I've seen him playing around L.A. a lot with people like Lucinda Williams. he's usually everyones "go to" guy for peddle steel (including Mathew Sweet). it's nice to see him standing for a change. this is a great performance of this song.

saw SH + MW perform at the Birchmere in VA last tour, and their duets were inspired. Susanna performed, by my husband's request, her stunning vocal cover of Dylan's I'll Keep in With Mine. Listen to it on YouTube. One of the best covers you'll ever hear. I just saw the Bangles last weekend from the front row, and all of the women looked and sounded amazing, especially Susanna. Any twenty something would kill for those legs! The band rocked. The new material is EXCITING! Loved it!!

She doesn't age! Matt looks "different" but he is still AWESOME!! He's an awesome writer, performer, producer. I used to work radio in Ottawa and a CD came across my desk of Matthew Sweet's called "Goodfriend" (not "Girlfriend) - it was full of acoustic versions and B sides. It was AWESOME. If anyone can find it - it's well worth it.  It looks like someone traced the cover to "Girlfriend" on paper and then stuck it in a CD case.

The original solo was better for the simple fact that it was more melodic, and fit the spirit of the song nicely. This seemed very out of place, and felt like he was trying too hard to make the song his "own" when really he just came off as generic.

I saw the Bangles in NYC this past June, and I was up close...I can assure you that Susanna Hoffs, even though she's fifty, looks WAY BETTER than most of those Hollywood twentysomething wannabes. In fact, all three of the original gals...Susanna, Debbie, and Vickie...look INCREDIBLE!!! Not one of those women have the old ladie neck, and that the telling tale of age.

His emotion clearly outweighs his raw talent which is what makes him so great. His tone and style are unique, you always know when it's him playing or singing. How many technically proficient guitar players can you say that about?

I'd take a great songwriter with great feeling over a great player any day. But that's just me.

This was actually filmed a few years ago. That said, if you've seen any of the recent press photos from Under the Covers Vol. 2, he definitely has lost a lot of weight. He looks really good! And he's actually managing to pull off a killer mustache too.
