mance was definitely not energetic compared to emily's)

  • Don't say anything about Emily Hughes. She's a great skaters. All of that is muscle and strength.

  • I hope you aren't implying she is fat because she is not. She's very athletic and has a muscular robust figure. Built like Tonya Harding.

  • i think she means that both their kids are amazing athletes ...

  • wow thats mean, emily looks fine.

  • go to emily-hughes.net to find out

  • whats the music and wheres it from

  • Gershwin's concerto in F

  • The music is Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F, 3rd movement (allegro).

  • @MostHauntedCharmedG

good isn't it? Gershwin, Concerto in F, the allegro agiato and some of the adagio.
