I don't go to church anymore but when I did our music minister use to sing this song and play it on the guitar very slowly and it was so moving. Christ was definitely in his music.
I believe churches are mostly the antithesis to promoting and living a spiritual life. I feel true communion with God is found in nature, in family, in daily meditation, and constantly striving to reach your fullest human potential. Obviously this doesn't go for everyone but I feel like I'm a worse person when in church. I feel too many people spend time focusing on "the show" of their faith when I feel faith is something deeply personal and should not be paraded around like a circus show.

Scriptures encourage us to fellowship with one another. The five-fold ministries can only be obtained when brethren gather together. Focusing on the Lord prevents us from focusing on the "show" - shows can only prevented by mature Christians.
Unfortunately "mature Christian" (or mature anyone for that matter) is subjective. If your communion with the creator of the Universe is found through gatherings in temples(churches) then I smile kindly upon you and wish you well.
I simply do not learn and grow in temples filled with snake-tongued people and complicated philosophies.
My temple(church) is my heart and brain. My philosophies are love, kindness and compassion and my communion with the creator is sought through meditation.
It is helpful to study the whole council of God. I am afraid you will have to cut out some parts of God's word to make your "philosophies" work and your temple function. 1 Cor. 12 does not agree with your stand which in itself is subjective. I don't go to church anymore but when I did our music minister use to sing this song and play it on the guitar very slowly and it was so moving. Christ was definitely in his music.

I believe churches are mostly the antithesis to promoting and living a spiritual life. I feel true communion with God is found in nature, in family, in daily meditation, and constantly striving to reach your fullest human potential. Obviously this doesn't go for everyone but I feel like I'm a worse person when in church. I feel too many people spend time focusing on "the show" of their faith when I feel faith is something deeply personal and should not be paraded around like a circus show.

Scriptures encourage us to fellowship with one another. The five-fold ministries can only be obtained when brethren gather together. Focusing on the Lord prevents us from focusing on the "show" - shows can only prevented by mature Christians.

Unfortunately "mature Christian" (or mature anyone for that matter) is subjective. If your communion with the creator of the Universe is found through gatherings in temples(churches) then I smile kindly upon you and wish you well.
I simply do not learn and grow in temples filled with snake-tongued people and complicated philosophies.
My temple(church) is my heart and brain. My philosophies are love, kindness and compassion and my communion with the creator is sought through meditation.

It is helpful to study the whole council of God. I am afraid you will have to cut out some parts of God's word to make your "philosophies" work and your temple function. 1 Cor. 12 does not agree with your stand which in itself is subjective. I return the kind smile since through experience, I may say most hypocrites want "separation" from the soiled Church - but they are part of the nations which is even more soiled and are proud of it!!!

Though we are of different spiritual beliefs I doubt our hopes, dreams and goal are far from different. Who are you to say my spiritual path is wrong? Who am I to say yours is wrong? Can we not both continue down our paths(as we so rightly deserve to) and simply have faith our communion with the creator will bring us closer to him? I do not arrogantly assume I know my creator's plans or desires so I therefore do not assume my philosophies are inherently right or better. I simply have faith.

You don't even have to wait for a nebulous time like "Great Tribulation" to come. For all people die, it is a fact of life. Everyone will answer to God for the choices they make in this life. While there's still time, while you still have breath, come to Christ. I can tell you about the bad things that all people do, myself included, but Christ never won me that way. I can only tell you that Christ loves you and waits with open arms.

Simb: The "love" of an imaginary "god" is just imaginary. The "peace" you get by pretending there's a magical plan for your life makes you lazy and uninterested in bettering yourself. The "hope" you get by looking forward to an "after-life" which has NEVER been proven to exists makes you neglect moments in this very real life. Prayer is useless; two hands working can achieve more than a thousand locked in prayer.

On the contrary: the plan for my life (even if it is pretend, hypothetically) is one of the grandest things ever thought up. The peace from believing that there is a great plan for my life makes me strive even harder to reach the fulfillment of that plan. Also, the hope of a fulfilling afterlife would be nothing if we have not embraced every moment, bad and good, in this life. For prayer, what many fail to realize (and to do) is prayer leads to action - hope for change, then be the change.

Peace from faith allows me to strive for my goals, to dream, and to believe that those goals can be reached. Personally, it makes me take more responsibility for fulfilling all that I hope to achieve - I have been given an empowerment to do such things.
I look at this world and so often am saddened at murder, rape, and tragedy - I hope my actions in this life can help to change these situations. By nature, I don't think any amount of effort will end these, so I hope in a heaven of true peace.

I have a problem with the homo eroticism that I see in this song. I have a problem with picturing spreading my legs apart so Christ can fuck me. I have a problem with taking the analogy of the church as the bride of christ too far. Casting crowns made a mistake with this one. Other than that they are ok.
