Hey man, I have the newer model Orion HCCA 12.2 .. Just how many watts rms can I put to this thing? And what would you recommend for a good amplifier? I'm having Fatbox make me a custom box for it, to Orion specs.
The name of the song is Bass, I Love You- Bassotronics duh... read the damn screen. Nice video man these subs are even better to see in person very big.
can some on tell me plz., is it important to run in these subs or can i striaght away start pumpin dem up??? and how long does it take 2 get them runned in and wats the best way to run dem in?
Sub woofers and speakers in general don't need to be worked in.
The best way to break in sub woofers for maximum SPL and dB is to play them.
I however did want to try something, try playing your subs for a few hours at the exact frequency that the box is tuned to. It might make it a little bit louder faster than simply playing it.
You can't break a speaker by playing it too loudly too quickly, it is not like an engine! :D
Too much power will break sub woofers and speakers.
JL W7 get raped by hccas the w7 are shit they sound good untill 1200rms then pop pop boom fuck i just spent a shit ton of cash on a shit sub them orions can beat out solo xs (the 12s) the 18in solo x would beat a 12 or 15in orion but there not in the same size range
stupid americans? fuck u. u piece of shit. u my friend are we "stupid american's" call bitches. run ur mouth and get ur ass kicked. come say that over here and i garentee u will not come out alive.
here in europe we take a sub +- 1000/2000RMS and we test how much we can put on them i for example have had 4 Kicker CVX'es 12" in 'SEALED' yes SEALED boxes and they each got around 2.3/2.4 KW RMS yes thats 2400watts RMS, hope you now learn not to look at the given RMS readings but to design and test a sub and box to see how much they can handle!!!
and to the poster of this vid:but u realy need another box,
@roxsjeezur i had a kicker cvx 15 and i would push it AT the rms and i could smell the coils burning. and just because you think you are pushing that much doesnt mean you are. i doubt you are pushing 2400x2 rms IF you have a stock alternator. and sealed boxes limit coil movement so YEAH you might "get" 2400 rms but i doubt it handles it long. 12" cvx's get 750 rms. if kicker would have tested it and got 2400 rms, then why wouldnt they advertise it at that? you stupid european piece of shit
Your box is way wrong.ports way to small.you could get better sound,.As for the FI BTLs im running 2 12.2 hccas pushing over 4k to each sub for well over a year.and i dont baby it...I have a full wall in a cavalier pushing over 160.
dude, the bad sound will be the camera mike, ORION HCCA SUBS WILL ALWAYS RULE, NEVER WILL BE BEATEN, these beats pump harder than FI BTLS any day..... trust me
Well DD subs are hand made so the quality is definitely better than a sub made in China. I just said "piss on them" because loudso0undman is putting JBLs on a pedistal. In real life DD would...
didnt notice this was the 12.2'', the 15'' would beat Fi BTls and JL w7s and the like - any day... but then again this one is 2000 watt rms...? the 15'' is 2500 to 3000 right? :)
@loudsoundman if yu really want summat tht thumps yu shud have a look at the ground zero plutomium they have 15" and 18" tht have 10000WRMS...........yes that does say ten thousand but they r like £1300 fot he sub alone
@alexgill2k7 yeah it handles 10000 watts but it only moves out 1.39" at max excursion. the orion moves 4". if it handles 10000w, then i garuntee 9000 of those watts go to shit
I hate to say....that sounds like crap. Its a decent woofer, dont know what amp you got pushin that thing or what your x-over settings and high and low pass filter setting are, but it sounds like crap. Very nice woofer though.
@csmccarty Because it does. Etha the camera sucks or he didnt do something right. My recording sounds much better than this. The woofer is very nice..and i said that before. So its the camera or something went wrong in the setup somewhere. Im only giving my opinion..that is the point of being able to leave comments, is it not? Wasnt tryin to hurt homie's feelings bc it is nice. Sorry if i hurt yours carty.
@TheClarionJBL camera mics arent meant to record high decibels therefore judging the sound of a sub through a camera is pointless. subs are just a thing you have to be there to hear
@csmccarty Its not all the db, mainly the freq. Its what its designed to pick up and reproduce, or the lack of. None the less, regardless of the camera, you can still get a sense of what something sounds like...in this case, a subwoofer. There is bass, the sub is hitting the drops, and the mic IS picking up the freq. However, I hear a lot of motor action goin on. May jus be the box its in.
@TheClarionJBL i think the "motor action" that you hear is either distortion from the camera, or it is the rattling of things inside the car considering that subs will make things rattle. the sub is also sitting on a metal floor... i doubt that makes it sound good. i have an hcca and i dont experience any motor action. it has a 4" voice coil, so getting it to make harsh noises would take well over 2000 watts
@csmccarty After listening to this video I dont know how many times... it IS the woofer, you hear this noise on the very soft bass hits at the begining of the song before the bass drops come in. That sound that you call "distortion" and "metal" rattling, is NOT the case. It sounds like vc rub or when the woofer is presenting long throws, or high excursion, that the vc is possibly hitting the back plate. You dont have to have 2000 watts to produce this noise.
@TheClarionJBL the only time it might hit the back plate is if it reaches 4" of excursion. after listening to the video again i am pretty sure that it is distortion from the camera. the sound you hear from those soft bass hits is the camera recording high decibels. trust me, i own this exact sub, play this song with the same excursion in a ported box and i dont hear vc noise. there are too many factors involved with this video to draw a conclusion about how good this sub sounds.
that song doesn't really make good bass it just moves the sub woofer a lot farther and they move much slower at not a very high frequency. Still like it though
well I've had them for years and there better than anything else I've seen. look at the orion VS videos and then tell me there not the best. ported boxes are a must side fireing the sub is a no no and 1600 watts rms will fire the sub just fine. The larger the box the better. It look slike that box could be doubled in size. I learned along time ago The Larger the box the better the performance. Up to a point I usually double the recomended airspace on these and port the box.
not quite.... manufactures have specific sizes for sealed / ported enclosures, so the sub can perform to its best. if the subwoofer cant move the amount of air inside the box, it wont hit right.
@mathmath007 yea but is it damaged in anyway?? and how many hours do u play it everyday? and do you listen to it alot like evryweek? pls answer these questions because i need to know.
@L00peey .. you do know that these sub are reconeable? Even tho its reconeable, these sub will take the abuse and can withstand hours and hours of max volume.
Hey, what amp are you using?
